For second-generation models On the side of your device, you should see a microphone on/off switch. First, flip that to the off position. The LED lights on the top of your speaker should pulse orange. Press and hold the center of the Nest Mini, right where those lights are located. You’ll hear a chime once the reset is complete.
To the point. No chit-chat about where you got it, how your home life was when you were a child or anything else that would have driven me to drink at 7am. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!!!!
I have to take a moment to thank you for this video!! My dad has had a Google Home Mini for years and loves it. He recently upgraded his wifi and received a new router & modem. I spent two solid days trying to reset his Google Home but every video or list of instructions sent me in circles - UNTIL I found this video!! The reset button on the bottom is almost invisible but it worked and dad's back to setting timers, finding out how to spell words and the current temperature. Thank you!!!!
like the features, setup was difficult for some of my devices (August Door lock, ru-vid.comUgkxhB5YOMNj04GuoAosExygP4cH-dKeb4aB Bose speaker)... but all switches and outlets (5), thermostat, tankless water heater. Unfortunately all I can do is turn on/off Bose. It doesn't support volume or changing channels, but I believe that is due to the particular speaker I have.... Worth getting if you already have other devices to use it with... I don't sit around and ask Alexa questions much so that doesn't really matter to me....
For the people who have a Google Nest Mini 2nd Gen, there is no button. Here is the instructions to Factory reset: On the side of your device, switch the mic off. The lights will turn orange. Press and hold the center of the Nest Mini, where the lights are on top. After 5 seconds, your device will begin the factory reset process. Continue to hold for about 10 seconds more, until a sound confirms that the device is resetting.
I spent all day yesterday trying to fix problem connecting my mini to new internet. Someone said to reset to factory settings you flip the microphone button on and off. Certainly no luck. Thank you for this!!! Less than 5 minutes and it is back up and running! Awesome video!! ❤️
I want to thank you for posting this video. I was at my wits end trying to factory reset a 1st generation Google Mini. I wish I had known about the button on the bottom! The "button" on the bottom doesn't look like a button. It's hard to see, especially if the bottom of the mini is dirty. Your instructions were easy to follow step by step. I know this video was posted 5 years ago. It's still helping people (like me!).
Absolute legend, the reset button on Gen 1 is so poorly marked it's really easy to miss. I've been tapping all over the bloody thing trying for a reset. Thanks for the video 🤟
Thanks for sharing this video. I wouldn't have been able to reset mine without this video. May GOD continue to BLESS YOU & your channel @CV Tech!! Thank you very much.
Omg tysm for this cuz I was trying to start my google mini but it wouldn’t work and it told me to reset something,so I reset my iPad it did nothing. So now that I saw this vid I don’t have to rage that the mini is broken.
Mine still won't connect to the Wifi. I tried rebooting the router but all my other devices say they're still connected even when the router isn't plugged in.
How useful this was !! I had a WiFi connection problem with one unit and the Google app just suggested (in circle) to “try (try?) to reset to factory” without explaining how. It could have said “Please refer to CV Tech for more instructions”. Or... “please RU-vid your questions if you face an issue, as this became the standard way of helping yourselves in any situations nowadays...”
Thank you so much, someone gave me GHM that was used. I tried many times trying to set it up but wasn’t able to until I seen your video. Never knew there was a reset button. Thanks again:))
Thank you for this video. I was having so much trouble trying to setup my google mini after changing to a different internet provider. And once I reset it with your help, it works again!!!
Thank you Sir. I lost a connection and even when I tried it failed.! Factory reset was the only option, and this button 🟠 was not visible until you pointed it out 👍👍👍
Mine is completely frozen just the 4 lights are on and when I try to factory reset and hold it for 15 seconds it just shows a orange light but never talks
Mine stopped working. 2 lights stay on and when i try to reset it the two lights stay on and there is a green light that comes on when holding the reset button. it just sets there like a paper weight
I changed my WiFi router and couldn’t reconnect to my mini despite checking out lots of RU-vid help videos. Not one of them even mentioned a hard reboot. Thank you so much as I was almost about to throw my mini in the bin.
Thank you so much! I don’t what happened but when I got a new WiFi system I must have messed up and disconnected it. Now that I reset it, it works great again.
Thanks for making me discover this almost hidden rest button on the Google Home Mini. You barely can see it. Happy I was able to finally get my system back on.
Thank you! My sister or whoever set up the google home had some settings not set so this helped me be able to get into the management of the mini, again thank you.
Thanks a lot after getting new router i could not setup the new wifi, always lost the connection to the google home in the end of setup. Reset it fixed the problem.
Just wanted to say thanks for the straight forward quick guide - exactly what I was looking for & rarely find… I’m a little impatient, hehe. Thank you anyway! Ps. Love your accent, made a good video even better 😉
Hi. I don't have that button. Mine might be a newer model. The back doesn't look like your mini anymore. I need help. I moved and am trying to connect it to the new Wi-fi and password.
