How to factory reset a TL-WPA4220 TP-Link AV600 Powerline Wi-Fi Extender

Is the new tp link extender a kit of two or more? They might be conflicting rather than working together if so.

Two of those WiFi "side" adaptors could also link between each other. But.. if you don't have two of these devices you are stuck. A single one on it's own can't do anything helpful at all.

@@freename Yeah, I do have two of the larger adaptors that broadcast wifi, but one is making a worrying sound (potentially risky to keep using) and the speed drops intermittently so I'm assuming there's a fault. I found an identical spare one which looks like it should work, but when I press the pair button, the light does not flash so it doesn't enter pairing mode. Every other light comes on except the one showing a network connection, so frustrating! It gives off a great wfi signal but there's no point connecting to it as it doesn't have internet access. Even tried a pinhole reset, but no luck. The cruel irony is that I have 2 spare adaptors that are the ones you plug your router into, but of course they don't give wifi, they're only of use if I want to connect with a LAN cable, which I don't. Ah well, thanks for taking the time to reply, I appreciate it :)

​@@andylornastuff Power line networking is iffy at the best of times. It might slow down because someones turned on the oven or done something which creates more "noise" on the power wiring. Does the second one you've found pair correctly if you put it in a plug socket right next to the original one ?

@@freename No, I tried that. Unfortunately pressing the pair button just does nothing. The light doesn't start flashing as it should do. It doesn't feel like the button itself is broken, I can feel it click when I push it in, but it just does nothing. Ah well. Time to invest in a mesh setup I think, I could have done with a quick fix for this though as it limits where in my house I can work (not in my office basically!)

Yes. Though I suspect it gets an IP using DHCP if it is connected successfully to your network.

Not sure. Sorry. The only thing I can think to check is you are somehow creating a network loop where there are two routes back to another part of the network. This is especially possible if you have Sonos or Sky stuff which also does WiFi bridging.

Pair them when they are right next to each other like you see in my video. Then move them once paired. If they stop working after you move them then you know the distance is too far or your power wiring in the house isn't suitable for carrying data. (Even if it worked in the past, something in your house or a neighbours may be interfering too much now).

2:15 - See that section. You need to pair the device with another one. Or your other one is too far away (or your power wiring is so bad) to get good reception through the power wiring. Try setting them up next to each other and then move them apart once you know they are setup ok.
