I just finished Dr. Scott's book "For When Everything is Burning". If you have benefitted from his videos, go get this book. Don't think about it. Don't put it on the list. Go get it. I have read tons of books about mental health and find that most of them, though well intentioned, are filled with vague commentaries, lots of useless platitudes, but offer no practical steps to improving the situation between my ears. This book is different in that it is full of specific, actionable suggestions that you can begin applying immediately. I can't recommend it enough. I listened to it on Audible so, if you're not a big reader, you can access it that way. Thank you Dr. Scott! My hope for a better future took a huge leap forward before I had even finished your wonderful book.

Yes! I love listening to, and watching his videos, specifically because he does explain things so deeply and thoroughly. He's helped me understand myself better, and has given me some new vocabulary that has been helpful in trying to explain to my husband how I feel and describe what it does to me. Physically, mentally and emotionally.❤

With CPTSDI I was incapable of falling asleep at all. Ever. I would go as far as 5 straight days then have to go to the Emergency Room because I was hallucinating and totally dysfunctional. I tried everything from the Sleep Disorders Center, to over the counter drugs, to prescription to street drugs or alcohol and WAY overdid everything. I was told it was all in my head. I said, "No shit!! That I know, I just don't know how to get it out. I was on high alert all day and night for nearly 20 years. I've been on a healing path for 20 years and finally feel like I'm getting there. Having my own yawns was the first sign to me that I was doing better. Thanks for your show!!

💜That's me..going, going, going until I pass out from exhaustion. There are times I am sitting on my bed, getting ready for sleep, the next thing I know, it's morning, and I'm still fully clothed. I'm laying crosswise on the bed with no idea what happened. I also feel like I got hit by the truck I was running after all night. Until now I thought it was okay, as long as I got some sleep. Now I know, it's as horrible of an idea as I feel when I wake up. I will work harder on my sleep. I would love to drift off to sleep, not get thrown into it! Thank you for always telling the hard truths, even though it's sometimes tough to hear.🤝💜

Thank you for this, it is timely. I’ve been struggling the last two weeks, as I try to re-adapt my body from relying on marijuana to fall asleep (perhaps wrongly attributing it to “turning my brain off” to asleep). It’s been a stressful time with trying to get my affairs in order after a big move, especially with anxiety and an avoidant personality that would just rather not deal with the DMV and such, and it is hard to keep my thoughts from constantly churning. I will have to try these strategies (and more thoroughly follow the ones I’m already trying to do).

I'm a basically healthy person but have never been able to sleep well. I have no trouble falling asleep but I always wake up at 3 or 4 am and can't get back to sleep. I average about 5 hours per night but it's not enough and always catches up to me by the end of the week. I feel like my sleep problem has been taking a heavy toll on my mental health lately and don't know what to do about. Medications have not been affective because they make me just as tired the next day. Wish I knew how to fix this.

Sleep for me is waking up every hour with coughing fits, night terrors, panic attacks and witch visits. Choosing to get into bed and go to sleep brings up a massive amount of anxiety. Do you have any advice for night shift workers? I have a hard time sleeping during the day, especially in a house full of people who are awake. I switched to nights because I have insomnia so figured I might as well work while I can’t sleep anyways. But I have a hard time sleeping during the day. Sometimes I’ll be awake for 2-3 days straight. It’s that bad. I also work 12-15 hour shifts. I’ve considered switching to working day shifts just to improve my quality of life. I’m constantly exhausted, fatigued, no energy to accomplish anything, I’m overweight, and depressed. Help!

Thank you! I have struggled with sleep since I was a little kid. Insomnia, night terrors, nightmares, sleepwalking. But now as an adult I heavily rely on alcohol to fall asleep. It is more just passing out from alcohol instead of eal sleep and the next morning I wake up to chaos and sometimes no memory of how I got there, which makes my OCD ten times worse, because my brain fills the time I can't remember with horrible images. I have also taken seroquel for sleep, but it makes the nightmares worse. So thank you for your advise.
