Your Aquascaper 1200 is a joy to watch, and thank you for this very informative video. The fertilizer I use is the one you use a lot in your videos; the liquid Tropica Specialized Nutrition. I use 1 mL every two days for my Dennerle 30 L aquascape, with two 50 % water changes weekly. This tank is stocked with amano shrimp and pygmy corydoras, and is full of several species of anubias, bucephalandra (green and purple), microsorum pteropus, java moss rotala H'ra, banana plants, marsilea hirsuta, limnobium laevigatum, hygrophila siamensis 53B, and salvinia auriculata. It's like watching a jungle. I also use the same liquid fertilizer for my five liter planted vase, where I feed about 0,2 mL daily. The plants in there are hemianthus micranthemum, some rotala H'ra, and salvinia auriculata. This one gets a daily water change because it is only a few days old. My big goldfish tank is full of anubias but there is no need for fertilizers in that tank, obviously. I have watched many of your videos and picked up your recommendations to use in my own aquascape, and I am happy to report that there has never been any issues at all in the tank. Not a single algae spot anywhere to be seen. Happy days :D

If or if not a issue. Then dosing each day would solve it IF it is a issue. So dosing each day have maybe then yet another beneficial upside. And probably why the content creator do not feel or see it as a issue when he dose each day. 😍

Love all your great videos, I get to learn a lot with them. Albeit, you focus two different, common situations, either you have massively planted aquariums with a few fish or the opposite, not so many plants and loads of fish... My doubt is, in my case I have a massively planted aquarium with quite a lot of fish. My aquarium is 300 lts. (already deducting the gravel), and approximately 50cm depth of water column, I have a Twinstar 120B LED, CO2 injection and a Twinstar Yotta Plus sterilizer. The biggest fry is composed of cardinals, then have smaller groups of Rasboras (Mosquito, Chilli, Exclamation dot and Emerald dwarf), also Threadfin rainbow fish (my favourite), Spotted blue eyes, Oryzias woworae, Pencil fish (Nannostomus beckfordii), a few Otocinclus, Rosy loaches and striped and dark kuhli's. Also have a couple Bamboo shrimps, Amano shrimps, Red Cherry, Yellow, Orange, Green, Blue Dream, Babaulti, Crystal Red, Tiger Blue and Blue Bolt shrimps. Also have snails, Neritina's, Taia naticoides, Clithon Corona and Planorbis. Plants I am more successful with are Cryptocoryne's and most Moss varieties like Christmas, Nano, Creeping, Flaming, etc. Not really successful with red plants, already tried Ludwigia's, Rotalas, and so on. Already increased light, tried a few brands of fertilizers, Tropica as well, both types, the green and yellow ones. Also tried the Tropica pills you place under the gravel. Is it feasible to inject liquid fertilizer in very small portions directly on more demanding plants? In the gravel underneath those plants I mean. I'd really appreciate some advice regarding this situation (lots of plants and fish). Thank you so much and keep making all these wonderful videos. ☺️☺️☺️

Hi George. Thank you for the very informative videos. I’m a newbie here and wondering why you suggest doing a 50% water change each week. Great video. Until now, I used separate micro and macro from Green Aqua, but I got Tropica all in one fertilizer for a new aquarium. We are interested in how you dose the liquid fertilizer, once a week when changing 50% of the water, the entire prescribed dose, or do you spread the prescribed dose over several days a week ? Tropica says to dose 6ml per 50 liters of water all at once when changing the water and it lasts for a whole week. What do you recommend?

George. U missed quite important factor. 90% of aquarist use tap water. Some have very hard water which often contain one of the Macro in crazy ammounts. Example - my water has ton of Calcium - 140ppm, little magnesium 6ppm and two tons of phosphates 4ppm. No Nitrogen, no potassium, no iron. Using Tap water and all in one fertiliser in that case will cause never ending algae problems. Water chcange - phosphates up. Fertilising - phosphates up. Nitogen Potassium Magnesium always too low. Plants don't like it because of wrong proportions. Algae loves it. So? Before anyone decide what and how they going to feed their plants, first! Get to know Ur water You use for water changes.

As long as the nutrients aren't a limiting factor, the plants couldn't care less about what ratios those nutrients exist in the tank as. Happy plants = no algae issues. Many dosing methods will actively give the plants more than they need to ensure that the plants don't experience any deficiencies. EI is a great example of this and doesnt rely on the hobbyist testing their tapwater with inaccurate test kits.

Is there any truth in what people say about dechlorinators stopping fertiliser from working? Dechlorinators state that they remove metals from the water and I've read in online groups that that includes all of the metals present in the fertiliser, effectively rendering them useless for whatever period of time the dechlorinator remains active in the water (rumoured to be up to 48 hours). What are your thoughts on this, and is there any truth to it?

Great Video George! I’m newly back into the hobby, and set up a co2 injection tank. Started to notice plants not look too good, and algae starting. After watching this vid I realised I was under dosing the tank. After dosing everyday started to notice instant results, everything looking better!!! Thanks, all the way from New Zealand.

Lovely video. I’m bit confused which AIO fertiliser to use? Evolution aqua or Tropica specialised nutrition? I have a 60 litre planted tanks with around 100 shrimps.

How about ADA ferts? 5ml for N K Fe Mineral ? thats a lot ....I have a 60h adatank, but just my hairgrass and rotara always troubled by green hair algae, but never others.

I also use an all-in-one fertilizer, Colombo Flora Grow Pro (weekly dosage). For me, this fert works in both low- and high-tech tanks. That is a huge advantage and I save a lot of money by that because I have a 951-liter capacity fishroom filled with tanks ranging from nano to 270 liter monster.

Excellent topic and video. I would really enjoy hearing more about liquid fertilizers in conjunction with planted substrates. I'm in the U.S. with a dirted 36 and 55 gallon under moderate/high light with no co2.

Fantastic. I’ve just realised that my one pump per week of tropica premium in 25l with 40-50% weekly water changes probably isn’t enough. I use aqua soil, root tabs but I guess having column feeder plants like hornwort and some others aren’t getting enough nutrients. Some are melting which I’m not sure is because they’re new or underfed. I will soon find out. I’m now going to do 2pumps per week and see how I go. I may increase it. Algae is a small problem but it’s mainly in the tank closest to the window. So that makes sense. Fingers crossed the increase in nutrition does the trick! Fabulous video. Thanks so much 😄😄

Hi George, is it advisable not to put a heater in planted tank? In such a case how do fishes survive in cold weather???
@tigersunruss
@tigersunruss 3 года назад
If you keep your room temperature to the what the fish need you won't need a heater. Personally the heater costs you a lot less in energy if you like your room a bit cooler than 72 - 82 degrees depending on the needs of your fish. If you don't like the look of the heater in your tank, get a Oase filter that comes with a heater in the filter.

Hi George, thanks for the great video. With regards to the water change. Being that you are adding the nutrients back into the water through dosing, are you doing your water changes with 100% RO water?

Hello. Thank you for this great video. I'm going to try this system you talk about. I have a newly planted aquarium with Dr Tropica substrate. It is a very planted high tech. I wanted to ask you if you recommend that I start fertilizing now with the Tropica specialized substrate. In what quantity? Or better not to start yet? Thank you so much

Excellent video. I’m having reasonable success in a low-tech heavily planted Oase 85 StyleLine using the German Dennerle all in one system, (V30, S7 & E15) including their Dosator , which delivers a study daily drip of the all in one fertiliser V30 via an osmotic membrane. FWIW I used only Tropica plants and followed there App’s instructions, which recommend 30% of water changes and cautious fertilisation in the first 90 days. (BTW Thanks for the disclaimer about your involvement with one of the AIO companies, as in some videos it can seem that you’re promoting this brand and approach, ahead of others. But maybe that’s my perception and not others.) Further videos on your low-tech set ups would be much appreciated.

@@not_ur_senpai866 diluted? They use concentrated formulas so that you don’t have to use as much. Even if you spend a bit of money in the beginning, it should last you way longer than with Tropica for example. Filipe Oliveira has a video on this, and even though he only uses Flourish and Flourish Advance whenever he’s away, it’s perfectly fine and you can adjust each nutrient accordingly as they have individual bottles for each of them.

Great video and actually helped confirm my own thoughts on daily small doses rather than large ones. Currently I'm doing 5 squirts 2 times a week. I was just wondering if the tank gets to lean on ferts towards the end of my routine. I think I will start small doses daily after my next water change.

Hi there! This might be a bit specific questions to my situation but i will post it anyway. It might help someone if answer came along. I started to add Tropica specialised nutrition to my heavy planted tank. It's 125 liter big. Seller at aqua shop recommended me to buy and add more potassium over what Tropica specialized nutrition provode. Is this necessary and what can I gain with for example adding additional 5ml easy-lofe potassium per week? Thanks.

Hi George i have anubias in my tank for the first time and they are melting away, it doesn’t look like a fungus eating away at it, is it possible that my dosing of liquid co2, seachem flourish, seachem flourish premium isn’t sufficient for them? I had them planted with the thick stem above the soil and they where doing great, but i read if they are on rocks or wood crevices they grow better? Is it the change over thats killing them or is my dosing incorrect, i dose daily btw. Thanks so much for your videos its super informative
