I got a ticket while in military uniform on a sunny day in dense traffic for “crossing a divided part of a highway” from an officer that seemed to be tucked behind a stopped truck off to the side of an HOV lane that was merging back into the 15 southbound in San Diego. This area does have a divided part but further down turns into normal dashed lines, not the type that indicate an HOV lane or any lane restrictions. There were also another 5 or so cars that used that merging lane to skip a little bit of traffic, both before and after the divided (double white lines) part ends. The officer pulled up on a van behind me who did use that divided part to cross over and beside him in the 2nd merging lane and looked into the van while driving and then sped up to get behind me, turn on his lights, and once stopped, tell me “I singled you out because you’re the only person in your car in the HOV lane”. I was under the belief that it was no longer an HOV lane due to no lane markers other than merging arrows or any other type of dashed line to divide the lanes once it starts to merge. He then proceeded to tell me “I’m just ticketing you for crossing a divided part of the highway” when there were multiple cars crossing both before and after the dashes begin. I know he did it to help me a little bit but at the same time I’m wondering how to fight it because I do believe I crossed once the dashes started

Got a ticket today entering town. 55 on a 35mph area using LIDAR. Cop said he wrote down in his notes that I was doing 55 but wrote me down for 45mph in the ticket. Concerned that if I fight it, the cop may say I was doing 55 instead. Told me he would have given me a warning, but considering it was peak hours he said it was dangerous and had to site me.

I just got a ticket today for going 58 mph on a 45 mph street but the officer put 40 mph on the ticket. The street was empty, just me and another car and he put that were was traffic. I didn’t have my insurance papers on hand and just printed them out and he wrote that on the ticket. He didn’t stop me until the next three lights when I was already slowed down.

I got a speeding ticket for doing 84 in a 65. The CHP was parked under an overpass when he hit me with his lidar gun. During the stop he immediately pulled me out of the vehicle, had me spit out my gum, and then began to integrate me with accusations of drinking and driving. I was not. He asked me on several occasions if I had open containers in the vehicle and if I had been drinking. To which I answered no. He made me follow his ink pen with my eyes also. I felt he was aggitated because I wasn’t actually under the influence and he wasn’t going to be dragging me to jail. After the interrogation he told me to get back in the vehicle and that he was giving me a speeding ticket for 19mph over. He then brought his lidar gun over to show me and my 3 passengers that it showed 84mph. I don’t know what to make of this. Could this be beat? Was a sunny hot day around 5pm.

100mph is most likely a mandatory court appearance. First you need to wait until you receive the courtesy notice from the court and then contact the court and request that they "set bail and allow you to proceed with a trial by written declaration". Yes the courtesy notice will have the bail and the due date. You have choices, you can just pay the ticket and take the point/fine, or you can go to court to fight the ticket, or you can do a trial by written declaration which is a way to fight the ticket WITHOUT going to court. Just got 1 today, i thought the blvd was 55mph but the limit is 45mph, i was driving 65mph, then I tried to get in front of the 2 cars in front of me & the officer said I was 68mph. On my ticket, he said “driving unsafe under the traffic condition.” There were 3 cars on that blvd and he put on my ticket that the traffic is moderate. It was a clear day, the road is dry.

I was on the freeway and the freeway was completely stopped for like 5 minutes when I got to the hold up, I guess there was an accident probably , and when it was my turn to finally continue forward after we all squeezed into 1 lane , the cops pulled out in front of me all of sudden , and I guess were leaving the scene , I didn’t wanna stop too hard on the breaks because the cars behind me were also on my ass, so when the 2 high way patrols were in front of me, I went to the left and continued forward , I felt bad for feeling like I was in the way of them pulling out , so I tried to accelerate faster and I got into the fast lane , and was gonna start to go a bit uphill and the cop had turned off their siren lights and creeped up behind me , I didn’t realize it was the highway patrol because they had just had their lights on , and to get behind me I guess they turned them off , and came up behind me soooooo fast (85 mph in a 55 mph zone) I sped up that fast because the car came up behind me soooo fast that it was like startling and I even pressed on the breaks really quick to signal I wanted to try to slow down because I knew I was going fast, but they didn’t slow down behind me , and then like 5 or 6 seconds later turned on their lights and sirens and had me exit the freeway. I didn’t argue because I don’t want to make anything more difficult than it needs to be bc cops are very sensitive lil boys , so I just agreed to everything . But I don’t think it’s fair at all that he basically antagonized me as a driver by coming up behind me super fast , and then even when I tried to break to tell the car that I wanted to slow down, he didn’t let me because he was totally on my ass and it would’ve been dangerous to just start slowing down when he claims I was going 85 mph in a 55 , which means we both were, and I was trying to avoid getting slammed from behind , and in my defense I pressed the breaks to signal that they were too close and i was trying to slow down. I totally feel violated that they antagonized me and then had the audacity to write me a ticket , but it’s also not my car . It’s my moms car , and my step dad is the main person on the insurance and I’m not on the insurance because I don’t have my own car, I just occasionally use my moms car when I want to go get something to eat, which is what I was doing, do you think I’m eligible for your service I really don’t want this on my record because I’m a newer driver I’ve only had my license for a year and I don’t want my moms and step dads insurance to go up from this ticket that I feel I was antagonized into getting .

Jenni Gonzalez i have till may to pay mine and you dont wanna submit it till close to the deadline and i havent gone through them yet, i probably will, but its all chance tbh going through them will give you a better chance of beating your ticket especially if its close, but its usual a matter of them not getting the paper work done in the time window so you get dismissed kind of by default

Hey I got a ticket for doing 96 in a 55 ..The speed I was on was very unintentional because the night I got my ticket, it was very dark and I was strictly focused on the road.. I didn’t pay attention to the speedometer… I called the court room and they said I wasn’t eligible for traffic school since it was over 25mph… he said I have to talk to the judge and I really want to get this ticket cleared… what should I expect.. do you think the Judge will allow me to do school???? A better way to fight a ticket is in writing as we state with a trial by written declaration which is a way to fight a ticket without anyone going to court. See now officers are mandated to go to court they will be there, there is not such thing as the best time for a cop not to to to court or where he's not going to go to court. You can't change the court house and you can only get one extension where the court sets the date/time this is out of your control. I got a ticket this morning, the highway patrol said I was doing 80mph in a 55mph construction area. My speedometer read 70mph, i was going with the flow of traffic and maintained my lane up until I was switching lanes to take the off ramp to the I-15 from the I-10, and at that time I was reducing my speed due to traffic in the lanes leading to the ramp. I didn’t notice the officer’s lights until I began switching lanes. I didn’t argue the ticket just took it and have a court date in a month and a half. If you already missed the court date all you can do is contact the court and ask the clerk if they can reopen your case. They may tell you that you need to see the judge to request that. If they do allow you to reopen the case you can ask for a trial by written declaration to fight your ticket.

Hello, I got a speeding ticket today. He said I was doing 86 mph in a 65 mph zone. It was a very curvy road, in the hills, there were two other cars around me that were going faster than I was. Hi, today I received a ticket for going 75 mph in a 65mph zone. I was keeping with the general flow of traffic on the highway. But I passed an officer on the highway. He says he was going 73mph and since I passed him, he gushed my speed around 75mph. Would this be an easy ticket to contest? If you're like 30mph above the speed limit it's slim chance of dismissal. If you go to court in person and the pig shows up then you have a slim chance of dismissal. There is no price on the ticket, just a court date, he said he clocked me in at 103mph with the others. He put the wrong age on my ticket as well by 11 years. This is my first time being pulled over and receiving a ticket, I'm not sure what to do?

What you have is called an mandatory court appearance as you were going over 100 mph. You will need to go to court on that date. There is never a fine amount on the ticket, they typically send a courtesy notice 2-4 weeks later with the fine amount. As to errors on the ticket, well he just made a mistake, that doesn't get the ticket dismissed.

@@bckgat3garage It is always better to do a trial by written declaration first as this is the only way you get 2 chances. If you go to court you only get one chance. A trial by written declaration is the best way to fight a ticket without going to court. A trial by written declaration is also the only way you will get traffic school if you lose. If you go to court and lose you will not get traffic school.

106 is considered a mandatory court appearance and your bail/fine is not immediately set so initially you cannot do a trial by written declaration. However if you contact the court and request that they set bail and allow you to proceed with a a trial by written declaration they can allow it but it is up to the court.
