I really enjoy the behind the scenes of what others use to film solo and the lengths people go to make their videos on RU-vid. Filming solo can be really challenging. Endless walking back to get the camera and fussing with tripods. Finding scenes that are both interesting and move the story along. Having to pack and unpack cameras and drones at a moments notice to try and capture a moment before it's gone. All while trying to make it natural when none of it is and sometimes looks downright silly af.

Every one of your video feels fresh and unique. This is why you can make a video like this, meant to be a behind the scene and a tutorial, but it just falls in line with your entire library of videos. It's always about making the best out of the moment. You're an explorer of moments. You say you don't like being the subject of your videos, but honestly, I don't feel like you're the theme. You're the soul of it. The moments are the themes of your videos.

This is the episode I didn't know I needed! A fascinating behind-the-scenes look at your process. Personally, I think the amount of "you" that is in your videos is a big part of what makes them so special. Those drone shots of the trees above the forest looking down are mesmerizing. Another incredible video. Your innate artistic vision especially with composition is what makes your nature work special. Knowing that in spite of junk dumped nearby, the distant mountain image is going to come through, and though you’re near a noisy, busy road, the fog through the trees is the capture you’re looking for. Your unhurried tempo is important too, no frenetic dialog, just easy and articulate. It’s all reflected in your description of the surrounding cafe scene.. raspberry scone, Americano, guys playing guitar, fog in the mountains, the river, a train going by… just paints the perfect easy mood. So good. Enjoyed the BTS, fun to see how you work. Thanks Christian, hope your property search going okay. ✌🏼❤️🙂

Christian, I have been following your channel for years! IMHO you do not create mediocre videos. You said you want the viewer to feel like they/we are right there with you. With all the technology we have, that is a high goal in itself. I have always deeply believed that writers see the world in expressive words, musicians hear the world in a collective harmony, photographers & videographers see the beauty in everything, you see the expressions, hear the harmony and you find the beauty in even the finest detail! YOU have the gift of being able to allow those, who are fortunate enough, to experience your work as if we were there with you and seeing it all through your eyes. Of all your work, this is my favorite!

Very nicely done, Christian! Most viewers probably don't have any concept of just how much energy goes into setting up your shots, then add multiple cameras and devices, post editing, finding music, edit in voiceover, ... You have a way of capturing a Nature moment in time and then add a fitting soundscape which, in this case, had a kind of Western settler vibe with the banjo. From a 600mi bike trip I remember what it's like to come across breathtaking places that are just there, waiting to be found, and then, left alone in their pristine form. Be well out there and thank you for doing what you do ~

Thanks for sharing your process with us! I dabble in nature photography for fun, but have never done video, and was curious. I know from photography just how many hours it can take to get a handful of shots I’m happy with, so have always appreciated the work you put into your videos. They’re peaceful and calming, and I appreciate your balanced approach to the narration. You tell a story, but so much of the story is in the video itself, and you are good at stepping back and not getting in the way of that with excessive monologues. At the same time, I agree with you that it if was only nature footage, I wouldn’t be as drawn to watching. You bring in enough of yourself to keep it interesting. So you want a cabin in the woods. May I offer an observation? I see you as a gifted "story teller" first, then a photographer. A photojournalist! There was a guy named John Nichols in Denver. He put together interesting stories for a local news station. Called them "a nickels' worth". He was a story teller only not as good as you. He made a lot of money during his career because he was a good story teller. He didn't sell himself as a photographer. You are bigger and better than RU-vid. You are a creator who could tell a terrific story about anything!! You have some "60 minutes" in you. All they do is tell stories but on a grander scale. My advice? Branch out and broaden your subject matter, your scope. Expand your horizons. How bout climate stories, environmental stories, the disappearance of salmon from the Pacific Northwest, etc. And btw: you are a terrific videographer!!

It's great to watch your videos, the enjoyment you transmit, the value of your dedicated task with love and creativity, the perspective of the nature that you share of your making on and off the shoots and the integrity of your unique and lovely style. Thanks for all that you share, a big hug from Spain.

Such a coincidence. Earlier today I thought I hadn’t seen a video of yours recently & “I bet she posts one today” and Bam! You did 😎 I do enjoy the voiceovers and hearing your perspective. In everyday life there isn’t this depth and it’s amazing to be able to experience it here with creators like you ❤

❤ GR8 VID ~ LOVED IT ❤ I wondered why your videos were always a cut above everyone else and this vid really showcased the technical skill and your creative talent, the mental, emotional & physical aspects you use and which results in your content being above most, if not all other channels. Thank you for sharing ❤ Samsung was smart to sponsor this video because it truly serves as inspiration and a good guideline for all who want to make RU-vid content ❤

❤This was so good! Verified that filming yourself is fun, taps your creativity gene, and the back and forth to compose and star in the video takes planning and tech knowledge to grab enough footage to create the high quality videos that you’re known for!

Thank you so much for this. Not only is the footage beautiful but it’s so refreshing to hear about an approach that is less stretched and more about discovering your way. I’m completely still at the beginning of my creative journey, not yet having really landed at all on a style, direction, and it feels so messy and unstructured, but I’m living the process. And I needed to hear that messy can be good (and see the proof that you can get to a stage where the messiness results in beauty). So, onward. Thanks again. And happy travels.

I found you accidentally right after a stressful situation occurred on my way to work. I felt like I was watching a movie. Your storytelling is on point and those views are simply amazing. My stress diminished while watching, especially at 17:30 mark..that blue rushing water...MY FAVE❤ thank you for creating this video. Now I'm so relaxed, I need to roll myself out of my car for work😂

I really like the contrasting colors of some of these shots. The green leaves and moss, dark damp wood, grey stone, blue and white water, and then Christian's bright yellow raincoat! 🤭

Love seeing you mix it up here, and seeing a different side too. You have a way of expressing your art & experience from your heart & soul, but seeing this technical professional side going over your gear & techniques was so impressive, like whoa we know you have these mad skills but bring it out so seamless we don’t see the serious hi-tech knowledge & skills you have, and the different music vibe brings it out. Love the natural outdoors clothes & color, and seeing you among the PNW trees dripping with moss, you look at home so hope you can find a home base to chill when you are not traveling, be safe & take care… ✌️

Wow, I am flashed... I watched the video even twice. I have a van, a camera equipment, a drone, good lenses like you and even time to experience what you are doing sooo super professionally, but I haven't yet to manage the advanced level. While watching your videos I took notes and charged my Camera, Drone, spare batteries, aux lights batteries and the DJI gimbal. I will do a new start right in the morning. Be proud of yourself, the work you are doing is just outstanding. You have another follower. Thanks so much and enjoy the road! Grettings from Prague, Czech Republic, Thomas

Thanks for sharing and making my evening that much better. I find that watching your videos has a tendency to drive me into the studio to compose. Your creative spirit is infectious. Thanks again!

Everybody can find peace in your videos. I noticed how accurate and sensitive you are about your composition. I subscribed and am looking forward to new videos. Thank you.
