@@NatashaIbrahim I've been rewatching your videos as I prepare to be an auxiliar later this year. Currently awaiting my regional placement! I have a couple of questions: When searching for a room in a flat on Idealista, does this mean that there are already other people in the other rooms and you'll be joining them? I'm definitely gonna need roommates in order to pay low rent! Also, I would really like to live with native Spanish speakers if possible and was wondering if you had any specific suggestions for that? I'll definitely be searching for appropriate facebook groups when I get a better idea of where I will be situated.

@@ayjee8 Aw thank you that makes me so happy and good luck on your placement! I think that could vary on idealista for roommates, maybe the other rooms are occupied or the landlord is actively trying to fill all rooms but you can message each one and ask what the situation is. As for living with native Spanish speakers I think going through Facebook groups would be the best for that!

Michelle E glad you found it helpful! It varies by landlord but usually they can keep your deposit, I’ve also heard of people subleasing their apartment it they are leaving a lease early

hi! in looking for roommates, did you arrange to talk first to see if you will get along/have a bit similar interests or personality and like to do similar things such as going out? how important is it to be friends or get along well with roommates?

Hey! I don’t have a specific video titled that, but i do talk about that subject a lot in my spain videos and also i have a section about it in my more recent video about settling down in Mexico (that is the title) it can be difficult making friends when you move but using those tips (Facebook groups/couchsurfing etc) are great! ❤️❤️

Hi Natasha! I’m from Toronto and I was wondering if you could give me some advise. I watched all of your videos about your experience as an Auxiliares in Spain, which have been very helpful so far! I’m doing it this year myself and I actually landed a school in Benidorm as well, so I’m very interested in your personal experience/recommendations. I’m unsure about living in Benidorm. From my research I’ve started to believe it would be better to live in or closer to Alicante. I prefer bigger cities and the vibe I got online from Benidorm is that it is smaller and rather touristy (especially British tourists 😜) and so less of an authentic Spanish feel. What are your thoughts about Benidorm? Did you know people that lived in Alicante but commuted to Benidorm and preferred it? It would be a 1.2 hour commute but I think I can live with that.

Hello! What's the process like in Spain to rent a place? I rented in Hungary and Portugal and they were very different experiences. Hungary was very easy. Just give them two months deposit plus whatever for the current month, and you're in. Generally all the utilities are lumped in, although maybe it adds to the advertised rent, which is fine. You don't need to get that stuff on your own. Additionally, they often come furnished. With that said, and knowing they often don't come furnished in Spain, is it somewhat like that? Oh ya, in Portugal they often try to get several months of deposit from foreigners, which is terrible, especially if they try to keep it. And they don't usually come furnished, which makes the huge deposit less reasonable. Thanks!

I’m just wondering how they pay you. Like do you have to have your own Spain bank account? How would I put some of that money onto my Canadian bank account to pay down bills back home?

Yes you have to open a Spanish bank account! It’s not too complicated 😊

@@NatashaIbrahim Thank you. My Spanish prof suggested this program to me and said she would write me a letter of recommendation. I might do it after I graduate. I do have some international experience since I studied abroad in Japan. Plus, I’m fluent in Spanish so it would be easy for me to get around. I would do this for teaching experience.
