One thing I tell new diggers is look for the odd signals. Coin ID's are fairly consistent and easy to learn. Look for those ID's that are a little above or a little below. The repeatable tones that hit 46-49, mid to low 60's or 70's. That's were I find the coolest stuff. A lot of people don't like to dig old shotgun brass, I disagree. There are several web site dedicated to dating head stamps. The dates aren't exact, but will give critical insight into the age of a site. There's an old city park by me. I began to find shotgun brass, used my cell phone and looked it up (~20's). I found another, then another. I began to see a pattern. I followed what I believe to be an old trail/road. It was a bonanza! I began to find Barbers and Indian heads. I found 2 trade tokens and an antique fire hose nozzle, that I donated back to the city. I spent 2 months working that old trail.
Great finds ! I thought I was the only one to clear an old cellar hole site with a Skid Steer ! I used my Bobcat 763 to remove a few inches of dirt around a 1800's cellar hole on our farm. Made lot's of good finds - a seated half dime - large Cents - indians - buttons, etc.
Hey Nugget, I'm in my Mid Seventies and had a Whites Eagle and a Compadre in my past. They seem to have come up missing. I have learned a great deal from you and I hope to get a new detector to keep me active... May God Bless you time and time again...
I am just getting into it just got my at pro learning how to use it great unit. I love watching you videos i wish i could come dig with you guys looks like you have a great time and your postive attitude and no swearing you are the best on youtube. God bless you
picked up the at pro for old hose sites and old mine sites. found what you put out here about a slow swing and pro mode works very good. the only thing i do different is use a 5x8 coil period. seen a fella with the atp kick some butt, its my old site machine now. i dig most targets over 30. i have a F75 that can hunt, but i am finding more old coins and rings with the atp. love the iron audio on those weak deep targets. getting good depth with the small coil. great video, wish i could have some scrape the first 6 inches off a few sites. i have a pre colonial site to hunt month if the broken arm has healed up enough. this is some really good advice. been watching fir years, keep it up.
Very cool video! It is amazing how easily you can pinpoint those nice finds among all that iron targets. Great job. I love watching your videos...keep em coming!
I set up my AT as you suggested and it worked great...Found several coins/ nails in the same hole. I had hunted this site before and missed these coins. Thanks!
Can you do a video on your collection over the years that you found metal detecting? I think that would be a really cool video. That's all my comments here, I really learn a lot from you.
Looked like you guys had some fun, although I think I would stay clear of Chris and heavy equipment! Lots of good finds and too bad that deep signal wasn't a cannon. That would have been awesome! GL and HH1
XP Deus is good for iron infested sites also. Remember the saying slow and low... In the USA where you detect seems to mostly relics. In the UK we mostly find old coins
I've got an idea, why don't we team you up with my pal Wayne (Mr Palamino1) to hunt an old park anywhere in a northern state, then we'll head south and do an old southern plantation site. A friendly compitition between the AT Pro and the CTX.3030. Man I would Love to see that happen. It could become the most watched Metal Detecting video on RU-vid. Dig War's would have nothing on you guy's. Your Half Dime was a great find..would have loved to have seen it all cleaned up.
Hey..nugget very interesting videos..I just ordered the at pro should be here any day..I was wondering if you ever find any gold..I haven't seen any in your videos..and if so what kind of signals are you reading on the display..thanks
Can you do a video on how much things are worth... what you sell and what you don’t... it’s very difficult for us in Uk to get any type of prospective on your digs. It’s like only getting half a story...
Great video. I think it is time to retire my ADS 7 and go PRO. Thanks for sharing the tips. Maybe next time some explosive devices will help you reach the bottom of the cellar.
Hey Noggin you said the AT Pro is one of your favorite detectors which one is your favorite if you had to choose one good all around detector for creeks and land detecting ? Thanks for any help ...Love your video's!!!
Nice vid! That T140 is an awesome machine for metal detecting! You get some real good depth, but it doesn't pinpoint very well. More of an All Metals machine. LOL! HH
Do you think this type of hunting would work with an Ace 350, I got the same coil as you got there? If I swing slow like you said, I should be able to hunt much better in these types of iron nail sites. Thanks for the tips. I'm a fan, nice vids.
By the way, I really hope people don't get the wrong idea about them digging with the bob cat. I know the owner of the land personally through family and they are great people. So if Michael says the landowner doesn't care, trust me, they don't. Very nice people. Just don't want people thinking they're horrible people destroying history...
Does the presence of nails draw down the numbers on a good target? For example....if a button normally reads 68 in an area without nails, would the same button read lower in an iron infested area?
Have you ever wondered why there is so many nails in the ground? Like some guy just walks through huge fields throwing nails around like it's a nail parade.
It's because most buildings burned down or just rotted so much freeing the nails from the wood and then though the years the farmers plow the fields so much that it spreads them out all over the place. It's good to keep in mind because that even happens with coins, a coin could of been dropped on one side of the field and over 100 or so years that coin could have been plowed to the total oppisite side of the field.
I went metal detecting but I found a gun from the civil war and there was a bullet in it so I cleaned it up and it still worked I also found a Indian Head penny from 1867 and right by it was a nother one from 1872 so I new there was a coin spill and I found 14 other ones from the 1800s then I found a bloody bandana then I left.
