a warning: the roaming bird can still appear, even when you're using the radar. I got to a roselia chain of 30 and then BOOM, ARTICUNO. I was slightly upset.

So you don't have to make sure the patch isn't near you or other patches once you start your chain? Is it really just grass shaking you have to worry about? I think the other factors are part of it too cause I could get to 15 before I got my chain broken quite often. Also I found my first shiny using the radar, but the bush didn't have shiny sparkles. I had just started the chain and the random piece of grass I walked in had a shiny Golett. so you have to keep that in mind too

you explained it extremely badly, that's not how chaining works honestly, yes you can reset and such but you can't use grass patchers that are shaking together or on the edge of it i recommend looking up a guide of it seems like you took someone who didn't know what they were talking about's advice

when your chaining does the pokemon you first fought have to be the exact same pokemon you fight/catch throughout the chain?

I have a quick question about shiny hunting with the radar. Is it possible to not even starting a chain yet, but somehow find a shiny Pokemon on the first patch of grass you walk into? This happened to me a few minutes ago with a shiny Bunnelby, but the patch wasn't shiny, and after catching it, the chain still continued. Did my game glitch up or something? Because I thought chains ended after finding a shiny.

Does the shiny charm up your odds, or is it like the Friend Safari where the odds are the same with and without the charm?

grr been trying to chain but i saw this one other vid about chaining and they mention how you have to focus on the grass movement from the first one you enter(which has the pkm you want) and from that movement that it did all the others you enter have to be the same or have the same movement is that true? =/

omg *thank you* I had no idea you could reset your radar in the middle of the chain by carefully avoiding the grass. I thought you had no choice but to enter the bad grass.

To make sure you don't break the chain, you have to always reset the radar by walking 50 steps every time you kill the non shiny pm UNTIL you see there is a big grass shake that is EXACTLY at either vertically or horizontally four steps far from you. In other words, the PM that keep your chain from breaking has at least 95 percent chance of being on the edge of 9steps*9steps square grass in which you are at the center of that square. Additionally, that shaky grass must be surrounded by normal grass, it can't be next to rock, river bank or road. OTHERWISE, you are more likely to break your chain. Actually if you don't follow this rule, it's almost impossible to keep 40 chains to find your wanted shiny pokemon.

Can you soft reset with eggs you have hatched continuously? Or is it already decided once the egg is given to you from the daycare.

so when i was doing chains i noticed you can knock berries out of the background tree using twister and sometimes i see a background grass patch, what can i do the the grass patch?

thejustinflynn things that I noticed while chaining for my shiny zoroark: 1. chaining is very much the same as in earlier games, but it's definitely not 100% the same. 2. Always. and I mean ALWAYS go into a patch that is either horizontally at least 4 steps or vertically at least 4 steps (or, for the corner pieces, both horizontally as vertically 4 steps) away. 3. If there is more than 1 patch of grass at least 4 horiz or 4 vert. away, RESET RADAR! lastly, don't go into patches with a dif. shake

I got two shinies in less than ten minutes. Ducklett with pokeradar chain 5! I was so lucky and the horsea was consecutive fishing and a chain around 50. I also have a shiny magikarp.

Also you dont have to step into shaking patches that are next to other shaking patches and also you have to go to the farthest from you

Want a challenge? Try and catch a shiny Raltz! There's only one route you can get her and the largest size of the grass patch in that route is still a bit small for this method. :P It's impossible to catch a shiny honedge though. The only route you can catch wild honedges is in a grass type that the radar won't let you use it on. You can't use the radar in the friend safari either (which probably would have made it too easy now that I think about it. :P ) You can use the radar in normal grass and in flower beds. ;)

Is there another route besides route 22 to chain Riolu? Honestly my highest chain was like 7 and it’s very VERY hard to encounter a Riolu on route 22

If your lead pokemon runs out of pp, does opening your menu and switching it with something else break your chain?

It might be luck (despite me not having any) but my chains have never broken on edges or straight lines (unless it's the minor shakes) both of which are discouraged. I think the problem with edges is that grass has to shake directly one square next to you so if that square isn't occupied by tall grass and nothing else shakes, broken chain

Does it have to be in normal grass and flower patches? Does it work in tall grass, like the ones found in Route 6?
