When you do tire size, what measurement are you looking for? The numbers on the tire or the diameter

@@jimberlygridder183 I use the tire size from the vendor. I calculate circumference within the spreadsheet. So I would put 295 in width 40 in sidewall and 20 in wheel and my spreadsheet will calculate the circumference.

All GM 3 or 4 speed automatics have a 3rd gear ratio of 1:1. The ratios of other gears (1,2, and 4) vary between the different models. The lower gears will have a ratio of less than 1:1 (higher first number) and 4th (or overdrive) will have a ratio greater than 1:1 hence the term "overdrive" (smaller first number). The 700R4 4th gear is 0.74:1 and the 200-4R 4th gear is 0.67:1 as examples. We don't refer to 1st and 2nd as "under drive" but they are, and 3rd is even money at 1 to 1, or "drive"

I could see maybe the differential having a stamp but the trans can be used in multiple vehicles with different rear ends, so how would the trans help you?

@@That_Car_Kidd because it tells you the gear ratio on the tag and the rear end ratio is also on a tag just cause it's used in different vehicles doesn't mean it has different ratios

@@thatmaverickguy859You must not know much about cars but that’s ok. Like the video said there is a mathematical equation for this,the final drive ratio is found by dividing the number of teeth on the ring gear by the number of teeth on the pinion gear. That being said if a trans is bolted to let’s say a differential with 4.10 gears the ring gear would have 41 teeth and the pinion gear would have 10. Ok now take the same trans bolted to 3.42 rear end, the ring gear would have the same amount of teeth so 41 but the pinion gear would have 12 teeth. So to conclude the trans has nothing to do with final drive ratio, same trans two different differentials and different final drive. Hope this helps bud 👍
