I always hate it when people say "you taught me in 5 minutes what my algebra teacher couldn't explain in 5 months!" You mean you weren't paying attention in class when your teacher taught this lesson. If every single math lesson was just 5 minutes long, I'm sure you would walk away from most math classes fully understanding the lesson. Unfortunately, there's a lot of content to unpack in a school year, so each class lesson is full of lots of mini lessons, and you probably were doodling or sitting on your phone for half of them.

What happens if there is a number before the y. Such as 4y when you are trying to substitute it into the other equation.

This video helped me so much. I'm in middle school doing advanced math, and my teacher barely teaches us, so your videos really help me keep up. Don't know how quickly you're gonna reply since this was so long ago but... HELP PLEASE. "Line l1 passes through the points (4,5) and (7,11). Line l2 has the equation 2y=3x-1. Do these lines intersect." Do I just need to sub these values into the equation and see if they work or something else. (We're doing parallel and perpendicular lines by the way.) Thanks! :)

It was better if you just multiplied x plus y =3 by 3 on both sides and then substract the two equations nd then put the value of y in equation to find the value of x

yes, hello i want to mention that for the 3x - 2y = 4 linear equatio weren't you just supposed to divide by 2 cause when you rearrange the equation from 3x - 2y = 4 to 2y= -3x + 4 divide all by 2 like 2y divide by 2 and -3x+4 divide by 2, werent supposed to do that?, sorry just to clarify that cause in my school the teached us that way, just to make sure.

Whilst this video is helpful, thumbs down because of the tanoy announcement and student questioning, it distracts and makes people have to wait to continue with his lecture, I would re-do the video because the information on it is good, just a shame for the distrations In short, you perform a matrice inversion to get the values of X and Y I did this as a computer program, and when I entered his values, I got the same answers for the intersection Thank you very much, I can submit my answers to my lecturer now Inverted Matrices.... The equations given are: EQ1: x + y = 3 EQ2: 3x, -2y = 4 In Matrice form that would look like [1,1] = [3] [3, -2] = [4] Switch over EQ1: X with EQ2: Y [-2,1] = [3] [3, 1] = [4] Negate EQ1: Y and EQ2: X (Multiply by -1) [-2,-1] = [3] [-3, 1] = [4] Then calculate the determinate Det = (-2 * 1) - (-1 * -3) -2 - 3 = -5 Det = -5 Now calculate the interim values for X and Y InterimX = (-2 * 3) + (-1 * 4) InterimY = (-3 * 3) + (1 * 4) X = InterimX / Det Y = InterimY / Det X = -10 / -5 Y = -5 / -5 X = 2.0 Y = 1.0

Or you could just put both equations in y=mx+b forrm. Then all you gotta do is input both equations , hit the graph button, hit 2nd button and then the trace button. Then scroll down to intersection point. Hit enter 3 times and you will the get the intersection point of both equations. I only do this method just to check my work in case I messed up with my algebra. All of this is for the TI-84 Plus CE.

I just hope officer Smith went to the Principal's conference room and Ms Garving went to the main office and NOT to the R9..!
