Boy oh boy after my last video on “How to Negotiate New Development Deals” did I get a lot of interest in asking negotiating tips for regular purchases (resales). I'm putting the link to that video at the end for those of you who haven't seen it.
WORDS TO REMEMBER: PRICE - PRESSURE - MOTIVATION
Motivation
-- Both sides have their motivation in the deal
-- PRO TIP: The best negotiations listen more and talk less
-- Once you know how and why their motivated you'll have additional leverage
Pressure
-- The fear of missing out shapes peoples decisions that they make
-- Is the seller worried that the market is going to shift and get less of a price?
-- Is the buyer ok with someone else living in the apartment they want?
Price
-- Ultimately buying and selling has a price
-- What price is the buyer ok with walking away from the deal and letting the other guy have it
-- What is the least amount the seller will accept to fulfill their motivation
EQUATION TO REMEMBER: DATA + MOTIVATION = LEVERAGE
-- Know your market, find the motivation, and let the pressure sink in
