Thanks for all of your videos, I used to suck at singing and I've been doing your exercises for a year and a half and my range is from G2- F5 or G#5 if I consentrait. Thank, I'm a 16 year old boy and when I sing I feel confident.
I can't really tell if I'm using my chest voice or not when I hit higher pitches, and often when I try your exercises, I find myself naturally going into falsetto. I don't know what it's supposed to feel like to achieve a head voice.
Good point...many coaches believe to know the difference but they dont. An it is clear they go into falsetto as well claiming it as head voice...anyway, it should not matter if you hit high notes and it sounds good.
Check your resonance you'd know what vocal effect you're using in simple term check where you're feeling the vibration any moderate vibration could imply you're on your head voice but if its more pronounced you're being nasal though nasality is also a vocal effect in some genre
As far as I can remember, I haven't actually been able to switch into a head voice or even falsetto, singing or not. Nothing I've ever tried ever helps and just end up straining my vocal chords. Gonna try out these exercises and see if they make any difference 👍
I think this video has finally helped me realise (after literally years!) that there’s a distinction between head voice and falsetto - some people use the terms interchangeably as though they’re the same thing but I guess not. I always seemed to only have two choices when trying to sing higher: pull chest voice and sound strained or flip to falsetto and sound ridiculous. But this video helped me find that lighter speech-like quality which I guess is true head voice - it’s not that tense flutey sound of falsetto nor trying to hold onto the full strength of chest voice. I always thought I was searching for mixed voice but turns out I probably hadn’t properly found head voice. Now I’ve found it and can know it for what it is, it feels like I can probably strengthen it and then achieve that elusive mixed voice. Exciting!
Love the inclusivity of the gender spectrum. I'm here because I am a trans guy and I haven't been able to access my head voice since my voice dropped, funny that I got to experience the ease of a typical female range and the difficulty of a typical male range.
I can't do head voice at all and it baffles me. It's just shaky air. I've had people tell me it's easy, just position it in the nose and create power using the diaphragm but nope there's nothing there. I've tried to find it for years but I don't understand.

🙏 make an effort and elaborate more on the subject of falsetto and head voice. Some coaches say falsetto is graspy othe says, head voice is hollow like on OMG, LIKE THIS, OR THAT. the true is I dont understand what was meant to be..please try and in the name of so many wannabes like us, give us something more than hope. Blessings 🙏.
Aha I love that you mentioned MGK, I sing to instrumentals all the time but whenever I start doing punk rock I get all sorts of strain going on and ironically MGK is one of my favourite artists in that genre.
It's really cool to hear you talking about genders. I'm a trans man and I started taking testosterone shots one year ago, which means I'm a 22 year old that sounds like a 12 year old. I was at a show last night and I realized I just sing with my chest voice, and that makes me strain a lot and sometimes I feel like I'm putting so much pressure there that my throat is going to explode. It feels impossible to sing in head voice (the voice disappears after a few seconds and then there's just air passing through) and it varies from day to day. I don't know how much of my struggle comes from the muscular changes (I may need one more year to have my new voice fully formed) or just from not practicing enough. Gonna give myself a chance and study my voice while it is not done. :)
im a few months on t and have the same issues. i found a saved livestream here on youtube of a dude talking about getting your headvoice back after puberty, and there were a lot more exercises and methods of finding the head voice again, as well as details on how it changes and why it doesnt work the same anymore. if you find anything else, plz share bc i am also struggling lmao
@@ravenzaphara5513 oh boy, it's terrible am I right? but i'm trying to get back on track. if you could share the name of the livestream, it'd help me a hell of a lot! and if i find anything else that works, i'll get back here ;)
@@enesitsme power to sing Livestream how to get head voice after puberty I'm wading thru the Livestream when I can but I'm so nervous doing the exercises around my roommates lmao. There's no elegant way to do it unfortunately. My other issue is when I sing my new low registry I sound like a country singer and I like metal lmao. Rip
Last year i can freely Use my head voice. But after pandemic my head voice wont come ou. it becomes soundless and i can't reach it and sometime i can reach it but its sound weird. Hope i can use my head voice again like a year ago
You can do it. Just be kind to yourself and gently start working that head voice again. We have lots of head voice videos here on youtube, and you can check out our singing killer quiz for more personalized tips too bit.ly/2QjOx2t
I feel like, after many years of not having a clue, my voice is conditioned to just go into falsetto, even when I'm trying not to. That owl noise refuses to not come out in falsetto 😆, same with the ghost. I can sometimes feel it like a 'gear change' in the throat and its extremely irritating.

have you found a solution? because I have the same problem. I try to go into head voice (aka light but still full voice) but end up in disconnected falsetto. my voice just won't thin out as I go higher ...
Hi Emma! Everybody's vocal range is different, so one person's chest voice will be different to someone else's. It sounds like maybe you're an alto or maybe a mezzo, and E3-A4 is a great chest voice range. I hope this helps!
Hey, I know you posted this a year ago, but if you read this and are interested in updating your idiolect on addressing the traditionally Male and Female vocal ranges and differences, a non-gendered terminology I've been using is AFAB (assigned female at birth) and AMAB (assigned male at birth) it's unassuming and gives a decent nod to the physiological differences in the vocal chords and throat anatomy. Either way, lovely explanation I've been struggling to understand how to get to my head voice and you helped explain the AMAB challenge of using it lol
whoa, never expected to see this, since a patient would most likely be at a severe state, by severe meaning that it has toxicated them, it could settle, it could neutral, but never be free, not by any universal means... and this video would, hopefully of course, eliminate certain cause of escalation by dominating it... and then again, hopefully, did a reasonable result.
Hello, I have a question. When I sing higher notes I realize that I'm using my head voice. I'm confused and I don't know how to belt or something like that. Thank you for your videos, they help so much!
Good question! Head voice is exactly what you want to use when you're in your higher registering. "Belting" can be extremely stressful on your voice. If you want more power in those top notes you can try using a more nasal mixed tone, as well as working to strengthen and develop your head voice so it sounds stronger. I hope this helps.
So, since you spoke about gender fluidity and head voice, does a trans man have an easier time finding his /her head voice since he/she identifies as a woman?
I clicked on this because I wanted to sing higher cause I thought I wasn't able to find my head voice. The way you described it, I guess I already have. So I guess my range just isn't that high?
is there any vocal coach in the comments or a professional that would like to contact me to review one of my singing audios ? just wanna make sure if this a mix or a head voice
Hi! I'm sorry about that. You can head to www.superiorsingingmethod.com and you should be able to purchase from there. Alternatively you can email us at support@superiorsingingmethod.com and someone will help you get started.
I payed for your singing Course but now Im trying to log in and its saying that my password and email doesn't match. I tried to give my email to reset it and I never receive the email in my inbox. If this keeps happening I want a refund!
Good, educational video. But can we stop saying machine gun Kelly is punk? I don’t usually defend the punks, but even I can’t help but wince every time someone calls him punk
Love that! Everyone has a different range, it sounds like you might be a Baritone or even a Bass. Either way, you'll still have a head voice - it just won't be as high as a tenor's, for example.
