Hey bro, sorry for my english (i'm dumb), i was watching your video and then i decided to play a bit of the game, but my game is BROKEN I don't know why, but these things are going on: - I can't finish Bedman? arcade because when another match is going do start (any match after Baiken match) it ocurrs an error saying that my console don't have enough memory (?), something like that. And then the game closes suddendly. - I have Bridget and Sin unlocked, BUT I DID NOT BOUGHT THE DLC. It's insane bro, i can play with the characters normally, wtf. - I have colors that i did not bought too (from 7 up to 12) for Bridget, Sin and Asuka (i have asuka unlocked, but i never did paid any color for him or the other characters). - I also have two more stages that i did not paid too (Fairy's Forest Factory, Tír na nÓg). Bro... I'm just saying this to you to ask if you know how i can enter in contact with the staff or something like that, or if there is an way to fix this problem. This shit is insane, man. I'm scared of deleting the game to install again and new problems showing up.

Only reason I'm not in this comment is because Elphelt also exists. Bridget was the big draw, but I suck at fighting games, so held off. But then I watched all of El's arcade mode and was like, yep, gotta get this game now. Completely surprised by how much I like her. I main him because of his interesting archetype. on character select, they have archetypes listed for each character (zoner, power, rushdown, balanced, unique). happy chaos goes in close sometimes with good combos, but doesn't lack range options either. he doesn't have particularly high damage, and he certainly isn't a jack of all traits. so you would think they would put him in the unique category. no. he gets his own category to himself. Happy chaos's archetype is shooting.

Here's my advice: Don't stress yourself out about finding a main when first starting out. If you're just playing casually there's no stress trying to pick that character immediately, having a main is necesary to improve once you want to do that, but if you just want to get the grip of things and dunno who to pick just pick whoever you want and eventually somebody will click naturally. Several times I've found a main in a game that I didn't even decide "Aight, imma main them", I just enjoyed them at first and they naturally clicked in that position.

With how steep (the sometimes imagined) learning curve is with fighting games, the character crisis tends to be a form of procrastination and ego-defense. It's easier to loop around trying to find the right fit for you in a main, than to face the looming threat of defeat and the inevitable hours in the lab afterwards. From what I've seen, the crisis is a predominantly beginner issue and tends to occur at the level where they do not have a grasp on the system mechanics. It's like trying to learn how to ride a bike, before ever trying to hop onto a saddle. Or I guess postponing the process of learning until they have found the perfect bike to ride on.

What i did for picking up Potemkin as my main: first got strive, which is my first real fighting game, and then messed around for 1 to 2 days in training mode and with my friend. After playing half the cast and playing one match with pot, i knew he was the one. Then i looked up an in depth guide for him (1 hour and 16 minutes, thanks roofelmonger) and played around in training mode for about 3 to 4 hours while following the guide and trying out new things. Here i am 9 months later doing kara cancels and watching top level players to find new combos for different situations. Man fighting games are fun.

Sometimes, first impressions matters. When I started playing GGST (my first FG) I started with Gio, because she looks cool and easy, but as I began to play regularly, I told myself "she'll quickly be redundant", so I picked I-no, absolutely hated her hoverdash, and swapped to Anji. I learned a lot playing Anji, I like his gameplay, but I didn't get the same feeling as some other characters, like I wasn't that comfortable in calling myself an Anji main despite loving the gameplay, because I wasn't that fond of the character itself. So after a long break, I picked Jack-O because I love her design, personnality, and near limitless possibilities. But I'm not great with hard characters, and even while loving her gameplay, having the best step up of overall knowledge of the game, etc... I still had this hunch that it wasn't right. And guess what, I came back to Giovanna. And God do I love her. And even after all that, I still had fun with Anji and Jack-O, and I learned a lot of things with them I probably wouldn't have if I never dropped Gio, so don't be afraid if you struggle to find a main quickly, it's never lost if you're learning/having fun !

My introduction to fighting games was learning how to play Voldo in SC6 despite being told he's among the most complex characters to pick up for a beginner. His animations and movements were just so rad. Turns out I dig a trial by fire if the character jives with me, because every single game I end up gravitating to whoever has some cryptic ass mechanics or weird execution. Strange gameplans are what screw me up when I'm starting out. Voldo may have 4 or 5 stances with various moves putting you in or out of them, but his basic idea of FS = pokes and whiff punishes, BS = better, stubby buttons, and MC = mixups was easy to grasp despite the surrounding complexity. Compare that to Yuzu in UNI, and I had a lot more trouble figuring out *how* to play until I figured out how to boil her down a bit, despite happily getting used to her mechanical side.

My strategy that I've used since SF:3S is just: Looking at the roster, then picking whoever looks the coolest to me. It's worked out great so far, playing Twelve in my first fighter, to Noob Saibot, Nagoriyuki and now Avatar/Belial. It's always such a blast seeing someone decide on their main, it says a lot about them and in reality is usually a very deep rooted choice :)

Earlier this year, I had a character crisis in Strive. When the game just came out, my first main was Ky. I liked his design and his gameplay. He's extremely easy to play, his combos are simple and intuitive, his damage is high, and he has options for every situation. I was a beginner in Guilty Gear, since Strive is my first serious dive into the series (I played a bit of the previous games when I was a kid, but it was never hardcore), so he was perfect for me. Plus, I don't like very technical and execution-heavy characters in general. However, playing a lot of him ended up being very boring for me, just as it was with SF6 Ken for Gekko here. I still like to play him, but now I only occasionally do that in casual sets against my friend. My second main was Bridget. I liked her for... the wrong reasons, but her gameplay was interesting and fun too. However, she ended up being not for me. Too much risk and execution for not enough reward. Even though I got into Celestial with her many times, at some point I just stopped having fun with the character. It was just pure sweat, and when I play like that, I get tilted easily when I lose. So, I was kinda stuck. Then, just as I was about to almost drop the game, Johnny came out and dragged me back into it. I'll never have a character crisis again. This character is just too good. Ever since the game came out, he was my most expected DLC character because I really like his looks and personality. I like characters who are like that in any fighting game and, if there are any, I tend to pick them as my mains. Johnny Cage is my favorite MK character, for example. I mained him in MK11, and would've mained him in MK1, if I had bought the game. So, when ArcSys announced Johnny at EVO this year, I was ecstatic. After hearing about what he was like in Xrd, I was a bit afraid he'd be too execution-heavy and complicated in Strive, but I was determined to overcome that. I didn't have to. He ended up being just perfect for me. I've been playing him non-stop for almost four months already, and I'm still having so much fun.

I often have one or several characters I'm interested in before trying the game, I try them, and if I like how they play, I main them. That was Makoto in Street Fighter, King and Iori in Kof... So far the game where it took me the most time to pick a main was Blazblue. At first I tried Valkenhayn, since I liked the "gentleman werewolf" concept, but it didn't click. The other characters that interested me was Hakumen, but as a newbie casual, I didn't quite grasp how he worked, most of the other characters didn't quite attract me so for a while I played Tagger because I liked how playing him felt, and Ragna (since he is easy). Then finally, after I was familiar with the game, I read Hakumen tutorial, and tried him again, finally settling on him as my main.

When I was introducing my friend to ggst, I thought him to mark 3-5 characters they find interesting in design because why do you play the character if you dont like the whole design. I told him not to care about difficulty. Just to pick 3-5 characters. After that, I thought him everything unique with the character. I dont remember what exactly he picked but I remember explaining zato and why is he really hard and he dropped him after telling him about the puppet mechanics. Then we got into the training mode and started doing basic atks, air atks, and so on, then specials and supers. Then he tries to do a combo, doesnt matter how shiny it isx it just needs to be a combo. Then, after that, I tell him noob friendly optimal combos, I know. We did this for all 5 characters, and he chose to play with anji, and to this date, he still mains with him.

Then it was Millia, for a bit, and then back to Jam (I was able to do brutal combos now!) Once I got confident enough, I got back to Dizzy and, slowly, learned how to handle her. I was destroying everyone with her in a matter of days. It was her mojo that kept me trying and the experience I gained that let me try again. Sometimes you like a character's design so much you want to make them do cool stuff. So, yeah. ❤ Every character has a specialty and sometimes there are transitory characters that show you the way...

How I decide my main in Fighting games is... - go to training room, arcade, story or whatever "safe" environment the game has. - start picking characters and just mash buttons to see what characters I jell with at least at a first impression level - pick my favorite among these as my first main. - over time I play other characters cause I don't like doing the same thing over and over. I switch up characters after some rounds cause I get bored. - this leads into potentially switching mains as I find either more fun or more success in another character. This is what happened in Strive. I picked up Ram at the start cause waifu, big strong buttons, and among the base roster she was my favorite. But she dropped to secondary once I started playing Testament who I perform much better with. In GBVS I am deciding between Vira and Cagliostro rn. Both are really fun and I will definitely play both but it remains to be seen which one I'll end up playing more. Characters/things I avoid: - grapplers. Don't like em - big slow characters. Not a deal breaker. I like Nogoriyuki. But I often stand clear from them. - complex buttons/motions/combos/other mechanics. I strong reason I switched to Test in Strive is the fact she is the ONLY character that doesn't a half circle input. I can handle charge motions, quarter and DP, but I hate half circles and dread full circles. I also suck at combos so any way I can circumvent that even a little and that's good. So basically I gravitate to big normals and zoners. Tho rushdown isn't off the table.

Whenever I start a new fighting game, I just pick any character purely based on looks/vibe. Then I discover their moveset and playstyle. After spending a couple hours with that character I don't feel like switching mains and just stick to them. For example my mains in different games are: Mk11: Joker - a midrange setup character. Mk1: Johnny - rushdown mixup character. Sf6: Cammy - goddess of footsies. GGST: Testament - full on zoner. And now GBVR: Katalina - basic ass shoto.

I’ve found if you like a character and can learn their gameplay then you’ll be fine. In Tekken I started out a king main until I could learn how to kbd properly then I would switch to Bryan who I always thought was the coolest character in game. After a few months of playing Bryan it eventually clicked and I haven’t looked back since. However I tend to stray away from other technical characters. I’m not really one to go to the lab for half an hour before going online.

My way of choosing a main is simple, find someone who looks appealing, try their moveset and lab with it, if the character doesn't feel like you can manage it as a non-competitive fighting game character then try another one. I myself thought i could use Nagoriyuki as a competitive character only to get folded multiple times, now as baiken i am a 10F player that understands how every matchup works with her

I wanted my main to be happy chaos but I could NOT play him when I started.😂 I focused on ky but found him a little dull and then moved to axl but didn't entirely like zoning. Another way to pick a main that I wanted to list is liking the voice actor for the character. I've been maining Luke in Street Fighter 6 solely because of how much Aleks Le adds to his character by being a goofball online through voicing memes and making his own memes. It made me like the character way more, and I've mained him since the game launched.

Honestly, I'm kind of the same in some regards. Usually If I see a character that visual looks appealing, though design, personality etc. I test them out and get a feel for them. Sometimes all things come aline together and is a win-win. Like for me with Leo in Strive, my friends call me Leo and I go by that name so I'm like "Okay I got play this character definally" and even outside of the general game play I just love the man what with the lion motif going on and all. Sometimes you gotta just vibe with character you want to main, and I've been a Leo main day one. But also just a lot things can also factor such as external things such as your general likes and dislikes and preferences. Another example when I decide to play Granblue after watching the anime and reading the manga and a bunch of other things I just know I loved Katalina and I mained her playing Granblue and still do though I have been considering a secondary main which is fine if do you get tired of your first main there's nothing wrong with that as I'm still going to play Katalina just maybe play someone else from time to time. But sometimes I just connect or pick my main on a more personal intimate level and reasons for me anyway.
@Spiritxiii
@Spiritxiii 5 месяцев назад
When trying to find a main, I have a 5-Step process: 1) What kind of game am I playing? 2D Grounded, 2D Anime, Platform Fighter, Team Fighter? Because I will often have different preferences for each. 2) Who aesthetically appeals to me? As you stated, we're be looking & hearing this character for awhile, might as well enjoy it. 3) Does their gameplay appeal to me? Easily the most important factor. 4) Is this character in my skill range? If a character is too simple, they'll often not appeal to me. Conversely, if a character is too difficult, I'll try to work up to them. 5) Does it feel good to win with them? Easily the most subjective, but I want too feel like I earned my victory in a fight, or achieved a personal victory with them even If I don't end up winning the match. My Mains: - Phoenix Wright in UMVC3 alongside Amaterasu & Sentinel. Win or lose, if I make it to Turnabout Mode, I won in my heart. My assists aim to help achieve that goal while being backup plans in my skill range. - Manon in SFVI: if I get to 5 Medals, I feel I've won. It feels good to KO someone with Manège Doré. - Isabelle in Smash Ultimate: It feels good to take stocks with Fishing Rod, Gyroid Rocket, and Back-Air Slingshot.

Before I even bought "Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising" I KNEW I was gonna main Zeta - she just fitted my playstyle perfectly. Now, I've used all the characters and Zeta was indeed really fun... But Zooey just spoke to me and became my main - which surprised even me, since generally I don't gravitate towards characters like her (for example, with additional meter to manage). By the way... The game itself is OUTSTANDING.

not gonna lie 2 types of characters that i specialize the most are: safety-abandon berserker type characters and counter heavy characters both of those being ones i have a hard time finding- what i mean by those two exactly? well with safety-abandon berserkers i am taking about aggressive characters with a lot of super-armor moves that just constantly keep attacking even when they get hurt; for most moves there is no stun lock from being hit, they'll get hit but they'll just keep hitting and with counter heavy... those are a lot more rare, to the point i can't really find any clear example-counter-heavy characters are characters that well.. rely on counter-attacking the enemy; whenever the enemy attacks you have the chance to punish them, basically. their moveset relies almost entirely on counter-attacks, deflection and parries, no pressure, no defense; just counter-attack, the game. and i can't really find that in a proper fighting game sadly-2-3 rpg's but that's about all the luck i had; if you have any suggestions feel free to tell me; the only good example i found is Raiden from Metal Gear Rising, but that is a single player game-
@sahkovalo
@sahkovalo 5 месяцев назад
Hakumen from Blazblue fits the second type. I should point out that parry type characters still need to do footsies and pressure etc and the fear of the parry is as important, if not more, than the parry itself similar to grapplers with command grabs.
@chronred8190
@chronred8190 5 месяцев назад
@@sahkovalo the idea is more so an entire moveset designed for parrying rather than a certain move; or if not that then a whole mechanic attached to various moves

@@sahkovalo i also tend to prefer the moves being able to flow into each other, giving one the ability to turn a light combo into a light-heavy one or a light-special one at any time, or mixing in light, heavy and special, or a special into a heavy, you get the point; essentially a majority of the moves being able to combo into each other

I think this is missing a very important aspect of the "top tier" debate, during the happy chaos wars there was a very real issue, he was very strong, but also very toxic and lame (thats subjective i know, but not really) I have a friend who loves chaos's vibe (and winning) so he picked him up, if you've ever mained an overpowered character or know someone who does then you know people will go out of their way to let you know how awful a person you are for playing that character, how none of your wins are your own and you would suck without your toxic character. what im trying to say is, if you dont think you can handle the social lashes then you probably shouldn't play a character people consider "unfair" some people could realistically quit due to backlash

For me, it's more of the social stigma to it. My personality says that I don't care what they think, but my anxiety does. If I ever get into Street Fighter 6, I REALLY wanna main JP becuase he just looks so fucking cool dude. Ever since hos trailer i've wanted to main him. But turns out he's top 1 and everyone fucking hates him. It's also hard for me becuase most of the characters i have interest in are usually low to mid tier. K Rool in Smash and Faust in Strive. So having the character i'm interested in actually be super good is just foreign to me.

On the topic of picking a character that's strong, it's not always fun to play them, I mained C-Roa in MBAACC as my first character due to this playstyle, but ultimately found him extremely boring to play the more I got better with him because he has almost has no weaknesses, It's so boring when you're not even playing him properly in a match and you still win either way due to how insanely strong he is. Take for example Kazuya from Tekken, he's a highly-commital mixup character that requires reads in order to effectively punish players, or ABA from GGAC+R that has players try to manage their meter in Moroha mode, or F-Kouma from MBAACC that has the hardest bnb's I've ever seen. All of these characters I've managed to have found fun by working around what they suck at. A character is not defined just by their strengths but also their weaknesses. Which is why I tend to play 'harder' characters because they can provide so much fun just by learning and playing them exclusively.
