Thanks again Lori these videos. Especially light sources I have had trouble with it since I started coloring this was soooooooo helpful. Bless your heart ❤ for doing this New channel 🙏 🙌 ❤ What a blessing ❤ 💖. 🙏 🙌
OMG Lori, Thank you!!! i have, finally, a clearer understanding of lighting. I do a lot of coloring for Zentangle patterns, aka ZIA's, and have more pencils and pens than most girls have shoes, makeup or clothes.... i have struggled with how to make my drawings dimensional in color as well as with different linework techniques. in addition to pen and ink i love watercolor, and recently decided to learn how to use the carbothello pastel pencils for blending, as they are water soluble in a way that pleases me, dual functionality is a learning curve for certain. My sketchbook drawings are my version of coloring books. the star joy gold are awesome; learning from and with you all how to make colors from smaller sets, or limited palettes is wonderful. if anyone has a heart for beginners, you're the bomb-diddly-do-er. my mom started out as a photographer's colorist before color photos were the main game. her parents weren't too supportive of her gifts so she, the maverick bohemian artist, along with my dad's younger brother, were the ones who inspired me draw, even though they were way more creative, adventurous, bold and big in all their productivity. their influences beyond their lives, keeps me humble and grateful, and often poorer in pocket as resources are saved up for. so.... i was today years old when i learned about centerlight vs highlight. and yesterday's posting about how to hold a pencil and layer... well... duh... i thought i knew that too but apparently, did not. i think a lot of so-called beginner tutorials miss bits, perhaps like my frustration with computer geeks who go so fast there's one tiny click they do automatically that i missed and can't go back and figure out... i've wasted so much time, money, energy and truly, tools that do not work the way i expected, or was experienced enough to work with, that your instructions actually overlap half a dozen unrelated areas of interest in my world. my art goals for this year include shading, layering, drop shadows, composition and plein air sketchng. while i often feel intimidated by others, i do not know at times how to progress, and you said something important a few videos back, that intermediates need to be pushed to grow, and they need basics to ensure the foundation is secure. major thankyou's to you, and gratitude for all your direct and sidebar shares... when i grow up.... i wanna draw like you... blessings.
I've basically given up trying to learn the light and shadow stuff, it always seems so easy, but when I go to an actual picture - not so much anymore, maybe it is just beyond my comprehension, I've never been particularly artistically inclined
Lori, i have been trying to find your email address, i saw something today i thought you might want to know about. Please let me know what it is when your feeling up to it.
