Lol my homework was never actual "home"work, as soon as my classes ended I would go straight to the library, do all of it and then I could do whatever I wanted for the rest of the day. Same thing when studying for exams, library was my best friend :)

It's not _impossible_ for me to work at home, but I do notice that I work significantly slower at home than I do when I'm in the campus library. I've scheduled my classes a couple hours apart from each other just so I can force myself to stay on task, keep focus, and do all my work so when I come home, you best believe I'm gonna nap without worries.

Well my "doing homework" technique is simply doing a half as soon as i get home and then finish the other half later at night or maybe if there is a period allowed until the deadline comes i can divide the homework on this period so that i don't exhaust my brain and still can benefit from it as much i can.

A trick for my math homework is to find the general solutions to the specific problems I was asked to solve. I'd get columns of derivations that I had to make and, rather than solving each one at a time, I'd create a general purpose problem which contained all the possible components that the math problems could have and then solving for that general problem. I even showed it to my math teacher and he was okay with it, provided that I showed in my notes how the general purpose problem related to the specific problem I'd be trying to solve. Because I eventually understood the general purpose problem so well, solving the specific ones was very easy. Meanwhile, I was also able to detect when a specific problem did not adhere to my general purpose problem anymore, unlike other students, so I was quicker to take a step back rather than attempt to brute-force the equation. This also works for other subjects, but it works best when solving equations. Helped me a lot during business courses too.

Cried about quarantine homework for an hour and watched like 10 videos about this.

I can’t make a schedule because I have 4-5 hours of homework a day and I try to be happy. But that requires me staying up all night doing homework.

I’ve been on RU-vid for 4 hours trying to figure out how to do homework and I probably could’ve finished it in those 2 hours and be asleep but instead I’m up at 2am watching videos.

I have an assignment that was due 2 weeks ago and my teacher gave me extra time so I have to turn it in by tomorrow at 3 pm but I still haven't started it because every time I think about it I have a panic attack. I'm going to fail. I got extra time and I passed but it wasn't very good.

I come from school at 1:30am , have my lunch at 2 and do math till 4. Then I choose a subject and study till 6 before I pack up for classes. I return at 8:30 having no time left for homework and assignments. If I sacrifice my sleep , I feel tired the next day which messes up its time table . What should I do so I can study as well keep my books complete?

If you take notes, ask questions in class when you need to, set quiet priva time aside to focus and do it, it doesn even feel like HW, it feels like part of the lessons you already go to.

Basically this video tells you to do your homework in a focused space, review what your homework is on before starting, do your homework in a specific time frame to give you motivated focus, and work on the hard ones first then move on to an easier problem if you get stuck and then go back to the hard problem and so on.

I'm a good student but I'm extremely inefficient, and these videos have generally never helped me. However, I've been doing most of my homework at school since siwth grade, and that has tremendously helped me. The other thing that has helped me is working very late at night.

Your channel is the best channel! Really I've become such a disciplined person thanks to this techniques. Studying engineering in animation, making comics, youtube, social life and self-teaching myself korean. My boyfriend respects my space but My number one struggle is family and friends. I have a hard time saying NO, because I feel like I should give them one afternoon every single week to each of them. They interrupt me very often even If I stay in my room without going out, and there are many things (such as help with a hurt bird or anything that seems as important). Interruptions are hard for me to recover from, although I try to use the 5 second rule by Mel Robins to get back on, still I feel I stop being as productive as I was before them coming in. When there are too many of those events in a row I even start getting in a bad mood and less motivated. So I guess I should start going to the library more often, listening to your video! Sigh Do you have other tips though?

Can you make a channel that give summary of talks such as commencement speeches or TED talks?

4:05 Well I used to do that most of the time but it disengaged my focus in the lesson. What I do now is actively listen and don’t take notes at all and it is actually helped me wonders, EVEN THOUGH I just switched to that way of learning. For me it has become really helpful in math, especially because the teacher gets straight to the point and doesn’t try to make any jokes. What I mean by jokes is like: “oh! And I remember that time when I was in...” or simply start to tell any story. And it is the exact opposite with my biology teacher, she does that all the time, and it just drives my attention to what she is saying that isn’t even related to the subject AT ALL. When she does that (the biology teacher) it makes me wonder and have curiosity about what she said and not about the lesson. She also goes super slow, and that’s because there are 6 Special ED kids in class, and honestly it’s tiring 😣 So in conclusion: by annotating as much as possible in class I got more distracted, and now that I only listen and pay attention... I have better grades. Yes, my grades in biology are not all that good. My geometry grades are much better. By the way, I have a regular biology class, and have an Advanced Geometry/Data Analysis class. I AM NOT, BY ANY MEANS SAYING THAT TAKING NOTES IS A BAD THING, it just didn’t work for me. I do though try to make the most out of the notes that the teacher tells us to write and sometimes add to them myself after class, following many of the teicks that I’ve learned from this channel 😊

Do you have tips regarding reading comprehension? I constantly struggle with being able to read something, process it, and then actually REMEMBER it! I continue to read and read, but I don't end up being able to truly retain it.

A good layout if your planner is a good idea too, for my online college I type what I need to do for the week in Word by putting the class and when the assignments are due then on the next line, tab over and put the assignments.

My teachers like to give me hours of homework idk I guess they think I'm a robot and I don't have to sleep. I shouldn't have to sacrifice my sleeping schedule to get good grades.

Study buddy! I used to come to college at 9 in the morning each day and stayed until 4-5 each afternoon so I'd finish all my homework at school. The way this works best is if you have someone to keep you accountable to keep coming in on time and actually do the work. I found that having a study buddy who is at my level but with a slightly different skillset really helps because you can see the problem in a different way so you can help each other out when you get stuck.

So after watching this video I'll be able to finish my homework as fast as I came here to watch this video? Which is a little late, it seems... But it's still faster than my usual speed.

Thomas I love your channel and eventhough I am not in college anymore your tips and lessons still help me in my daily life. I can only imagine how difficult it mus be to keep this channel in schedule, but I really think you should branch out more. Give more lifetips and review books that are interesting.

Logically, the first tip should also work if you just do the easy questions and then go to the harder ones since even in that situation both parts of your mind are activated... also if you do it like that, then your mind achieves more of a sense of continuity when it’s disengaging from problems midway.

Do you have any videos on studying for things over the long term (basically learning bew stuff without forgetting the old)? Whether it's standardized tests (SAT/MCAT etc.) or studying for stuff like midterm and final exams? I've always struggled with more cumulative tests because I tend to forget the material from earlier weeks.

The first step I've been doing since I was 7. Basically my mind set was: "If I finish the hard stuff, once I get to the easy stuff I'll cruise through"
