This video shows to how to install a crimp on BNC plug connector onto a RG59 cable for CCTV installations. The BNC connector is the most common plug used in analogue CCTV systems and HD-TVI systems.
Tools you will need to install the BNC plug:
1x BNC Crimp Tool
1x Stanley Blade / Utility Knife
1x Side Cutters
Step by Step
1) Insert the BNC ring onto the coaxial cable
2) Using a Stangley Blade or ultility knife, but back about 1nc/2.5cm of the PVC outer jacket and expose braiding and center conductor
3) Fold back cable braid over PVC jacket and cut dielectric to correct length exposing center conductor.
4) Fit BNC pin onto center conductor
5) Insert cable into main BNC body and push until you hear a small click
6) Push metal ring over cable braid and over BNC body.
7) Using BNC crimp tool, crimp metal ring.
8) Cut back excess cable braid.

You need a bnc cable stripper tool and a bnc crimper that has a stinger crimper. These are not expensive. You want to crimp the stinger cap so it isn't loose and doesn't introduce interference into the cable.

What happens when you have a stranded centre core, not solid, can you crimp it or do you have to solder it?

Please forgive me if I'm asking you a stupid question. We have a Sannce DMS 8308 DVR at work and a camera failed a long time ago. A colleague purchased 2 swann hd bullet cameras also a long time ago (too long ago to return). These cameras don't seem to work on this system 🤦🏻. I am good with a soldering iron even on circuit boards, do you think there is a way to resolder the video feed from the board?. Thanks in advance 👍🏻

very simple and helpful. just a quick question if you or anyone experience kindly reply. I am planning to do my own cctv with help from a friend who is good with DIY. I m hoping to add hikvision 3k camera. so coax wire I have got two cable (one u explained) what do I do with the other one? do I need to connect to the cctv if yes what type of connection I need, name of the connector. or just attaching one you just shows is enough for cctv to record and run smoothly with no issue. if that's the case why coax got two wire lol. sorry for dumb question, go easy on me lol first DIY project

It sounds like you're referring to a DC plug. You will need a male and a female one. One goes camera end (male) and the other at your PSU.

Hi Josh. Yes but only with a POC (power over coax) compatible camera and DVR. Otherwise you will need a separate DC connection.

hello , i have a cctv cable but the inside is not copper but silver and i can't solder why ?
@smartaerials

It's most likely a steel conductor cable (not as good as copper). I'm not sure why it can't be soldered.

You forgot to crimp the center conductor pin
@joesav37
@joesav37 2 года назад
Hi and thanks for the video. What if the cable, like the one I'm having trouble with, doesn't have one solid pin going down the center but instead has a bunch of thin wires twisted together? It's harder to get the center BNC pin to fit on those wires. Does anyone have any advice on how to crimp on the center pin, in that case? Thanks very much.

How would i add a power conector??
@smartaerials
@smartaerials 4 года назад
I haven't got a video for that yet, will make one. Essentially buy some DC connectors, will need 1x male/ 1x female for each camera. Bare back the copper and screw down in +/- terminals. I hope this helps.

Here you go, pins come with the connector. Buy a few spare if I was you, so easy to lose the pins! cpc.farnell.com/pro-signal/rw1-003-b-zinc/bnc-male-crimp-type-rg59u-zinc/dp/CN15969?mckv=sLgvvrtT0_dc|pcrid|224645161149|kword||match||plid||slid||product|CN15969|pgrid|45968746254|ptaid|pla-891140135454|&CMP=KNC-GUK-CPC-SHOPPING&gclid=Cj0KCQjw7qn1BRDqARIsAKMbHDaxQYQs14cf8iep8NW7GNHVm1r8bvvQQhgzWihUxPM-NuDxN9TgalUaAu-JEALw_wcB
