Did your company not trust you to allow you to remove the swinging label from the product before lighting it? Great video though and I just love gas lamps for camping or outdoors, they have such an ambience, but as we know should be treated safely and with respect.
From someone who owned Camping Gaz lanterns but now owns Coleman (petrol) Tilley, and Vapalux/Bialaddin (paraffin) lanterns. Yes you are right it will but don't turn the gas on too hard. Just a breeze to burn off the mantle at first. Then if you are keen buy some paraffin pressure lanterns. Don't buy on eBay buy at a car boot or country show. Learn how to fettle a lantern, then get to love the slightly yellower light and the gentle and reassuring hiss.
The better ball shape of the mantle while installing it you achieve the brighter it will be. Once in place just turn gas on and light it. This method with lighter is bad and one can burn onself
There's a gas flame inside when the lamp is on. The flame heats the mantle, which is made of materials that glow brightly, brighter than the flame itself. You have to burn the mantle before using it, as the material that glows is really delicate. Once it's burned, it's just a framework of ash, barely strong enough to hold its own weight up. This material is infused into the cloth of the mantle for ease of storage. There's a channel called technology connections, I think, that's just done a video on it.
