Thank you for your video! Great step-by-step instruction! I'm having issues right now as well where my car (Gemballa BiTurbo from a 996 Turbo) suddenly died while driving. I had to coast as close to my home as possible (luckily ended up 10 houses away), and ordered a new fuel filter. However, while I was waiting for it to be delivered, I figured I would take out my fuel pump and see if my hoses were cracked. Unfortunately, they were not, so I put the fuel pump back in. That would have been an easy fix if that was the case. When I turned my starter, the engine started, and was idling roughly for about a min or two before the engine died again. So, I'll wait to get my fuel filter and cross my fingers that it's just clogged and needs to be replaced (however, that got me wondering how my engine ran for that minute if the filter was clogged, so I'm not sure if replacing it will be the solution (still need to replace the filter anyways, since it's due). If you have any thoughts, I'd love to hear them! Thanks again for your informative video, and I've subscribed!!

Hi Calbear, thanks for the comment and support. If your hoses are in great condition that's good. It could still be the pump that may have failed. Do you have a fuel pressure test kit you can use? 🤞

@@Witty924 Thank you for responding! Actually, a couple of hours after I posted my comment, I went and obtained a fuel pressure kit. I tested the pressure from the same Schrader valve you used in your 3rd video, right where the fuel filter is located. It showed zero pressure in all positions. As mentioned, my car will not start, but in every position, the pressure read zero. The needle never moved. Is that valve located between the fuel pump and fuel filter, or is it after the filter? If it is after, the it could still be a clogged filter. If not, then my pump has gone bad. In any case, I'm patiently waiting for my fuel filter to arrive, and then I'll see if it is because of that, or if I need to buy a new fuel pump. Thank you!

@@mightygoldenbear fingers crossed for you on this and finding the fault. You are testing at the correct place which is a screw nut connector on the back of the filter. It sounds like a pump failure if your pipework on the pump is solid and not split. Let me know how you get on 👍🤞

@@Witty924 Thank you, I am leaning towards a fuel pump failure as well. I'll update with comments next week once I have received the filter and tested it out. Thank you!

Hey Witty, thanks for sharing, very informative. I've just bought a 996TT and I've got hesitancy at low revs below 2000rpm, makes tootling through the town a but jerky and is totally fine on boost and higher rpm, its just had (2 years ago) new turbos and boost leak tests etc, plugs fairly new, think it had coil packs then, do you think it could be related to those hoses starting to split? Can you get replacement hoses? Just looked on design911 and they want over £500 for a pump, not tries OPC yet but should get PCGB discount, where did you get your?

Hi Beats, thanks for the comment and support 👍. Hearing all the work you have had done it definitely warrants a quick check. You can remove the pump and swirl pot unit in an hour or so. If the pipes are starting to fail you can certainly replace them. I did consider that but decided to go for a full replacement. I got my from the Porsche dealer, they can offer a discount so always ask 😉🤞. Let me know how you get on 🤞🚙💨

Great video! Couple of questions. Is this the same for 997 turbo? Also, do they sell the hoses only? If so, would you happen to know the part numbers for the entire pump and the hoses?

Hi Top trader, thanks for the comment and support, so I believe if it's the 997.1 which still keeps the mezger engine then it would retain the same set up. The 997.2 I would expect to be slightly different. So you can take the unit out and just buy high pressure rates hoses and replace them, the only caution is to use very good clamps as from factory and when removing the pipe from the pump take care as the pump attachment becomes brittle and can snap off with the hose. I hope that helps. Let me know how you get on 🤞👍

Question the two ports that have plastic caps on can you just plug them if the car doesn’t have the side pickup??
@Witty924
@Witty924 15 дней назад
@@dinomelton hi Dino, thanks for the comment and support. So if you have the same model as mine you need the picks ups as the tank is a Tshape . If you have a none t shaped tank which I believe is on 2 wheel drive 996s then you need a different pump/swirl pot. I'm not sure if you block them up if it will cause a performance issue with the pump ans swirl pot internal design. You could test it out of the car to see how well it works with plugging those ports. Let me know how you get on 🤞👍
