Can something other then "Silicone Grease" be used? Is WD40 or petroleum jelly safe to use? Thank you in advance for any response.

Mine was extremely stuck so I packed duct seal compound (it’s like a putty) around the base of the handle leaving it about an 1/8 inch bigger than the circumference and about 1/4 higher than where the base of the handle touches the bottom. I then poured a mixture of 1/2 warm water and 1/2 distilled vinegar in the little pool area I made with the duct seal. The idea is to let the base of the handle sit in that mixture to loosen up the calcium etc., for about an hour, screwed right off.

I removed my moen faucet handle by hand, I didn't see your video earlier and didn't know about the rubber strap. That's a great idea. I wanted lubricant idea for reassembly and you were on point. Informative and succinct video. Thanks. Can I use silicone lube oil or spray instead of grease?

Mine also leaks when it is turned on. Could this be dirt or is the valve bad?

This is very helpful! Got any suggestions for if the handle won’t screw off? The one we need to fix won’t budge but the hot side came off like a breeze.

What if my strap wrench doesn’t work. Mine I can’t get mine to unscrew. Any ideas?

Does it have a rubber strap? If it has a cloth strap, try wrapping the valve bonnet with rubber to give the cloth strap something to grab onto. As a last resort, you can remove the entire valve and place it in a vice.

You can try with just your bare hands and a rubber grip of some sort. You can also use a channel lock pliers with a rubber grip, but be careful not to damage the metal finish. Hope this helps.
