I don't drink coffee, but I love hot cocoa. I thought the that Keurig machine would be a quick way to prepare some but there was no way I was going to pay out $80 to $150 to purchase a new one. So I bought a "non-working" K10 at the thrift store for $9 and, after applying what I learned from this video, I now have a fully-functioning hot cocoa maker. Thanks!
You were right on target. My sisters K10 unit broke today. It would not fill up the cup with coffee. Lucky I found your informative video on the repair of this machine. I took mine apart removed top cover and 2 screws as instructed. I then removed the 2 screws that held the black plastic housing that the rubber tube was attached to. I used a paper clip as instructed and found the 3 holes at the bottom of the plastic tube were clogged with coffee grounds. Cleaned the passage with white distilled vinegar and rinsed with water. The compartment that held the water was full of corrosion. I filled it with distilled white vinegar and let it set for a few minutes then rinsed it with water. I did this several times until the particles of material loosened up and left the tank surface nice and clean. Then I ran about 10 cups of water through the machine to give it a good rinse without a coffee cartridge in place. Now my sister is one happy camper. Many thanks for the help!!!!🙂
Omg!!!!! It worked!!! The paperclip worked!!! Wish I would have known this when my 1st Keurig was clogged.. I ultimately caused it to over heat and ruined it..
Worked great, thank you so much! iFixit is a wealth of knowledge, but their K10 instructions left me scratching my head at how to remove the handle top cover. You adding a close up of the locking tabs really helped me understand what was going on and finally get the thing off, a simple clean of the needle later and now I can caffeinate again. Thanks again, you saved my mornings.
Man....!!! You're a life saver!! Follow your instructions and we're back up and running ☺️. Coffee is life while on the road full time 😁. Thank you my good sir🙋🏾♂️🙋🏼♀️
Thank you! Followed your instructions and I went from angry and cranky with no coffee to powered up and caffeinated in less than 10 minutes. I used a thin piece of wood to place the open keurig upside down for the last step. Made it easier to work with the steel non magnetic screws. I almost lost one trying to work with it upright because my thick fingers just didn’t fit.
Wish I would have discovered this video a couple years ago when my Keurig K10 Red coffee maker stopped working. I had to to throw it away because I could not fix it, but I was able to upgrade to the better Keurig Mini Plus with a 20% discount from Keurig with 24 K cups of my choice. For under $100.00 I got a better and slimmer Keurig. The strong brew feature was a game changer for me. I use that feature always when making a cup of coffee.
Thank you! This video saved me about $80 (the cost of a new Keurig). I called Keurig CSR for help. I was provided the basic troubleshooting that did not resolve the problem and received a sales pitch for a new Keurig. As the CSR talked, I was searching RU-vid for help. My searched ended with your video (thorough, easy to follow/pause, and EXTREMELY helpful)! Thanks for taking the time to make this video. Now, if you can discover a way to get the last two screws back in place :-) The struggle is real! Lol. Yes, I saved this video to my Keurig playlist. Take care & GOD BLESS!
Thanks for the excellent video. My Keurig K10 is now unclogged and brewing coffee. Toughest part of the procedure was putting the last 2 screws in place. So little space to work with.

This video was perfect in every way. Thank you, thank you, thank you for saving my little guy. He's back to new and brewing his wonderfulness. I was very sad when I wasted a couple of pods, and thought I was going to have to "retire" him. He's all clean, healthy and well to continue doing his daily task. I'm forever in your debt. 😊 ☺️ 😁
Love these How to videos. My Keurig stopped moving the water the top to the bottom when I would lift the top so I searched for a fix. Now while his did move the water I still did the steps and was able to get the tube off without popping the zip tie. You have to go slow and do some twisting and it comes right up. I had grounds in the tube and in the pin needle area cleaned it all out and made a gods cup of coffee. Thanks
Thank you thank you! Fixed my completely clogged machine and saved me $. I ran some vinegar water through it before reconnecting the hose, more grounds came out, did this a couple times until it ran clear.
Trying this right now! My unit hasn't worked in years - since before RU-vid was a place to get answers to your problems! I was about to chuck it since it's just taking up space - hopefully this will fix it!
@@ALinsdau it didn't work. The unit didn't even power on. 😢 I watched another video that suggested it was the transformer which can be replaced for about $30. For a little bit more I can get a brand new brewer (albeit not keurig brand). Thank you for your video though! I had fun trying to get it working!
I wonder how much time overall this machine saves the user, if it gets clogged and more and more coffee grounds keep washing out during maintenance?? But thanks for the explanation, because I already bought it :) I got it to make a full mug of coffee.... Once. From then on, it won't make a full mug.... I am still learning how it's supposed to work
Thank you! Except that it was only the needles at the bottom that didn't pierce a cup. That was my problem it seems. But I cleaned the little tube at least.
Omg it worked, I had to take pictures halfway through and make sure I put it back right I can always remove things but I can never put them back right one thing it doesn't close properly What do I need to adjust to make a fit better when I close it open and close.. All in all I can't believe it also I didn't have to cut the zip tie.
Thank you for this video!!! Coffee pot still struggles a bit (I need to apply some pressure to silver handle while brewing or it does not have the power to shoot through the K-cup).
Great DIY tutorial! I was about to throw 2017 KM in next weeks trash and order a 2022 Thank You Sir….BTW Because of first 2 lil awkward screws and no top notch Driver like yours, it took me a lil bit more time to complete last step 🤪. THX to you,…RU-vid gets 👍🏽…keep SKIPPING THE LIGHT (your LIFE) FANTASTIC! 💯🔥🥰 You 🤘🏽
My machine works, I cleaned both needles, when I run a water cycle I get grounds. Ran it without the basket still get grounds. Would taking it apart like this be best?
Thanks very helpful! While I definitely appreciate the full clean, seems like the paper clip and then a reusable cup, you could just run through with water only, a couple of times. Thanks again!
Wish I would have watched this before I had already tore the bottom panel off and had the bottom "jaw" off the top. Would have saved me a lot of hassle. Thank you.
Thank you for such a great video. I have exactly the same model of Keurig as yours. It wont turn on at all. Another RU-vid video suggested to hold on to the on/off button while plugging it in. Tried that, still did nothing. It's dead. I got this as a gift 5 months ago. Do you have any suggestions please on what to do to get it to start. Thanks again
Does the type of water used extend the life? I know tap is full of calcium. I’m thinking of switching to bottled distilled or spring. Any suggestion from the K10 gang?
LOOK!!!: If your "K10" doesn't have a faint electronic hum anymore (when you plug it in) but it still lights up (but does not heat or pump): I opened up the very bottom and found a loose nut holding an electronic part (were the wiring comes to a junction) I tightened that up and it worked again! It's a little tricky to pry the bottom plastic base out (as well as the the metal plate) but once you do you'll see that the single NUT (not the screws) holding the wiring may be loose (this is where the heater and pump apparently lose power). I also trimmed some metal off of each side of the plate to get it to pop back in easier. NOTE: 2 screws on the bottom of the plate hold some of the wiring as well but these are not the issue. Make sure this is unplugged as you work on it! (DUH)
@@ALinsdau Thanks! I hate when stuff stops working but I really enjoy a successful repair and then sharing the "fix" 😀 I installed car audio for a number of years so I would have to find and fix similar wiring/manufacturing failures.
I think a lot of us forget to take the coffee pod out, and then it dries, so after we are done for the morning, I run a cup without the pod to clean the needle and wipe out the underside and inside the cop holder
I'm starting to get issue with my K10. begin yesterday.machine was clogged i get that unplug it bring it to the washroom sink lift it upside down to drain the water out. but i notice the "brew" was on steady and not shut off. when i unplug/plug it the "brew" button automatically turn on permanent is there any suggestion you can gave me what to do thanks.
You have to lift slightly and push back on the lid. Make sure you got all the screws out, too. They're easy to miss and hard to get to. The first time I did it, I missed a screw. Then when I pressed backward, the lid finally popped off.
I tried this process but it didn’t work, no water was moving through the tube at all so I’m guessing the problem is at the beginning of the tube. I suppose I could use a pipe cleaner and unclog it from the top!
I followed your procedure without success. The Keurig would still not pump water/coffee although needle appeared to be very clogged. I then sucked on the hose opening and after a little bit I heard a small pop and my mouth was full of water. Apparently there is a check valve in the line that got stuck. I then ran vineger through the unit twice and then rinsed. The Krurig now runs and pumps coffle like a champ. Suggest you add this additional step if you update the video.
You might try a medical type syringe with a proper hose size adapter. That way the water and coffee grounds are sucked into the syringe instead of in your mouth. Not sure if this would work but I would think it is worth a try.
See if you can chase the hose down to the pump. Usually blockage like this is caused by the pump caked up with lime & calcium. Try white vinegar first.
What about for when the water won’t brew out of it?? I’m having trouble with that 😭 like I’ll put the water in and everything, it makes the noise it’s supposed to, but when it’s done, no water comes out 😭
1.paper clip in white pin 2.putwater in cup press K circle 3.take hot water with vinager in cup press K circle Cleans out debri where water hoes through
I literally did everything step by step and when I put water to test it before putting everything back together the water did come out the hose. So figured it would work. Put everything back together and it’s still not working. Can someone tell me what I’m doing wrong 😭😭
