That’s what happened with the one I got. I contacted Hoover and they sent a brand new unit. Had to demonstrate that I made the first unable to be operated by taking pictures of cutting the cord. Less than a year later now the trigger gets stuck in the open position spraying solution everywhere. Tried applying grease but that didn’t help
