I am an old retired widow on a fixed income. After being given estimates from plumbers of $300 and $200 I decided to search RU-vid for a better solution. I just want to say "Thank you so much" to the fellow on this video. I never imagined it could be something so simple as replacing seatings and springs because the others told me various things like "I'd hate to break into your tile...I'll have to access the panel in the bedroom and saw through those 2x4s that are in the way" or "you need to go buy a new faucet w/handle". All I spent was $7.00 total! You, sir, are a godsend.
As a home owner that does a lot of my own repairs, this is one the best how too videos I have seen. You do not assume or skip steps like a lot of terrible and lazy instructors in this world and as far as detail, he stresses how to put the rings back in, make sure the springs are properly inserted etc. And finally, beautiful camera angles. Tutoring and teaching is an art, and requires hard work and attention to detail. A lot of people do not know how to communicate because of apathy and laziness, this video is not that, but instead a gift: thank you so much and I will subscribe
I agree, just the detailed explanation of how to insert the springs and the idea of using the screwdriver to guide the assembly into place would have saved me much time and agony when I first tried to change this type of washer.
Wow bro! I do DIYs of everything but plumbing! I just worry that things would leak. I had put this leaky faucet off for a bit. My plumber friend said it could be costly and we had some renovations in mind so I let it linger. Then I felt I should give it a shot..boom! Your video. You made it look easy. I gambked the parts from Canadian Tire for about 9 bucks. I loosened it realized not same as yours but I figured it out...it turned out to be the easiest DIY I have done. I thank God for you! Just had to drop this note... Thank you, all glory to God!
Thank you from a single mom. My Dad was a plumber and fixed everything for me until his passing last year. My shower has been leaking for months and getting worse but now I am confident I can fix this by myself with his tools ♥
Thank you.... Just fixed my grandmother's was dripping....TIMES ARE TIGHT RIGHT NOW AND NOT MANY DOORS ARE OPEN BECAUSE OF THE PANDEMIC, THANK YOU FOR SHARING YOUR KNOWLEDGE..... GOD BLESS THE WORKING PEOPLE AND DO IT YOURSELF ERS.....LOL....💪🇺🇲
I found this so helpful!! My husband is no longer able to do anything and can no longer see and he had said i would have to go yhru so much i thought of calling a plumber but my daughter said you can find how to fix ANYTHING on u tube and she was right. I chose your video because faucet is exactly like mine. Even at 68 and fighting liver cancer i can still learn a new trick. Thank you for making it look so do able.😁
Great video for an easy 15 minute fix. Ordered the parts on Amazon for $4 for 2 seats and 2 springs and the tub no longer leaks. We had a peerless faucet 88700 series which was slightly different from the video. I googled peerless 88700 series diagram and found out that our faucet was slightly different from the one in the video. The seats and springs were not in the wall. They were in the actual faucet housing which came apart with a quick 90 degree turn. Replaced both seats and springs in the housing and put it all back together. No more leaking! Helpful hint: Take a picture and line up the parts on the floor as you go so you remember how it all goes back together. Thank you for this video!
Thank you so much for posting this. I’ve had 2 plumbers come to my house to evaluate the leak. One wanted to charge me $350.00 and the other one wanted $444.00. Thanks to you I went to Home Depot and got the washers and springs for my tub and it cost me all of $4.00. God bless you and thank you!!!!!!!!
@@DoItYourselfEasy I CANNOT GET THE HANDLE OFF, THERE IS NO SPOT FOR AN ALAN WRENCH TO FIT IN TO GET THE HANDLE OFF, DO YOU HAVE SUGGESTIONS ON HOW TO GET IT OFF???
@@theanswerisinthebackofyourhead I have the same exact faucet you have.. no allen. I figured out how to get it off. But.. youre an Obama hater so fuck off. Figure it out yourself hahaha!
Thank you for showing in detail each step. As a single parent, I depend on no one and fix nearly everything myself...with the help of fine people such as yourself 🙂
I did not have clue how to stop the dripping in my bathtub. After watching your video, you made it look so easy. To my amazement, IT WAS! Thanks for a great video
Ok. Omg . Thank you so much. I searched my house and i happened to have some little gaskets/seals laying around and ta-da. I fixed it before my husbNd got home and we were both so proud of me😁🤗
This video was absolutely amazing. Einstein used to say that if you can explain something in simple terms then you are a an expert. Your video made it look and feel so simple and you were so patient
Thanks this helped me identify it’s the hot water o ring leaking so while I can’t fix it this exact moment I can at least lessen the leaking. Thanks mate.
Thanks for sharing this tutorial. It got me out of a jam and possible exorbitant plumber fees, since I live in the countryside, with very few handymen around. Short and to the point, hardly any talking except what is necessary.
🤣🤣🤣🤣. Hannah; this guy makes this look so easy!!! I been working on trying to get the screw out off the handle... Gurl, I'm so Frustrated..., know I can do this. My fingers hurt from doing this Manly Shit!!! 😅😅😅
Your channel is the best!! Our faucet started leaking thursday night,,,,,NO ONE was willing to come out for less than a $250.00 Holiday & Weekend minimum. Watched your tutorial, spent $5.96 at Home Depot and WOOO HOOO
Thank you so much for this video. The process was explained very well. I was able to repair my tub leak and this saved me no less than $150.00 for a plumber to come out. The parts cost around $8.50 and the job was completed in 10-15 minutes!!
Thanks for making this video. I found it following a link from a video about fixing a leak in a bathtub with 2 knobs. Following these easy, straight forward instructions, I was able to fix the leak myself instead of having to pay for a plumber. IDK how much I saved, but I do know I only had to spend $3 plus tax for the parts and took only a few minutes.
Thank You, Thank You. From your video I was able to learn that I only needed to replace my damaged washer, not the entire assembly. Cost me just a little more than $2 to repair and stop the leak :-)
Thank you for this video. My bathtub has been leaking for years, and I had no clue which part went wrong with it until now. Will get the parts from Home Depot and give it a try. 👍👍👍
Thanks for the outstanding close ups......a tremendous benefit. Personally, I'd soak the cartridge and ring in white vinegar to clean the calcium deposits off before reassembling. Good to go!
I don’t know anything about plumbing but I was able to fix my leaking shower head with the help of this video. Thanks for posting and saving time and a lot of money!
Very clear instructions on to do it. I like that you showed close ups and explained how everything was taken off and how to replace it...using the screw driver to replace the rubber thibg and spring was a great idea. Thank You!!
The repair serviceman at my apartment just burst open the tap without shutting water off with my entire building leaking water upto the garage and leaving the shower head dripping. I'm so glad to come to this video and see the right instructions. It's been a mess to deal with the situation.
Thank you very much for this video. I do all repairs in my house that I can and this video really helped. While my setup was just slightly different, as one would expect in different homes built in different years, it was similar enough that it guided me through the process without issue. I love learning new things and not depending on repair people, videos like this make that possible.
I watched another channel and they made they whole thing look very confusing, turned it into a 10 hour back panel job. Hopefully mine will be more like this. After watching your video I think I maybe able to do this!! Just subscribed, thank you!
Katia L Foust A plumber just told a tenant the same thing. His said the universal kit wouldn't fit. I looked at Delta's site, and the kit is available. Thank God I know better.
Great you made it look so easy I have a leak in my Tub Faucet I will be saving a lot of money vs the plumber that over charge for something simple as replacing the wash I will be going by your instructions and hey Thank you for sharing your knowledge
Thank you I was able to follow you step by step. And presented each part removed.. the best instructional video ever. I got it in 1 view. Others I watch at least 3 times.
Thank you for the VERY helpful video. Best one I've seen so far. You described each step slowly, clearly and great video to go along with it. I feel confident I will be doing it myself. Much appreciated!
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. I couldn't find any videos that had the same cartridge that you're dealing with. This little gem saved my azz a huge headache (doing s side job this weekend). Guaranteed to make it home for the BIG GAME tonight with plenty of time to spare. 👊 Much thanks for posting this life saver.
Ive done Drains, Dishwashers, Washing machines, sinks, toilets, hot water tanks... But never one of these guys (always dealt with the Hot & Cold Faucets). So it was quite Intimidating... But... Just did ANOTHER one! :D Part was 20 years old (Delta 1400 series RP19804 this time). Took off the 'Vanity Plate' to keep mind of how hard I was sawing the handle off (face it, the likelihood of it actually Unscrewing is next to zero) by looking at the piping movements (Things can bend, break, etc) if I wasnt holding the pipe assembly steady. (New Handle, I know... 15 bucks more to spend :/ ) The Bonnet Nut was next, not a major challenge (luckily for me), just patience. Then out comes the Cartridge, right? HA! f***ing just separates into a good 3 dozen pieces. It was hell digging it out (the most time consuming part of the repair). But once it was out, cleaned, the replacement Cartridge lubed... Damn! Night & Day difference! Like brand new! All thanks to YOUR wise words guys. I appreciate the help & Confidence you gave me on the project. :) Wife is happy too. LOL
