What are best methods for removing exhaust donut gasket between catalytic converter pipe & resonator pipe? I have one that's completely bonded to the cat' pipe flange & has partially come off except for the inner-most perimeter edge - there's metal grating connecting the partially intact part that's removed from the edge of the cat' pipe & the stuck inner-most part of the donut gasket
This is Vin Diesel here and I've got to say, I never thought I'd be driving a Nissan Versa Note. But the way it sounds now thanks to Fondupot's Garage has made me a believer!
As a lady, shops tend to give me a hard time, even though I know what I'm talking about, so I like to fix my car myself. Buying a Nissan was absolutely a mistake, but I'm working with what I have. Thanks for this video and all the part numbers! Also, your car ramp is ingenious. I subscribed right after this video, because you're doing great work helping us non-mechanics do the work we can. Much love from the Midwest US 💖
This is exactly what I needed! My exhaust broke off at the exact area. Thank you so much for the part list and thorough explanation through the installation
Thank you! Every Nissan I owned did this around the 80k - 90k mark. Even my old 1994 Sentra! My wife '18 Versa Sedan is going out now. I do all my own work so shouldn't be too hard. Thanks for the video!!
EXACTLY the location my (under 60k miles) 2014’s exhaust system came apart. Thanks so much for the peace of mind - and saved $$$! - that this is fairly common thing and not something I effed up. We’re in the NE/coastal too, so I’m surprised this didn’t happen sooner.
I have Nissan Versa Note 2016 on 106k milage and now I ran into the muffler trouble. Thank you for the video. Now I need more parts before process with repairs!
Thank you for this! OMG, this JUST happened to me, same 2016 Note, almost the same mileage! Funny that almost the only thing rusty under this car is the ENTIRE exhaust system! Parts will be order for me soon.
The flange joints are a poorly engineered failure point, as documented by the numerous complaints posted on-line about this problem occurring over many years of the model line. The weld on the flange at the front of the pipe from my muffler (2009 Versa 1.6) failed. I replaced the muffler (which included that pipe and flange). Two years later, the flange at the rear end of the "front pipe" (from the resonator) failed. At that point, I simply cut off both flanges, inserted a connector that slipped over the ends of the pipes, and sealed using clamps.
What connector? Sorry I'm totally new to this and have had the EXACT problems as you. If I can just repair the break instead of replacing it, I'd rather do that. Also, sounds like a great "repair kit" for on the road. Thanks!!!
I have a bigger torch that I normally use in this situation, but I couldn't find the nozzle for my propane tanks! I had to settle for my girlfriends culinary butane torch. It worked in the pinch tho! Thanks for watching.
@@fondupot Not sure if you're soliciting video ideas but it seems that you know how to properly jack a car. Finding good jack points and separate spots for the stands is an actual struggle.
@@petrol.318 That's a great idea for a video! I have a list of future videos that I continually add to. I appreciate the idea! And thanks again for watching!
I just had my exhaust solder back together with new flanges, it a nissan note 2017 with 82 000km... it cost me about 345 Canadien dollar. I live in Quebec Canada with a lot a snow in the winter
I’m gonna attempt this… never done this before…these part fit a 2010 Nissan Versa hatchback?? It’s so rusty it’s ridiculous, it’s been rusty since first 5 years of owning this car, Nissan exhausts are trash! Any special tips to give me, no car training what’s so ever.

@@SdW.8I removed that particular exhaust gasket mostly by using pick tools & needle nose pliers to pull out pieces after I picked at them to loosen them. I do not remember using any heat. Just be patient while picking & scraping loose the gasket pieces embedded in the grooves of the flanges. Sometimes you'll get bigger chucks because of the metal grating built into the gasket. Left me know if you have any questions because I've worked on many of these now.
@@RyanEhli-MusicAndGuitar Ooo this is good to know. Thanks so much for responding. I'm hoping the catalytic converter will hold strong, bc I think that's out of my strength abilities and skill. I'll let you know if I run into anything weird. Fingers crossed I can make this happen!
I have a 2010 Versa sedan. The catalytic converter is shot and the muffler is held up with a wire coat hanger. I live in TN and the whole exhaust system is rusted.
@@fondupot You're welcome had another person in comments on the exhaust sports auto video of the 2021 versa review mention to me his 2009 with 92k and his whole exhaust system needs to be replaced. My reply to him was yes.
My exhaust on my 2015 Versa Note just did this. Having a hell of a time getting the spring bolts off. I noticed you didn’t put a nut on the spring bolts when you replaced them. Can you enlighten me as to why a nut isn’t needed at the back of the Cat?
Is there a spray on anti-rust product I can use to coat my new parts to prevent this quick corrosion? My new muffler is completely rusted after just ONE winter here in the Midwest.
The problem is whatever you put on the exhaust will just burn off. It has to do with the material that is used, it’s just super cheap. The most expensive option would be to have a legit exhaust shop put a custom exhaust on the car using high quality stainless steel. But that won’t be cheap….
Hi, I have a similar problem and I was wondering if I buy the muffler, will it come with the gasket, bolts, etc? Or do I order that separately? Thank you!
Hui there and thanks for your video.I am having a problem with my 2015 Nissan versa, and I think it might be the muffler as my car sounds like a motorcycle now.My car is also consuming more fuel than before, could it also be my catalytic converter or just muffler,or maybe both? that is causing the sudden spike in fuel consumption.
