@@nmckinlay 5-7 days for UPS, 10-15 for economy. They are ERP brand which almost is always from the OEM factory or better, when possible. The original Samsung heating elements are from China, these are North American. The rollers from Samsung usually are Chinese, and these are Taiwanese... My experience is they are either at OEM quality or above it, even. I have yet to have a single problem with using them in our store, or selling them to customers.
You rock :) - order wheels and idler pully off your site. LIke everyone else, If I'm gonna tear it down and clean it I may as well replace the wear parts. You might want to add the belt to your kit as well. Amazon is always cheaper but you video is worth the price difference this time. Thanks. Cheaper than calling for a tech.
At first I was overwhelmed and almost bought a brand new washer and dryer. It'll be 2 weeks before they can deliver so I threw caution to the wind and started following your instructions. Voila! I found the problem, did a temporary fix till my parts come in. Thanks for that link, btw! My husband passed away a few months ago so you are just what I needed.
@@davekachavos1342 I'm pretty sure Joshua's comment's point was "humor." Humor is something that many people enjoy. I don't think he was trying to disparage the Ben's video. If anything I saw it as a compliment to Ben's thoroughness in his video. Lighten up and look for good in the world! Great vid Ben!
Great video and awesome explanations. I successfully replaced the tensioner, belt, and bearings. Turned out one of the bearings was damaged. Thanks for taking the time to make this tutorial!
Thanks for the video! I had a technician show up for $90 and take apart my Samsung dryer. He then asked for another $230 for the parts and $200 for labour! I told him to get lost. I bought the bearing/pulley kit for $50 on Amazon and did it myself in about 60 minutes thanks to you!
Thank you so so much for making this video! We moved into a new house and the dryer was making a horrendous noise. After a bit of googling we came across this video and successfully changed out a roller!!!! We have no experience in mechanics and are very proud of ourselves lol. Thank you so much!
This is my third time taking apart the same samsung dryer for some kind of replacement part. First time the heating element coil broke, then the rear bearings and the belt pulley, now the front bearings. At this point I have a fully refurbished dryer so thats nice. All this to say, thank you for this video. I reference it every time!
After watching this video I feel like I can open my own Samsung Dryer repair shop. The dryer in my rental is making a noise so I'm praying this video will help. Thanks man.
Thanks for the video. I did this last night. My issue was the pulley, which like you we're saying was a common cause. I decided to change all the bearings as well. I couldn't have done it without the great shots of everything you did. Cheers!!
My back rollers are shredded so I’m going to replace those. I took apart my dryer with your step by step video and appreciate how thorough you were! I sliced my arm on something and forgot to plug back in the door clip so it threw a code for that but was able to easily go back through the steps and find it. I might just start fixing dryers as a side hustle lol
Thank you, thank you, thank you. My dryer starting clunking. I called the local repair guys who said that it would be 3 days until they could come. I’m cool with that. My neighbor also has a stacked set, and told me it added $150 and a week ( needs 2 guys to be free to get drum out) to get a diagnosis. Thanks to your video I attacked it myself. Total time to replace pulley and clean out dryer was 1.5 hours. Saved me $500. I owe you a beer!!
Wow that is so BS! Mine is stacked as well but I was able to take everything apart without lowering the dryer. I almost hired someone but ended spending about $35 and some time which probably saved me a couple hundred. Crazy!
This is a really wonderful video. Metal on metal was destroying my sanity. No rare earth magnets for the kids anymore. Appreciate your knowledge and insights!
Thank you for this great video! It was well explained and I was able to find my roller in the back completely disintegrated. I ordered a complete replacement kit including idler and belt. Figured I was in there anyway. Again, thank you. I also have done a few appliance videos to help others.
You forgot to mention something! If the drum rollers fail within a year of being replaced, it's likely the felt seal on the drum is too worn and needs to be replaced. Dirt is able to get past it and ruin the rollers. The hardest part was finding a felt seal that would work. I used a felt seal meant for an LG dryer in my samsung dryer and it worked just fine. The process of removing, cleaning and installing the new seal was pretty straightforward and it's lasted close to 4 years so far without needing further repairs. I'm not an appliance repairman myself, but I still have a Samsung front load dryer like this one from 2008. When the motor finally gives out, it'll be time for a speed queen.
Thoughtfully fast but thorough descriptions and video help - which I know takes planning and extra shooting & editing effort so thank you. Hopefully other content providers adopt your style.
100%. Thorough as to not leave out anything, but unlike 95% of the videos out there, he doesn’t take 30 minutes explaining unnecessary crap before he gets to the “meat and potatoes”. Great job
Thanks for the video. I just fixed our 7yr old Samsung dryer. In my case the squeaking was coming from the front lower wheel but I replaced all of them along with the pulley and belt. Nice to see all the components of a dryer for future reference. Should be easy to fix. FYI. I didn’t have to remove the back panel to replace the wheels. I was able to squeeze an open end wrench back there.
Worked like a charm for me. The back right roller wheel was frozen on mine. It seems to be the most load bearing of the four roller wheels. Thanks very much for posting this video!
Awesome video, thank you! One of the bearings to a roller wheel had blown out on my dryer. I did a full kit replacement since I had already disassembled the dryer. I was also able to give it a good cleaning. Good as new for only the cost of a kit and one hour of time!
My friend you saved me a boat load of money. Was able to determine one of the back roller wheels was broken after watching your video. Fully thought I was going to have to buy a new dryer. Also made about $2 in change with all the money found in the bottom of the machine :D
Thank you so much for this!!! Ordered the idler off Amazon for $20 and replaced it within 30 minutes! Easy peasy! Also while I was in there, I hit all the bearings with some lithium grease and vacuumed out the dog hair and dust. Highly recommend these videos! Thank you again!
This video was very helpful even with the quick reassemble. The only thing that would make it complete is slowing it down when the belt was put back on so you could get a better view of how it's setup. All in all I would highly recommend watching it if you need to fix anything related to your belt assembly.
Thanks, Man! I did it with your help! My model was a bit different but more or less the same. As i removed the screws i placed them in a plastic sandwhich bag with a sticky note where they came from. Also, be careful not to bend any of the sheet metal if possible, since affect lining up the screw holes when you put it back together. Thanks Again Man!!!
I’ve watched multiple videos and this one is the only one that shows exactly how to make the repair. Plus I ordered all the parts for under $60 from Ben’ Appliances. Samsung sells each part for $60 each. I saved so much money!
Worked like a charm!! My tension wheel had seized and belt grinded right throught it. Also had a bad roller. Replaced everything. Quiet as every. Thank you
Awesome video tutorial! Just what I needed to fix my dryer. It was the rollers on mine that went bad. Also thanks for the link. You saved me $170 from purchasing from other online parts houses.
Hey Ben, I’m curious if you recommend lubricating the rollers (or anything else) with WD-40, white lithium grease, or any other lubricant OR if you actually do NOT recommend doing so? (Bonus question: I have a matching Samsung washer with no cleanable filter trap. We have many dogs, and I swear our washer redistributes hair (and what seems like fibers) into future loads. Might you have a video addressing best way to try to remedy this?) Thanks for an informative, clear, and excellently summarized video!
Thanks for all your efforts. I bought a new tensioner the old one failed and seems to be a week point. Not a bad job but took me a couple of hours and needed an extra set of hands for ten minutes to reinstall the drum and yes there is lint everywhere have a vacuum handy. Again thanks for your video it really helped.
Just wanted to say thank you for this tear down video. Much appreciated. Cost me $35 for a “upgrade kit” off Amazon and some time which saved me hundreds in the end. Thanks a bunch!
Loved this video very helpful to get it taken apart and put together again, but dryer is having issues spinning the drum now? Any adea what could have gone wrong? I took it apart twice to see what could have gone wrong but I just can't tell!
I have an Amana gas dryer that makes noise when the burner comes on. I’m confident enough now to take it apart and look for a problem. Thanks for the vid.
Nice! An Amana Dryer is going to be almost the same exact thing in terms of what to look for. Disassembly is different, but I think I have a video or two of Amana dryers coming apart. All the parts you need to look for are on the FRONT of the dryer like this rather than rear.
Well done video. Have a squeal in my 9 year old Whirlpool that I suspect is the idler, but now I may order rollers as well. Not identical arrangement, but close enough to figure out. ** Thanks for stressing the importance of cleaning, that's exactly how to prevent fires aside from clean lint traps. Pull the cover and vacuum every 2-3 years ideally.
As soon as my new repair room is done I'll be shooting the same ideas for Whirlpool/Maytag dryers. Got a NASTY Kenmore (really WP Built) that had the rear bulkhead that holds the drum shred itself in half... Horrible thing... All caused by a $10 roller wheel. Quite literally, every dryer I've seen has a nearly-similar arrangement. 2-4 roller wheels. Idler pulley which anymore wear down fast. Some like GE/Frigidaire have drum bearings and wear pads that can go bad, but its almost the same identification system: If you have a noise, the drum will shred soon.
Ah yes, I should have shown only one possible way to fix the noise issue rather than show them all. I think of the ~50,000 comments I've gotten on repairs, yours is literally the only one that is unhappy the video tried to show any potential fix, instead of just one since there's literally no way of knowing which of the rollers, ect are the problem.
@r3d33m3dn78 if it's squeaking, I show all the parts that could squeak and how to replace them. Do you know how many comments I'd get if I just showed how to replace the pulley to solve the issue?
We watched your video and decided we would try to fix our dryer, after hearing all the costs from the repair store. We bought the kit on Amazon and proceeded by watching your video step by step. We changed the parts and reassembled the dryer! Turned it on, and it sounded beautiful! All the horrible noises are gone!! Thank you for making that video.
Thank you very much for this video. I was able to get all the way through taking the dryer apart, cleaning it, replacing the parts, and putting it back together. This was so very helpful.
My dry was getting worse and worse on making noise and squeaks. Took it a park just like this video said. Everything looked good. But just put some wd40 then white lightening. Back together and bam. Perfect thank you sir
So we did this and replaced the heating element at the same time with your kit. Is there something we missed that would make the dryer stop heating after these replacements?
Is the bearing on the tensioner pulley suppose to feel more tight or just as loose as the other rollers?? I have a noise I’m looking for can’t seem to find it, but it wasn’t a repetitive noise or squeak that something a belt or roller would do.
Very well done video. Gave me the confidence to take ours apart. It would have been nice to hear some of the strange noises linked with a particular failure before you tore it down. You mentioned a reassembly video, but I couldn't find it. I will watch this one in reverse. :)
Hi Ben, this is a great video. Very easy to follow and the camera picture is very clear. I have a question for you. I have a gas 2015 samsung smart dryer. Do you know how to change the back two rollers without having to take the back panel out and removing the gas heating element? I have seen and heard I can just take off the white triangle and replace the wheels that way without removing the back panel. Is that true?
Yes, but you'll need a wrench to place behind the rollers to hold the rear nut in place while removing the shaft with another wrench. I thought about including that technique in the video, but didn't due to difficulty of filming properly. If you watch the video where the bulkhead is removed, you can see where the nuts are, and you can remove them w/o taking the element/bulkhead off. Thanks for the great question.
We have a squealing Speedqueen dryer at work. Sounds like a bad belt or bad bearing if they have those. I don't see any videos on Speedqueen are they fairly easy to work on? Are they worth the money for home use? (I am building a house myself and debating appliances. The ones at the firestation where I work seem to hold up to heavy use well, minus the recent squealing dryer.)
Great video. My Samsung dryer makes a rattling noise, but only on one setting. Tried other settings with similar heat/time and no rattling noise. Any ideas?
Do you have any tips when putting the dryer back together? I felt like it was difficult to keep the dryer up on the wheels while trying to get the front bulkhead reattached.
We are replacing the idler pulley and the new one (from the parts we ordered) seems flimsy, cheap and does not spin as freely as the old one that is still in great shape and seems to be of much better quality. Which one do you recommend we install? Thank you!
@@bensappliancesandjunk … we ordered it from another supplier. We completed the repair and replaced all four rubber drum rollers, Idler pulley and drum belt. Success! It works great!Thank you for responding and for your great repair video!
@@youtubecommentor4480 ah, got it. Likely you got the cheaper kit that usually has lower grade rollers and pulleys. Theres a few brands out there that are a bit cheaper but way lower quality. Hopefully they work out for you though!
Hi ! Just find your channel . Thanks for helping us . I would like to know based in your experience wish brand of washer is better ( whirlpool, lg or Samsung ) thanks !
Hello. Have a question. We just moved yo a different state and my dryer was working quiet. After deliveey its very noisy. Could of it been bended or crooked during transport to start making noise?
Hi Ben. These are very good instruction videos. I have been watching Brandon's videos for just over a year and decided to check yours out as well. I'm glad I did as now I i feel i can sell second hand white good in my area as a side Hussle. I live in New South Wales, Australia and i am hoping most stuff shown in these videos i can replicate here to make a bit extra on the side. Anyway buddy keep up the good work. I'm sure we are all looking forward to more videos.
Machines in NSW are identical to American machines for most brands. You guys got LG and Samsung. I think the only main brand you have is Sampson that we don't have here, and probably way more Fisher & Paykel machines (they are in the US, but barely). There's a huge market for used machines in Australia, and I know a few guys that do the hustle there. ITs good money, and stuff like LG/Samsung are easy to work on.
The. Video was easy to follow but I wish u mentioned what section would make each kind of noise so we could order the parts before taking the machine Part
That's not going to happen. You have to physically take it apart to determine which part has failed. If you want to order parts ahead of time, just order the whole roller and pulley kit. Chances are, its all going to end up failing, and putting all brand new parts on will prevent you from needing to take it apart all over again in a few months or year.
