This short video shows how to change seized bearings on a roof top whirlybird. The bearings were purchased from ebay, 8 of them for $9.00 including postage.
A very common bearing used in Whirlybirds is the 608ZZ (roller skate bearings) they are always the shielded type that collects dirt as they are not in fact sealed. Get sealed (rubber shield) bearings if you can, they are only a little more expensive. changing them is literally a 5-minute job.
Awesome video! I just bought a house and noticed my whirlybird isn't spinning like it should. Thanks to you, I know what I need to do to fix it properly. Thanks for posting!
Hi Vicente. The size of the bearings for my whirly bird were, 8 mm id x 22 mm od x 7mm Deep Groove Bearings. Part number 608 2RS.Here is the link to the ebay add. It is from Australia. www.ebay.com.au/itm/151984181234 Thanks for watching.
Hi Richard. I can't remember off the top of my head but yours may be different so best take one of yours out and measure the outside diameter, inside diameter and width of the bearing. Hope that helps and thanks for watching. 🙂👍
