Your videos have really played a huge part in my recovery, I had my stroke March 8,2020. And I have recovered tremendously, the only problem I have now is the nerve pain in my left foot which I just deal with and walking with a stiff left leg. Other than that I'm doing great. I'll have to buy me a skateboard. Thank you for your videos.
Thank You So much for these videos. I suffered a stroke and your videos have iven me back the motivation needed to continue to improve despite some have mentioned I’ve plateaued. So myself and Wife began watching your videos You’reHeavenly sent Ms Tobias
Thank you so much for this. I had a stroke in September of '21. The therapists got me walking again, but I hobble due to stiffness in the impacted leg. Am trying to get that finesse back.
this is me right now..lost the use of my left leg.out of hospital 3 days now..before I had two TIA but this time full on stroke. the neurologist said I have fibromuscular dysplasia and I'm so so lucky this time it was just my leg and foot,. was collapsed for 15 mins on my own.. I livs three flights of stairs up.. I went down and up them yesterday and I'm absolutely shattered.. had physio bur left on my own now to practice in my house.
I’ve seen a lot of exercises for fixing a stiff leg but do you have any suggestions on stuff to do to help my ankle? I wear an afo because my ankle rolls a lot. Any suggestions on how to keep my ankle from rolling?
I get spasms in my leg first in the morning, after it’s okay my leg feels weak when walking. My stroke was in 1/9/2020. I feel things have not getting better and remain the same. I feel it as good as it gets right now.
My many Thanks to you & your Bright ideas. Please help me Tara; I can do the Bridge exercises easily, but I can't do the other one where knee flexion is isolated of the hip extended?
stick with the exercise at 2:21 laying down until you can bend your knee in this position. if the knee is staying extended in this position add a small ankle weight. This will use gravity to make it easier to bend the knee. I hope this helps! stick with it!! :)
Thank you so much for sharing the exercise. In my case my left leg is very weak ( after a relapse) . Second i am not able to flex my limbs. Please suggest how to go about the same
Hi Dr. Tara Tobias. Thank you for sharing these helpful videos. My mum 85 year-old suffered a stroke, 3 months a go. She recovered rapidly her right arm usage, but she is still having problems with her right leg: heaviness, spasms, rolling ankle, ... among her medication since the stroke, she is taking TAHOR / ATORVASTATIN10mg. Besides her right leg, she is suffering : dizziness, insomnia, high back pain , muscle spasms/cramps, pain, stiffness, swelling, or weakness. For sure this is not helping her during her rehabilitation. Do you have patients with the same issues? Should she replace this medication or stop it. Thank you for your advise
thanks for your stroke vids, they been very helpful in my recovery. with the warmer weather, socks off, i realized my little toes almost had no movement but big toe has good but not great movement up and down. because of this i thought i was able to move all my toes when i had my socks on. but thats not the case as i visually can see that my smaller toes do not move contrary to what my brain is telling me
Hi Shawna, thank you for watching and for such an excellent question!! I am happy to help. This is a very common problem. Here are 2 videos that I suggest: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-yKEv2YKl338.html; ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-M5EwJHukiqg.html
Hello when you’re lying down and bending your leg and trying to grab it it’s very hard to grab your leg, because your arm can’t grab it, I have to do a lot of stretching with my leg and my arm it does take time
My issue is stiff leg due to co-contraction you have referred to it as scaffolding of the knee joint. If I hamstring curl my thigh resists the movement an outside helper cannot bend my leg for me. The same is true if I do a leg lift, flexing at the hip, my hamstring resists lifting my knee. I have taut muscle bands the no amount of stretching returns to supple condition although it helps but doesn’t last long. I have spasticity. I have not seen you deal with co-contraction mine is constant throughout the gait cycle, giving me a tin man appearance., getting worse with each cycle Could you talk directly to retraining the brain to relax appropriately?
Hi names nate I'm 37 years young I recently died from covid pneumonia I was taken in by ambulance and I felt really good going into the hospital but 30 minutes later I panicked and then callapsed my heart stopped for 4 minutes I woke up 8 days later I was slurring my words my mom said and I wasnt able to spell right. Then I noticed my right leg felt like it was asleep all the time then they start feeling it but I had no feeling at all on my right foot I have foot drop and my left calf muscle is always really tight and hurts to stretch out and I noticed I have no balance I wasnt told I had a stroke by the doctor they said i was fine but i think i had a minor stroke while i was in the coma. Still waiting from a call from a specialist for my feet I had a ct scan appointment but had to cancel it there gonna find out if I had a stroke or not.
Please my knee doesn't bend ,what I should do ,even though my therapist damaged my hip, he just like trap the nurve cord between my hip from inside to the body
@@lindabakmaz81 That is great! celebrate the progress he is making!! It is the little wins along the way that will keep you both motivated to keep working hard 😊
No, the duck tape is not part of the exercise. Do not use duct tape for this exercise. You can disregard that "tip" as it is not related to completing the exercises. :)

Hi, mam my name is nycil My left leg have some problem due to stroke, 40% week in left side, walking possible but, not perfectly... no movement in my leg fingers, can u give an advice how to get movements in fingers and increasing walking speed.... pls. If u can
3 months post stroke, I can walk, but when I do, my affected leg is in a "marching position." I don't know how else to describe it. How can I work on correcting this?
Orlando Neuro Therapy when I walk , it won’t bend or flex. It stays straight, which causes my knee to snap backward. I think it’s called hyperextending
Like your exercises. My problem with knee is only bends a little. If I am doing a standing march the knee bends a little but goes more forward. Would these exercises help. Really intrigued by skateboard.
With regards to the standing skateboard exercise, Dr Tobias, is it not that case that it is most useful for shorter people. When working with a tall(er) person, as soon as the hip extends so too does the knee. There is minimal to no knee flexion with hip extension.
When I start running my knee thigh and ankle get stiff when I take rest for long time it becomes good and when I start running again it get stiff again my legs are not open permanently what can I do i have very problem in stiff legs and my father mother are also upset from my stiff legs when these stiffness will go I creates too much problem 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Thanks for sharing!! Here is my question. Is it your knee or your foot or both (that go inward)? Are you saying you can bend the knee and pull the skateboard back however, your leg rotates inward?
Thanks for sharing!! Yes, that is a very common problem. Here is a video that might help: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-yKEv2YKl338.html, focus on "re-learning" how to push the leg down and pull back at the same time. I hope this helps!
