Thank you. I am a repairman at a local hardware store and guys bring in these heaters in from time to time. A few I have been at a loss to repair. Your video has really taught me how to fix problems that I didn't know how to fix. Hopefully, guys working in cold buildings can now have some heat to help them out. Thank you again.
Impressive...you are obviously quite knowledgeable and detailed about how each part works. It took me some time to find a video where you actually know what youre talking about instead of guessing and telling others how to fix their heaters...you diagnosed it, repaired, and shared! Great job! Thanks for sharing your knowledge!!!
I have 2 to fix up & your video made my day! awesome description of steps to follow, I ordered & received parts for my 165,000 reddy heater & just acquired a protemp 125,000 to fix up as well. I have searched & watched many vids but to be honest you nailed every aspect of my concerns to tackle this heads on !! Thanks
Amigo buenas noches soy de Ecuador estoy en proceso de reparación de un calentador de este tipo pero en mi país no hay repuestos para estos equipos tu ayuda donde conseguirlos para que me envíen a ecuador
Absolutely fantastic video!! I have a number of torpedo heaters that I have gotten and never wanted to get rid of in case I could fix them or needed parts. I have saved this video and feel confident with just about any problems I may encounter! I found this video after torpedo heaters (witch I'm currently using) igniter worked but fan wouldn't start today. Most other videos are talking about something different. THANK YOU!!!!!!! I will be able to reference this video in the future as needed. I am so pleased !!!
repairing one of these similar models last night. I did not realize about the feeler gauge adjustment. Makes sense. The machine ran for quite a while then quite. Looks like it had gotten hot in the past. I think that as it got warm the pump started binding. I'll go adjust and try again. Glad I found the video.
I just watched this entire video from start to finish and without a doubt you have the most in depth video on RU-vid for these heaters. If I could edit this video down to 7-8 minutes it would easily see 800,000 to 1,000,000 views per year. I made a similar video that does not go into 10% of the detail you show! You have a new sub! I’ll be checking out some of your other videos over the next few days. 🦅🇺🇸
Excellent video, thank you. I came here because mine stinks, so not sure if someone put diesel in there or if I need to service something but will use the knowledge gained here to get it sorted out. Thank you!
Thanks for the video that is help me I have a Dayton 400,000 BTU turbo heater and when I first got it used it fired right up and then it cut off so I’m gonna work on replacing the things you replaced and check those things that you did and hopefully get this bad boy back up and running. Thanks so much
Brand new subscriber here. Soon as you said berger electric in salem, I paused the video and subscribed. I live in Columbiana. Got a junkyard in lisbon.
I’m in the U.K. Bought mine from Machine Mart. 65 stores and they stock ZERO spares or service items for their space heaters. I’ve been waiting over a week for a fuel filter from their centralised spares department in Nottingham. It’s zero degrees outside. The only comparable part I can find, on-line, is in the USA. Truly crappy machine which is forever breaking (3 years old). The USA understands customer service. Mine is a Clarke XR60 if you’d like to avoid buying one.
well watched your video very nice 'my heater starts then stops i think the compasser is bad what do you think ;it was working thank you motor runs slow then shuts off
Awesome video! Very good explaination of how that works. Is that a dasa brand heater? Where did you get parts for it? I have a similar indirect fired one i need to get some parts for
Great video!! I’m having the issue with the motor sticking and spinning in the wrong direction... would like to try and swap out the capacitor... gonna check out local motor shops for more info
have you seen were it surges, every 2 seconds. original it had a cracked Fues line and that was replaced and worked great for about a month as needed say 2 hrs a day. now it does get hot wahoo but surges. mine is a 70,000 btu Mr Heater. Thanks in advance for any ideas
You didn't show the spring and ball assembly on the adjustment does the spring go in first or the ball go in first and how do you turn it to adjust it in or out to get your proper
I dont know if you are still answering questions here but I need help if you are.. I have the 125t professional series. The ignitor glows for about 5-10 seconds and then goes off, the fan never starts, I dont know if the fan not starting is causing the ignitor to turn off or if the ignitor turning off to soon is causing the fan not to spin??? I got aggravated and kicked it, not hard, and it started right up and ran until I turned it off, now its back to the same issue. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated! Edit: I meant to say also the fan spins fairly easily by hand so its not locked up. Seems to have a capacitor under the motor but its made in the wiring and I cant find any mention of replacing it anywhere online, everywhere just says buy a new motor.
I watched the video and still have questions. Mine lights, runs fine and when the stove reaches the temperature set on the thermostat the stove stops running and the indicator shows "no flame". I have replaced the photo eye and the circuit board with no change in the issue. If I set the stove outside where it can't reach the setting on the thermostat it will run for hours without a problem. I am at a loss as to the problem.
Verry good vídeo help a lot,. My cuestión is when you use tve feeler gage what does 3000 mean? I have one that says 0.30 0.40 and 0.70. Is this in noches , now milmeters 200, 315 , what size are you talking about. Thank you for your help
When i put the cover back on over the air pump rotor my fan won't spin. Loosen the bolts, spins great. Any thoughts as i am only talking finger tight? Also does the fuel line go to the back nozzle or the one closest to the flame? Thanks
Great video, very informative. I have a 150,000 btu kero space heater, works good but only if top cover isn't fixed down all the way. Shuts down as soon as all screws are tightened down. Any ideas?. Thanks
Thank you for taking the time to produce this video with clear and systematic explanations. My ReddyHeater 55,000 starts and runs for a minute or two then stops with a blown fuse. Although the manual states a GMA 10 fuse is recommended, the original fuse in the fuse holder on the circuit board was 6.3amps of which I blown several three. Then from Amazon I acquired the GMA 10 fuse, which didn't blow. But worse, the igniter disintegrated about 90secs after starting the heater. I removed the air pump rear plate and noticed black marks where the rotor or vanes had marked it in two places. The clearance between the rotor and housing is 0.002in. Before ordering more parts, could you offer any thoughts that might remedy my problem? Victor Moore
Unfortunately I really don't have any suggestions for you. I do not know what would cause the igniter to disintegrate other than possibly wrong voltage which is nearly impossible. Maybe the igniter was damaged and was blowing the lower amp fuse, with the correct fuse it failed, just a thought. Best of luck to you in getting it working properly. Thanks for watching.
Thank you Brian. One final thought to consider: the heater worked fine when purchased new about 15 years ago but has sat unused for a decade with the original kerosene in the tank. After the first fuse failed, I drained it, cleaned it and replenish with new. @@SakimasRidgeHomestead
Since my last correspondence, I purchased a new igniter, which seems to be working fine, except the installation booklet accompanying the igniter states it should not remain on for more than a few seconds after the gas ignites. My voltmeter shows it continues to receive a constant 120 volts. I switched the machine off after half a minute of operation. Any further thoughts?
@@mooregoodink7734 Well done sir. Thanks for sharing that adding “perseverance” to troubleshooting a problem is usually the most important variable in the process. The resulting sense of accomplishment and gratification is almost always priceless!!
I have an old Sears 85,000 BTU kerosene turbo heater I cannot find the pressure setting for the pump I was wondering what you recommend for the pressure I have a $50, 000 BTU that's at 3.6 PSI yours is at 5.1 for $115,000 BTU just wondering if you had any idea what $85,000 BTU would run it has the same pump housing that you have in this video thank you if you can help me thank you anyway for the making of the video much help
I have remington 50k btu 3.6 psi is what says on side of mine so I would go for 4.5 other way is if you get nice even glow on front and no harsh smell should be good
I think if the pump pressure is set too low it will run with the cover off but not on. In the video mine stopped running with the cover off and the pump pressure was too high.
That means you need to replace both air filters on the unit. If you happen to see drops of fuel dripping from the front while the unit is fired up and heating, that means your air pump is not getting enough forced air because your filters are dirty/saturated. Hope this helps.
@@SakimasRidgeHomestead Some are designed to run variable fuels & others are specific to kerosene only! is this only spray nozzle size??. My protemp 125,000 runs great on diesel nice clean controlled flame behind nose cone. But my reddy heater 165,000 no matter the psi pump pressure, + or - the flame shoots a bit beyond beyond the cone & the shop fills with a haze of smoke ! Obviously does not like diesel !! everything else is up to par only now wonder about my nozzle theory & spray?
Hi mate love the video very helpful but I can’t find the issue that I have😢 my space heater doesn’t turn on, the button doesn’t light up and everything it’s dead 💔 would you know what the issue can be??
Hi Sakima's Ridge Homestead thank you for your quick reply. I haven’t really checked anything because I wouldn’t know where to start. All I know is the switch is transferring power but somewhere something isn’t doing whats meant to do. Can you recommend me few things what I can check so it turns on
I do not remember at the moment, I'll look back and see if I can find any info, I may have the receipts in the garage somewhere. If I do, I'll let you know.
Just a shot in the dark, but the air pump clearance may be too tight. Might be getting hot and rubbing causing the motor to slow enough to shut the flame down. I had a similar issue months after this video, cleaning the air pump up a little on fine sandpaper worked for me.
Igniter should be upgraded to silicon nitride. Supply house .com has them universal for $13 and you can make it work with any heater. Not at all fragile like this crap for $24
PLEASE HELP . I have almost similar to your mine btu 140,000 the issue I’m having is when the cover is off it runs fine and the. When I put the cover back on and start it then it won’t start it will give me E1 error. Do you know what the issue might be. It’s weird cover off it works fine. Cover back on then it won’t work 🤷🏻
I buy all my parts on eBay, i dont like Amazons politics. My igniter was $21.50 on eBay. Also this is actually a REDDY, you just didn't read the decal.
The big black one was Cole, the brown cocker spaniel was Paisley. Unfortunately, we’ve lost both of them over the last two years. We call the kitchen table “the workbench”.
