Hi Nitin - I have a duff 2.5 ins 5v 500gb hdd In a usb case. The case works ok with other hdd, case led flashes then stays on and flashes when accessed But with the duff hdd the led on the case does not stop flashing. When I unplug the hdd, for a few seconds the drive registers and opens a windows, that window then closes after a few seconds because the drive is unplugged. When I leave the hdd connected no matter how long the led flashes non stop and does not register a window or drive letter or show a disk number in diskpart unless i disconnect the hdd - I note that your diskpart runs under system32 version 6.3.9600 My diskpart runs under system32>diskpart version 10.0.17134.1 in windows 10 any ideas ?

Hi Nittin I have Segate external hard drive that it shows in Disk Management as "Raw" Healthy active partition. But when I perforned a Deep Scan with one of the software it shows "No files found" which make no sense I have data on it. My hdd was used from time to time when I needed to copy files and save them. And about 10 days ago I connected to one of the USB port on my laptop which was kind of loose a bit and I did not used the safe removal and I guess from inserting and taking out it became raw. But no noise or nothing. I will appreciate any help or suggestion Thank you

So can a drive be evaluated in some way up front to know whether it will be saved via this process or if the other software mentioned (Hard Disk Low Level Format Tool) would be a better choice? Does this method compromise or have risk of causing corruption or loss of the files a person is working to recover via making these partition changes? Are there any guide such as "So... you can't access your files via Winodws but your had drive sounds healthy, follow these steps in this order A, B, C, etc) ? I believe my operating system sustained enough corruption that it wont load, but file-recovery software finds my files and up until the point the computer would not load, I noticed NO file that was corrupted when opened. The problem with file recovery software is that it pulls back anything and everything wanted and unwanted from the drive and with generic file names leaving you with a pile of stuff and you get to dig through temporary internet files, and all sorts of junk to find what you hope is there.

Every HDD I tried this on, it worked, but the drive failed again shortly after. There is a reason why the HDD failed in the first place, do you really want to trust a Band aid fix on a HDD that failed once because it is damaged?

I bought an old sata 250gb drive recently for €8 and rather than bring it back as it wouldn't show up as a drive on my laptop - and the little bit of clicking from it that I heard didn't sound too bad - I decided to try your method before opening up, and hey presto! didn't work first time, but second time around, even though the format option didn't appear on windows UI, the create primary partition in CMD window did and in computer management I was able to do a quick format. I'm currently running a full format to make sure all's good so cheers!

For people who are still figuring it out, this method absolutely worked for me on HP Pavillion Laptop with 250GB SSD in internal SATA interface and old 1TB Harddisk in DVD caddy. It took 5 seconds to work perfectly! No need of any other partition softwares. These steps are in correct order. Thanks once again bro

The best tested and tried solution is THIS. just download 'minitool partition wizard'. open the free program connect your corrupted hard drive using a USB connector and wait for it to appear. after it does, just right click on it, select delete partition and wait for it to complete. and that is ALL. I fixed mine and it is working!!!

Havin diskPart open, as soon i plug the external bad drive even diskPart becomes unresponsive so writing "list disk" doesnt work. Unplug the external drive and it all works fine. Any ideas how to formar it back to new conditions? its a pretty new 2.5 drive from WD. Thank you

thanks a lot for your helpful video my friend, i lost all my data but at least saved my external hdd which is very expensive in my country to whom reading this comment; i was using toshiba canvio 2 tb external hdd by the way, which is my latest hdd that i bought and also the least hdd that i would think i am going to have any trouble, but here we are.. so according to my own user experience, i don't recommend this product to anyone, even my older external hdd never made a trouble to me before, which is an samsung M3 external hdd.. take care and stay healthy!

Diskpart is a powerful tool but it will only help with most logical problems. There are some situations when something like "Hard Disk Low Level Format Tool" from HDDGuru will enable you to recover a corrupted drive wherre DiskPart can't. It should be pointed out that major problems like physical drive issues and corrupt firmware, etc are beyond such tools. If Diskpart does put the drive in a usable state I would check it thoroughly with HDTune, Victoria or something similar to make sure the drive isn't failing. Should you clean then format the drive there is still a chance of getting your data back using a decent recovery program like GetDataBack, Reclaime, DMDE. They aren't free but are much better than most over hyped products out there.

My HDD was well. I tried to clean it and i saw a video that clean HDD with Hard Disk Low Level Format Tool. I tried it. Cleaning process interupted twice. Now, I cannot reach my HDD anymore. I plug it USB port, but PC doesn't see it for 30 min. After that duration, it see HDD. But I cannot do anything well with my HDD. What is the problem? What can I do for it?

I tried that part, it took long to show the diskpart, to enter the list part instruction and when I tried the clean option, I observed that it took long to respond but it eventually prompted that disk is clean, so most likely that's the same case

i have the same problem with you. To solve this: 1. Enter the "disk part" command first before plugging in the drive 2. Enter the commands ( Starting from the "list disk" ). For me, each command took a while to finish so wait patiently.

For those that dont have access to windows, try to go somewhere with access to pc and internet. Buy a usb drive, download windows onto it using any pc. Use it as a boot drive. From there windows can run and you can proceed with these steps.

After "create partition primary" - Disk is uninitialized, initializing it to GPT. DiskPart has encountered an error: Data Error (cyclic redundancy check). See the system event log for more information. Any suggestions what can I do?

Yes, but I would higly suggest you to hand over the drive to professionals since they have access to tools and software to extract the data. I know its an old comment, but I visited one of the companies and they managed to extract almost all of my data!
