@@piumiesaranga5336 no problem today i send it back to the store they are deleting all my data and wont make it because i tried to fix it the warranty went away😮💨 this shit makes ne suicidal
None of the solutions fixed my issue but wanted to say thanks for all the possible fixes and walkthroughs! Was very much appreciated and gave me at least a little bit of hope lol
Why tell people to buy software when they can’t ACCESS the drive in the first place?? You are just making a buck on desperate people. If you can’t access a hard drive, then the software won’t be able to either
Thank you for the videos, I have an EXT HDD which is an WD Elements 2TB, I am unable to pick up the drive, and when I go to Disk Management all I see is unallocated. I have data on the drive but unable to retrieve it. What will be the next steps going forward ?
My PC was recognizing the external hard disk but it could not access any files. Running CHKDSK (Solution 4) worked for me. Thank you very much for explaining these solutions !!
None of these fixes worked for me either. However, I haven't sent the hard drive off for repair. The command prompt chkdsk option took two day to run and then told me there were no errors. I know my files are on the disc because one of the options I tried showed every file that was on the drive as is scanned them. I only use this external drive as a backup for my laptop. The last backup was in January and it worked fine. Now when I click on the Seagate Dashboard to run a backup, I get an error message that says "The Seagate management system has not started. The application will close" There is no other option but to close the app. The Device manager option you suggested told me the device was working properly. However, all attempts to fix have so far have failed. My next option will be to delete the software and try redownloading it and reinstalling it. If that doesn't work, then I will reformat the hard drive and start over. Hopefully then it will work and I can run a fresh backup. Thanks for your info to try to help.
Update: I ran a virus scan on my external drive and found a high risk Trojan file. I fixed that but still the Dashboard wouldn't open. I still got the same error message. I then deleted my Seagate Dashboard program and reinstalled it from the website (now called Seagate tool). That fixed it. I am now able to run a backup, like I have always done. Whew! It took 2.5 days of trying things. Wish I had started with the program delete and reinstallation.
I have an external hard drive that was fine until I travelled with it abroad in March this year. All my others work perfectly. I'm trying your software to see if that works because it recognises the drive is there but does not open it. Bloody strange. I downloaded your software. The scan took a few hours only to find to recover the files you have to PAY. I wouldn't have minded but you don't say that up front?
Sir I have an issue with my external hard disk that it shows it is not initialised and unknown and it is not showing any disk size like 1000gb...and in properties it shows 0 kb . How to fix this. I didn't get any video solving this issue.
I couldn’t be more grateful!! I had a external hard drive that started making noise today and just died on me! It had 10years worth of files and most importantly pictures and I’m a photographer and I had no back ups for it. Did the Chkdsk took about 4 hours but I recovered everything! I can’t thank you enough for this!!!
very useful. I try using different cords, because some cords aren't made for your device. Well, I hope I don't have to do another recovery because it was so expensive last time. It cost me about $1 per photo and I had about 1K.
The problem i'm facing is, when i connect my USB external hard drive with my computer, it makes my computer little slow and Hard-drive shown in file explorer with driver letter but data (files/folders) inaccessible even it disables my Windows Disk Management tool. The question is, what happens when i try to open Disk-Management tool. When i open DM-Tool, it doesn't even show my OS main drive and made halted my computer. It looks like serious problem. Any solution?
Thanks although I have to come back to finish, your video is fairly easy to follow. Sometimes solutions show things I don't have on my Windows 11, but you are up to date.
my computer doesn't detect my external HD even other computers and laptops, if i connect i try connecting it in the computer the small light that indicates that it is connected, lights but my hard drive doesn't make the sound it makes(the sound it makes indicate that it's working) i don't know what to do help anyone??????🥲🥶😭😭😭😭
Great video. Congrats. But I still need some help over here. My drive is listed on device manager, but not at disk manager or under my PC. Therefore, I cannot use any of the methods that requires a drive letter. I've tried to update the driver but it says it's using the best ones. I don't care about the files, I just want to use the HDD... Can you think of something else I can try by myself? Best
Works fine on my windows 10 pc but when I plug it into my windows 7 laptop it does not show the files. I’m just trying to transfer games from my laptop to PC.
Thank you tons bro....🙏 You made my day ❤️. I had this problem for many many days and the worse part is, it is my friend's hard disk... It had his personal and important data... Now it is all up and available. 😀. 🤝🎉👍. Hence, subscribed your channel and liked your video as a token of appreciation ... Kudos!
Even recoverit cannot find my drive. I've tried every possible option there is on the internet. Nothing works for this stupid hd of mine and I've got a lot to recover in it. I really do not know what to do.
04:02 Thank you soooo much. You saved me a lot. I had the 3TB WD Elements and I executed the command at 4:02 and the comp ran for mor than half a day and when i was back home from work I had all the data in front of me. Thnaks sooo much.
I got Seagate one touch ultra..i had my hdd password on...today it suddenly stopped work....i was playing media over it..and it showed path not found..i thought it got disconnected and tried plugging it in again...then when i plug it in..i got detected but when i put password my pc gets freezes and it just processes abd processes then shows its no accessible ...invalid parameters
Hi there, thank you for your question! I would recommend trying to download the Seagate toolkit and verify if the drive is accessible through the software. It might be an issue with the drive itself you could try formatting the drive but this will erase all the data on the drive.
Hi there, thank you for your question! Its most likely an issue related to drive partitioning, drive letter assignment, or file system errors. Start by checking Disk Management to see if the drive appears as Unallocated, missing a drive letter, or showing as RAW. If it’s unallocated, create a new partition; if it’s missing a drive letter, assign one by right-clicking the drive and selecting Change Drive Letter and Paths. If the file system is RAW, you can try running CHKDSK to fix errors, though formatting might be needed. Also, test the hard disk with different USB ports or cables, and try connecting it to another computer to rule out system-specific issues.
If none of these worked for you (just like for me) i recommend Total Commander. I was able to access the disk as administrator and copy the files to my pc.
I just got a new computer, tried hooking up old harddrive, I have permissions, but just sits there and loads forever never opening. I need the data on there, it was just working 24 hrs ago. Its a SSD Sandisk. I can't imagine it broke in just 24hrs. I didn't drop it or anything, just plugged into a hard drive enclosure. Any help, I really need a file on there....?
Hi there, thank you for your question! To retrieve the data, first, check all connections between the SSD and the new computer to ensure they're secure. Try a different USB port or enclosure, as the current one might be faulty. Check if the SSD is recognized in Disk Management (Windows) or Disk Utility (Mac) and assign a drive letter if needed. If it still won't open, consider using data recovery software such as Recoverit to access and retrieve your files. Check for drive errors using built-in utilities like "chkdsk" (Windows) or "fsck" (Mac). If all else fails, try connecting the SSD to another computer. If the data is crucial and you can't access it, contact a data recovery service for professional assistance
I was actually very fortunate and was able to transfer all my files from the external hardrive onto other disks before formatting it but still won't initialize on my computer. It shows up in the disk management area but not in the File Explorer area. There is no longer a drive letter assigned to it. Just says element 2620 and refuses to intialize.
Hi there, thank you for your question! If you tried all the steps in the video it could be an issue with the drive itself and I would recommend taking it to a professional for further assistance.
Hi there, thank you for your question. The choice between exFAT and NTFS depends on your needs and how you plan to use the external hard drive. exFAT is a good choice if you need to use the drive with both Windows and macOS, as it is compatible with both operating systems. It also works well for storing large files, such as videos and large databases. NTFS is a Windows-native file system and has better performance and security features compared to exFAT. However, NTFS has limited compatibility with macOS by default. macOS can read NTFS drives, but it cannot write to them without additional software or workarounds. If you only plan to use the external hard drive with Windows computers, NTFS is the better option. If you need to share the drive between Windows and macOS or need broader compatibility, exFAT is a better choice.
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU. Solution 4: Run CHKDSK to Repair Disk is what worked for me, it was running for over 12 hours but now I have access to all my files again
I have a 2TB external hard disk. It has two partitions I can access one partion (194gb) but the bigger partition isn’t opening. My hard disk heated up like never before when the problem started. Help me
Hi there, thank you for your question! Try disconnecting and cooling down the drive first. Check connections and cables, test it on another computer, and use disk management tools to see if the partition appears but needs a drive letter assignment. If the partition remains inaccessible, use data recovery software to retrieve data from the corrupted partition. Before attempting any recovery, back up any accessible data from the working partition.

Hi there, using the chkdsk command, I tried to fix my external HDD but it didn't work. Initially, It seemed working by displaying the file system type (NTFS), however, the chkdsk process was ultimately aborted and a message pops out saying "the first NTFS boot sector is corrupt or unreadable". It then seems trying to read the second sector (displayed such a message) but again, it states that it's unable to determine its volume and state. Ultimately, I couldn't access my data. Any help ???
Thank you so so so so so much I tried the 4th method first, as everyone was saying it was working, but it didn't do anything I started to lose hope, and that's when I tried the last method {running a troubleshoot} and it worked !!!! thank god and thank you ❤❤ well it was fun while it lasted, I just discovered that my drive itself could be broken or something is wrong with its interior 😢
My external wd disk doesnt show in windows explorer but in disk mgmt n device manager. But when i click to initialize in disk mgmbt it says request failed due fatal hardware error
Hi there, If your external hard disk is not showing up in disk management, it's possible that there is an issue with the connection between the hard disk and your computer. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue: Check the cable and connections. Check if the hard disk is spinning up. Check if the hard disk is recognized on another computer. Check the power supply. Try data recovery software. Download Recoverit here: bit.ly/3ZoowNK If none of these steps work, it's possible that the hard disk has failed and may need to be replaced.
Hi i have an issue whereas whenever i plugh external hard drive my computer starts slowing down and lagging, i checked the disk it says its working properly? What am i supposed to do?
Hi there, thank you for your question! Check the USB ports and cables for any faults and try connecting the hard drive to a different port. Scan your computer for malware and viruses to ensure they are not causing the performance issues. Update the drivers for both the external hard drive and USB controllers to the latest versions. Optimize your computer's performance through tasks like disk cleanup and defragmentation. Test the external hard drive on another computer to determine if the issue is specific to your system. Consider using a powered USB hub to provide sufficient power to the hard drive.
So none of these things allowed me to access the drive, so downloading your software to recover things on the drive would not work because the drive is not accessible
Hi there, thank you for your question! If your drive isn't accessible at all still then it might be a mechanical issue and I would recommend taking it to a professional for further assistance.
Hi my laptop D drive one folder is disappeared or missing . how to resolve. i tried all recovery software's but still im not found that folder.. how to recover please help me
Hi there, It is possible to recover permanently deleted data. You can try the trial version to check if your files can be found. If so, then it is suggested to buy to recover them back. Try Recoverit for free here: bit.ly/3Yte0n0
Howdy. Nice. I would like to mention two more possibilities. 1. I ran chkdsk in win11. It reported that there is not enough space to replace bad clusters. It did nothing. Then I ran chkdsk in winXP. That began to work. I ran it several times until it reported no more fixes. Disk usage info became visible in properties. 2. I booted into Ubuntu Linux from a flash stick. Hooray. In Ubuntu I was able to copy almost everything to another drive. Regards.
MY EXTERNAL 4TB HDD JUST KEEPS NOT RESPONDING WHEN I RIGHT CLICK IT+If its in the usb at a restart the pc win 11 just gets a black screen untill i take out cable from usb.. Tried to format it but just keeps on loading n loading so never possible to even formate it.... What to do with the hdd?
Hi there, thank you for your question! Check your external hard drive is powered up and connected securely to your PC with a good USB cable. You can also try a different USB port or a different PC to see if the problem persists. Check your drive is enabled and allocated/mounted in Disk Management.
@@RecoveritDataRecoverySoftware hi i used old pc and used the defrag program(took many hours)But it seems to be running again on my older pc(got a new 2tb insted that i had forgotten so just great of u to answer if i had not got it running again) I think it stopped due to always having it 99% full n never optemize/defrag it n might that be the case to malfunction(it was not a fun day,but then again when stuff dont work its always a horrible day) Thanks again 4 answer
Guys I could really appreciate some help. My HDD is recognized. It shows up with a drive letter, but not the name I renamed the HDD. I’ve done recovery tool scans on it and it found the files, I was even able to preview many of them! So the files are still *there*, but I can’t access it through My PC. What could be wrong? Is this a partition issue?
Thank you so much! Chkdsk solution worked for me, took 5 hours to scan a half full 1Tb drive. Curiously my Mac could see the drive but Windows unable to read it. All back to normal, very grateful.
Hi there, thank you for your question. Experiencing File Explorer crashes or unresponsiveness can be frustrating, but there are several potential solutions to address this issue. Here's a step-by-step guide to help you troubleshoot and resolve the problem: 1. Restart Your Computer: Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve temporary issues. Reboot your computer and check if the problem persists. 2. Update Your Operating System: Ensure that your operating system is up-to-date with the latest updates and patches. Microsoft regularly releases updates that may include bug fixes. 3. Check for Disk Errors: Use the built-in Windows tool to check for disk errors. Right-click on the drive in File Explorer, select "Properties," go to the "Tools" tab, and click on "Check."
When I try access my hard drive my laptop just keeps freezing ...but if connected it to my TV it plays no problem helping have a lot off data in that hard drive
i tried but my issue is not resolved got this reply can you help what to do? The type of the file system is RAW. CHKDSK is not available for RAW drives.
Hello... do you have any advice for M2 Macs... my new M2 mac will not unlock a detected WD hard drive back up disk... so I am not able to transfer my data from old mac to new one. I am given a prompt warning... "WD Unlocker quit unexpectedly". Thanks.
Hi there, thank you for your question! This issue occurs because WD Unlocker is not supported on macOS 64-bit systems. I recommend connecting to a 32-bit Mac system or trying WD Discovery/ WD Security to unlock the drive.
Just asking why my toshiba hdd model2019 cant access to my laptop even it is visible ,this was happen when i try to plug in to smart tv ,due to the hdd have already have a ntfs

Please Help! My External HDD shows the blue screen of death once it's plugged in and then the system restarts. It's over 3 weeks this problem started. I've tried it on other systems and the results are the same. 2 days ago i took it to a computer shop to see if they could help, it showed on their system but not accessible as it didn't open. They tried to recover my data with Stellar recovery software but it just wouldn't bulge. At the moment I don't know what to tell my clients about their construction drawings that are in the HDD. Please is there a remedy to this sort of problem? It's my first time to encounter such. I know this video is a year old sonce it was uploaded, forgive my being late but I need help and don't know anywhere else to go. Reply
Hi there, thank you for your question! Since the issue persists across multiple systems and the HDD is not accessible, it suggests that there might be a problem with the HDD itself. To troubleshoot the issue, start by checking the connections, scanning for malware, and testing the HDD on a different operating system. If these steps don't work, consider contacting professional data recovery services or consulting with a computer technician. However, I cannot guarantee a solution or the success of data recovery efforts, so it's best to seek professional assistance.
Hi sir, I just bought a 2tb hdd external then I reformat it from exFAT to NTFS but during the format the hdd makes a noise and then it stops formatting it was detected by the PC but I cannot open it. Any suggestions sir to fix it? Thanks
Hi there, thank you for your question! To troubleshoot the issue, try disconnecting and reconnecting the drive, running disk error checking using Windows' built-in tool, testing the drive on a different PC, updating drivers and firmware, utilizing data recovery software if needed, and seeking professional help if none of the previous steps work, especially if the drive is still under warranty.
Hi there, thank you for your question! I would recommend trying to disable any third party software that might conflict with the drive by pressing Windows + R then type msconfig and go to services and then select the hide all Microsoft services then click disable all and see if it solves your issue. If that doesn't work I would recommend taking it to a professional for further assistance.
EASY FIX: RUN CMD, WRITE: chkdsk /f u: - u is the letter of my harddrive, you put your letter in instead of the U, let it run and your problem is fixed !
I have been using segate external harddrive . so the issue is, it connects to system (Windows 11 OS ) but when I try to access files in it or try to copy something from it or into it in shows error message like 'New Volume (G:)' is not responding. Also it makes screen white sometimes. Any suggestions on how to fix it.
Hi there, Thank you for your question. If you are having issues with accessing files on your Seagate external hard drive, there are a few steps you can take to fix the problem. You can run a virus scan to check if there is an infection causing the issue, check the disk for errors by using the Windows File Explorer tool, update the drivers for your external hard drive, or try using a different USB port or cable. If none of these steps work, you may need to recover your data from the hard drive and reformat it. Data recovery software such as Recoverit can help you recover data from a hard drive, and then you can reformat the hard drive using Windows Disk Management or a third-party tool.
My issue is with Transcend StoreJet software, it works the file opens and so does the software but all the tabs in the software are greyed out and i cant open them so i just wanna figure out how to fix that.
Hi there, thank you for your question! Have you checked for software updates on Transcend's website, run the software as an administrator, and consider running it in compatibility mode for an older Windows version. Ensure there are no conflicts with other software or drivers by closing background applications, and if the problem persists, try uninstalling and reinstalling the software. Confirm that your Transcend StoreJet external hard drive is properly connected, and keep its drivers up to date. If the issue remains unresolved, contact Transcend's customer support for specific solutions
No luck here yet, but I've submitted a "report the problem" via the software. My portable hard drive shows up; however, when attempting to open it, nothing except for message "E:\ is not accessible. The parameter is incorrect." Even when trying to get into right-click properties takes forever and the functions do not appear to work once it pops up but everything regarding the drive says it is working normally. Been using it for a few months for mp4 video files and just transferred a lot onto it and believe I may have maxed it out even though, the transfer wasn't rejected. I've tried all the checks found to include new usb, new cord, scan fix, chkdsk, driver update, changed drive letter, etc., except I did not try formatting the drive as I do not want to lose the videos. The only thing found that maybe clued me to think the hard drive is too full to function is that a scan did found fragmented/corrupt files related to GoPro .LRV files but it stated that there is not enough space to repair. So I went ahead and attempted this Recoverit software and it will not pull up the drive and throws an error to remove all external devices and try again. When I unplug the portable drive, there is a quick glimpse of my e:\ drive but disappears. Thoughts?
Update: I noticed in the software that it stated that if the drive does not show up, then attempt to open Disk Management and scan through it using the software. I couldn't find a way to scan via Disk Management using the software; however, all of a sudden, the drive popped up in Recoverit software while I had both open... I quickly clicked the scan and it appeared to lock up at 1% but after just leaving it be for an hour, I came back and it was at 30% which is where is stayed... I went ahead and tried the recover function which queued me to pay the $70 fee which I did. I was able to save most of the files to another drive to include the important Christmas videos. This morning, I went to do remaining and the software lost connection and now unable to get the software to see the drive again. The hard drive is now making clicking noise which now could be a hardware failure. I'm pleased that I was able to get most of the video files especially the important ones done first. Now I'm sending this Toshiba 4TB Canvio back under warranty for replacement. Reply
