Finally, I asked customer service and used option+command+R to solve the problem. Only command+R didn't work. I hope this helps the next suffering partner.
You are a lifesaver! This was driving me nuts but by following the video I have resolved the issue. The date that my machine showed was yesterday but by updating as indicated this sorted it out :)
ignore this help video as it's out of date! And try this, Shut down your Mac, and simultaneously hold down these keys: Command + Option + R (not just Command + R). After doing this, In the 'Reinstalling MacOS' field, it will offer you Ventura or other recent OS and off you go. If you only hold down 'Command + R' the system takes you to an older recovery setup offering older OS like High Sierra, which Apple no longer supports. That’s why you get the message: 'Recovery Server Could Not Be Contacted.' So all that changing the time stuff won't help. Good luck!
to anyone still stuck at this message and not able to get around it , I found the solution..u have to do the same internet recovery mode by holding R, alt, command (all 3) at start up instead of just command , R .. its stupid but it literally changes everything by giving u a completely Dif set of options.(same options actually but in a new Dif style list). I guess high Sierra is no longer able to get any support so the new options will install monetery . it will not give u a message with it and install without any hiccups.. I hope this helps someone that is stuck getting the same frustrating speed bump that cost me my patience
Thanks - this worked for me! "option + command + r" brings up different recovery menu. It give me option to restore macOS Ventura. First thing is to connect to WIFI again, format disc with disc utility and then restore macOS Ventura.

This worked out for me and it got updated to MacOS Big Sur (not sure if this is newer than HighSierra). I did not use my laptop for 6 months and that should be the problem as you mentioned. Thanks!

Hello! Greetings from Argentina. I have a Macbook Pro 2018. I want to install Sierra and it won't let me. I get "recovery server installer information is corrupted". I follow your steps, the ones to change the date from terminal, I put the correct format and it doesn't work for me! I don't know what to do, I'm desperate. If you can help me I would appreciate it.
But the white bar above utilities is not showing for me so I cannot access terminal and the shortcut for terminal is also not showing up so I can’t change the date and time settings and stuck not being able to download Mac OS. Someone please help
It’s the simple things us computer illiterate people don’t understand! Thank you for this!! I couldn’t even see the Wi-Fi logo on the top right hand corner till I read this comment! Worked perfect after that!
I have tried this about a million times and it will not work. When I click disk utility I can see the os x base system but I cannot restore it. I know nothing about what i am doing but i really need this imac to work> Please help me.
If you still get the message be sure WiFi is ON & that you enter the current date and time!!!!!! This runs on 24 hrs so if you are sitting at 1133pm you need to enter 2333 for your time.
Hi I did your method and now it’s saying “The installer information on the recovery server is damage “ I using a MacBook Air 2017 MacOS Sierra . Please help me
