Why can't all v-brake RU-vid videos be this good? Every other video seemed to mention loads of stuff that made no difference like disconnecting the cables etc yet I followed your advice and 30 seconds later with a few turns of a screw and one of my blocks is no longer rubbing on the rim. 😎 Thank-you. 😊
This video may be older but it came in Sooo handy I just got a new bike online had to build it out of the box and first thing I noticed after putting the front wheel on was this exact issue, every other how to fix issue made me start with the quick release, then undo the brake pads themselves and put it all back but finally got the answer I needed thanks to your video and just have to adjust those little screws , thank you!
Sir, you're just more then awesome I fall in love with your work I have recently around 2-3 days ago bought a new bicycle from hercules store a new wild rock series 26t bike But i was Facing this problem And the store is around 2.5 km far from my home and as a 17 years old men it's hard to go and visit the store and repair this 😅 For that in home I was try to solve this problem I was really freaked out for this but today in my home garage I watched your video and solved my problem after a hour cuz I have no experience for that,so making it better was little problematic and now my bicycle become monster, thanks to you sir Lot's of love from india❤🎉
This was so helpful! Clear and concise. I used it to solve part of the brake issue. The other part was the brake cable was too tight and then some good ole WD40 to the moving parts! Happy days!
Bro, you're a life saver, thank you so much! I had this problem on my bike and I was very frustrated as it's expensive and new, but this just saved me a lot of hassle with complaints and repair shops.
Thank you for your video, I can’t tell you what a difference this has made to my bike, I was given this bike months ago and I was finding it hard to cycle and it put me off this bike, which was a shame as I quite liked the look of it, I discovered today that incredibly I have had one side of my front brake constantly rubbing against the wheel making cycling this bike awful. When I discovered what was actually happening I was at a complete loss on how to fix this, of course having watched your video I have now fixed the problem. I really just want to say a big thank you, from an old man who learnt a new trick😊
Thank you!! I haven't been on a bike in forty years. I traveled a few miles on a bike path two days ago with my new bike, and the whole way back, my brake was catching and come to find out it was also rubbing on the tire itself. With this simple explanation, I set my brakes perfectly!!! I can't thank you enough!! ❤
Thanks, great video. Spacers on the axle at the dropouts is another adjustment to center things. Your technique is a great finishing fine tuning touch.
Thanks m8! My son has just had his 1st mountain bike for his 7th this week. Your video helped me understand the v brake set-up. One side of the front was rubbing, now it isn't. Cheers!!
Great video. The instructions manual could have explained this a lot easier but it set out to confuse from the start. This simple short video fixed it in one! Thanks
Excellent! Dude, that was perfect. I fought and cursed my stupid brakes for 30min yesterday trying to fix before my ride. I'd been riding with one side rubbing and causing me to work twice as hard. Tried adjusting but I did was loosen the hell out of the whole front brake to the point it was near useless. Your video saved me a mountain of stress. Thanks again.🔥
Thank you! as a newer bike rider I'm trying to figure out issues on my own and this definitely helped. I had no idea and initially thought my screws just needed to be tightened. lol. Glad I checked.
Awesome bro. Super helpful and solved my issue with brakes rubbing. Plus you explained it better then any other RU-vid video I watched lol. Thanks agin
Wow that's not even that bad, all my local stores charge $80 minimum just to take a look at them without any work done. Either way this saved me a lot of money!
Thank you so much for making this video. I can't even imagine how much money the thieves at the local bike shop would have charged me for this adjustment!
What do you suggest if the mini-V brakes on an old Giant Propel look good before squeezing the brake levers, but after they are imbalanced? I get rim brake rub while climbing/sprinting out of the saddle with my carbon wheels
I just changed out the pads on my bike's rear brakes (front brake is a disc type), and ran into this problem. The linear / "V" brakes seem much easier to work with than the "caliper" types I remember fighting with on older bikes our family has owned, so I'm impressed.
Well thank you much that will solve the problems on my bike I will browse your channel to find out about cantilever brakes as well I've got a problem with that too
Thank you Mike, now my problem is I'm running out of space to screw in/ out. I have already offset the pin position on the bike frame. Is there another way to dial in?
Thank you for doing just that one correction, and I like how you displayed evrything... real nice to see this in action, especially since I havn't seen anyone give any simple rule of thumb on how to what is happening. What's tightening & what's loosening the screw, as well as why it's for the part that it's for???? I keep wondering who even designed this, and then there is the new tech that's entirely different now, but then there is so many models of the same tech we already have. UHG...lol Thank YOU!
awesome video, but my question is how do you like these brakes? im debating on purchasing the shimano alivio brake set, but these caught my eye. how did these perform? these look like the amazon set i was eyeing.
Bought my dad a new shwinn 29 inch cruiser rear rim is really wonky. Contacted schwinn and they sent me a replacement. Same wonky rim. Brakes hit on one side. Did your walk thru and it’s Better but still hits. Anyway to make the brake pads have a bigger gap on both side to clear the rim ? Thanks !!!!
Update: your instructions were lovely and I was able to adjust; however, no matter how I adjusted, 1 pad was rubbing. Looks like at least one pad tilted and possibly wheel wobbling out of alignment. So, taking it in to the shop lol. Thanks again!
I backed my tension screw out too far and it came out. No matter what it won't go back in. Its like it doesn't want to bite into anything and just pulls out again. What am I doing wrong?
I accidentally unscrewed it all the way and the spring and screw came off. I lost the spring and now I'm trying put the screw back in but it looks like it's being pushed out by a rubber stopper. Any ideas on how I can't put it back in? Thanks
That is the exact problem I was not knowing how to correct. So do you have a video on getting my back brakes on my adult trike to work. Is there suppose to be a screw on the top of where the brake pad is, I have only one below. I squeeze the lever and I am not getting any stopping at all... help!
@@Zesmas I just realized my wheel isn't in light with the brakes so you need to see if that's the problem (if your reading his comment a while after he made it)
My friend I having the same problem with grandson bike, but I tried and nothing, actually the front brake is completly brake and my grandson can not ride it. Please I need your help. Thanks
I have a Redhawk mtb bike with mountain/flat tires, and every time I try this, the maximum that I've got one break away from the tire is still very low, and it's like everytime I adjust it no difference accorus
@@nandishgs9640 how do you do that? Adjusting the screws did nothing. I have one side nearly out and the other as tight as it’ll go and it still is rubbing on the loose side.
I have brakes that look pretty much exactly like that but don't have that adjustment screw. how are people in my situation supposed to adjust the brakes?
Neither handle bar cable or the tension adjustments seemed to work so I removed the nuts at fork of tire mount and recentered the tire and finger tightened the nuts manually and that seemed to work. Then I had to re-adjust the tension screws. At least I know what their function is now.
