Thanks for the video! Note that never revisions (the new revision has all silver screws) have two screws less, so you do not need to detach the board. Makes this even easier and a bit less error prone.
Thank you so much for the video! My triangle button wasn't working, and I had no clue how to take my controller apart. Your video helped me so much, and now the triangle button works.
Yes. This worked for me! One day my controller started pressing buttons randomly by itself. I didn't drop it and it wasn't dirty. It was clean as a whistle inside. I took it apart, blew on in and put it back together and now it works!
Thank you so much. I dropped my controller and the X button stopped working.. I had to smack it a few times and it would work for about 3 mins before stopping again.. It eventually became so frustrating I threw the controller at the wall. Then I threw it on the ground it the button stopped working entirely. That's when I stopped being a caveman and decided to open it up. Your video made it pretty simple to do. Cleaned up the area, made sure everything was secure and before I could finish putting it back together the button was working again! I accidentally powered it on while still reassembling it lol. Anyone struggling to get the back part off just make sure the little latches on the front are unlatched. Also, I broke the mic.. the cable ripped somehow.. I didn't detach it when I removed the black plate. Ordered new cables on Amazon even tho i don't use the mic but it was $3 and looks pretty simple to fix. Thanks again!
Thanks for video! It saved my controller, even though I wasn't as relaxed as you while opening and cleaning it 😂. The most annoying part was closing it after cleaning, especially the ribbon part.
I lost one of the final two screws. I thought that like I wasn’t going to find it I didn’t so you and I found out that you can use one from the back of the PS4 controller. I am so glad so happy because I spent like two hours trying to find that screw I didn’t find it so I used PS4 one instead still works
Thanks for the video, it helped a lot. My controller is different but changes in design are insignificant (just two screws less then yours) so thanks again for easy to follow guide.
Took me a min to do but thank you for sharing your knowledge with us. Just saved me $80. Worked like a charm when i finalky got the controller back together the right way lol.
The controller i have is a bit different compared to the one in the video but overall the video helped me take apart my controller safely so thanks very much!
This video helped I noticed the flat rubber for the buttons wasn’t letting tho o get pressed so i took it off and rotated it and it worked thanks i also cleaned it like in the video
Cleaning contacts did not make my triangle work again, thanks for the guide, only snapped the set of pins on the bottom trying to remove the ribbon cable and subsequently had the other ends of ribbon cables fall out, used tweezers to get them back, Upon reconstruction my controllers speaker was killed due to me snapping pins The guide is good, I hate ribbon cables, and already bought a new controller thanks
I thought my controller had terminal stick drift. Thanks to you I was able to operate and realized that it was in fact terminal. Thanks for the guide, found some real dirty areas in need of cleaning. Unfortunately after removing the joysticks and cleaning everywhere with alcohol, pressurized air, and dry paper towels, I was sure I had fixed the issue. After reassembly I turn on my console and immediately hear the dreadful sound of navigating to the leftmost part of the menu in nanoseconds. The cleaning did nothing; thanks Sony for murdering my controller.
Destroyed the side trying to take the back part off, have to get a new one over a sticky square button. The worst part is I just took an alcohol and a q tip after and it fixed the problem.
i had a few buttons that were a little sticky becusee i splashed some mountain dew on my controller. But all i did and it’s fine now it take a que tip dip it in a little bit of water and swab around the bottom
I tried cleaning with 99% rubbing alcohol as well as cleaning the D pad and it still gets stuck going left. I'm not even pushing the button and the d pad is going left. Maybe that's just severe left stick drift I'm not entirely sure.
X, then square and yesterday was the O. I've came to conclusion that Sony totally screwed up this controller. I've had every system ever made n never once have I had a controller issue. Ps5 straight up poor
It isn't rly, you're right. Unless you're familiar with this kinda thing takes time, but if you can manage to do it, it'll save you a bunch of money. Just did mine. Took an hour or so, but got er done.
