hi and thanks for watching, you take the 02 sensor of the exaust pipe and install the pressure gauge (hose) in the 02 sensor port and turn on the engine so can see if the cat creates pressure or not, this is called back pressure test, when done take out the hose n put the sensor back (old or new).

bank 1 is the rear by the fire wall, and if you have a code for the cat then the last sensor after the cat, that is the one you have to work on you can do it from beneath the van.

if the truck drives fine, no dragging at all or loss of power, that means the cat is not clogged so you are not doing any damage to the engine, come back n go might be because a bad cat, cats are damaged in different ways or an 02 sensor that it is not entirely accepted by the pcm, if you install a spacer n if the light goes away n does not come back then you have a bad cat and then you can procede to replace the cat.

yes normally if the truck drives with no problem or if it does not drag or looses power then the cats should be flowing with no restrictions but it is very good idea to back pressure test them.

if it happened after it, most likely a hose was cracked or not well insert it, or vacuum hose put in wrong spot, most of the time on toyota and lexus or sion this code is caused by a leak, exhaust leak, leaking injectors, hoses, bad maf sensor, dirty air filter and finally the sensor it self.

@@ShckedMe hi, personally i buy denso all the time, if im gonna use any 02 sensor adapter or mini cat i always use denso n it has always worked so well.

90% of the time when you get these codes is because you have a bad cat, do back pressure test to find out if it is plugged, if not, then you can test the 02 sensor, try to trick the pcm, or replace cat and 02 sensor. also check for leaks.

@JM Auto Repair I think I have a leak by the exhaust manifold is there any quick fixed for that

quick fix only by putting some muffler tape or paste but it is better to fix it good by welding it or adding a piece according to how damage it is.
