Dump a gallon of lacquer thinner in your gas tank and drive it. That normally clears the code for about 2,000-5,000 miles. Also when the light comes on your catalytic converter is still operating at 95% efficiency. These Siennas are very sensitive to throwing these codes. Get spacers for the oxygen sensors at $15 and install them and this normally solves the problem.

I have a 2004 seinna CE and I am getting p0430 code for bank 2. I replaced both 02 sensors and still getting the light but it comes on thousand or more miles later after replacing both 02 sensor. Does this mean for sure it is the catalytic converter? Thank you for your time and your video is very helpful.

Wow he really made this look like an easy job, ….however, because he also replaced the sensors it’s possible that replacing the catalytic converter may not have been necessary…..the code could have been caused by only 1 of the 3 parts being replaced and I have found it extremely rare for both sensors AND the converter to all have failed at the exact same time. This is a classic case of not diagnosing / troubleshooting and just throwing parts/$$ at the problem. Always bring your car to a diagnostic technician before going to a mechanic.
@a2zautomasters862
@a2zautomasters862 Год назад
Thank you for your comment and I appreciate you watching my videos. That particular car was checked and diagnosed and the problem was the Catalytic converter however to get full warranty on Cat/converter we’re required to change O2 sensors on that exact Cat. I’m not just a mechanic I’m an educated tech and we have up to date state of the art equipment. We definitely don’t guess here.

The problem should be diagnose right first to make sure what’s the actual problem is but if you changing the Cat/converter we always recommend change the sensors too. That’s how we get full warranty on converter. Denso is the brand to go. 234-9012 is top rear. 234-9042 is top front. 234-4168 is bottom front and 234-4512 is down rear.

@@a2zautomasters862 I am about to buy a 2006 Sienna with 126000 miles. it has no issues with the catalytic converter and passes smog tests in california. My question is, I heard these siennas have 3 cats, which is the most common one that has problems on this Sienna? is it the one that you replaced? @a2zautomasters862
@a2zautomasters862 3 года назад
Hey @@robertp9370 ! I can’t really say if one goes bad more than the other, it depends on how was the car maintained and when a tune up was done. The main cause of Cats going bad is bad tune up. The third and last cat usually is the last to go bad. I wouldn’t change any of them unless you have a check engine light was a code otherwise, if it’s not broken, don’t fix it.
@EuroTecStylo
@EuroTecStylo 2 года назад
Can you explain more about how you diagnosed a bad cat? Based off the code? If the cat was indeed bad theres no reason to change sensors.
@a2zautomasters862
@a2zautomasters862 2 года назад
Thank you for your question, I’ll try to make a video about O2 sensors and Cat operation because its a large topic, but for a quick tip. Most of time when you have a P0430 or P0420 cat efficiency code, it’s usually the Cat converter problem. A lot of manufacturers recommend changing the O2 sensors b4 and after that cat to get the full warranty, just in case they were damaged and might damage the new Cat.
