Thanks for your fast reply, Do you think more than likely is the Y-sustain Board? after having the tv on for about 10 minutes the Z-board gets a little bit warm (not very warm), but the y-board don't seem to get warm at all,however the fuse did not blow again still holding. thanks again

tampatec, the thin line /band you had in the first place im sure it wasnt solid, it almst looked fuzzy or grainy. Would i be correct?, and if so-would that point to it being the timing control board instead of the panel??

On a Samsung pn43d450a2d plasma TV do you what board will likely cause a couple of reddish blotches on the screen that flicker? The reddish blotches are most noticed when a white screen appears. I've changed the main power board, Y sustain board, X main board and the buffer board. I've not yet changed the logic board or the control board.

I have an older 42" Magnavox plasma tv. I believe the main card is bad. I have power to the screen and the picture works fine for the menu and startup. Unfortunately, when I connect any outside video, i.e.. cable or hdmi for dvd, the picture I get is mainly a green screen with scattered lines running randomly across the screen, like only part of the data is being processed. I've purchased 2 different main cards from 2 different fairly reputable sources and both give the same results, nothing, not even power to the on/off switch. The tv was free, so the cards I purchased were used and I'm wondering if I just ended up with 2 bad cards. Your input would be much appreciated.

Great video! Thanks for sharing with us. I have a Panasonic 52" plasma. The screen picture is split in the middle horizontally, creating two pictures inaffect top half and a bottom half, the top is shifted about a 1/4 of an inch to the right. So they don't quite sync. So now there are 2 pictures, the top half and the bottom half. Both of which are doing the exact same things. Starts when turned on and last for about 6 minutes. Top half has horizontal black scan looking lines, getting thicker as it get to the bottom of that half. The bottom half of the split picture is doing the exact same thing. As the top half. After about 6 minutes the lines start to disappear. Once they are completely gone the whole picture syncs up again, with no evidence of it even occuring. Set is 13 years old and this is the first trouble I've had with it, never taken apart, just had the vents cleaned from time to time. When I first bought it you could hear a fan cooling after you shut it down, lasted about 4 minutes after you shut it down. Haven't heard the fan in a while now that I've discovered this picture trouble. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

I enjoy your explanations. I have a Panasonic TC-P42x1 Plasma I picked up to learn repair. The Red light blinks once then keeps blinking. The trouble shooting guide says the problem lies in the main board . I have not found anything on this model for component level repair.

I got the same Problem with the green line on a 50" LG plasma. Switched the Tcon board but nothing changed. I could switch the Ribbon cables. One of them dont look that good. But could it be the buffer board too?

Thanks for video, I got Sony Bravia KLD 46HX923. Got line at bottom and double image. Tried disconnecting and reconnecting, also added tape as recommended by some, can see any damage but getting fuzzy double image. Any suggestions

Hi good video , I was given a 65" HI def GL 1920x1080 with some picture color problems. checked the big coils on the boards and all had broken solder connections, resoldered them now have crystal clear pic. that's what I call a cheap investment TV. But there is a funny display on the black background it shows red dots, in the lateral position and moving, looks like a analog data signal, like code to be precise but it only does this when hard line linked to my computer ( making the tv a second display ) More notably when I view a torrented movie I downloaded. I'm not quite sure if it is the TV or not or it's with the data signals from the cpu. but it only does this with black. All other colors are fine. What's your thought ?

Hi my lg 50PG3000-ZA model giving me alot of trouble NO picture NO sound just standby light ok turning on red to green but no pictures no light on the screen . Bought another Power supply tested all voltages okay have changed the 2 buffer boards and the Yboard still not working. Onto the logic board is standby green light (not blinking) but with the remote control is turning off/on . Now with this explanation what do you think is gonno be the problem? what about the thin horizontal black lines???..I hear its the ybuffer and or y sus boards. but many have replaced them and it didn't help...they were told it was a bad panel....any ideas I have 8 lines on mine and just ordered a panel...but could it be anything else???

I have a Samsung PN60f5350BFXZA. 60in Samsung Plasma. I took a lightening hit a few days ago through the Comcast cable. Everything connected to Comcast blew, my 60 in Plasma, A/R a second tv and my blueray. My question is about the 60 Plasma. It will not power up or anything. This was not a power surge, but was a charge through the HDMI cable. Any thoughs on what can be repaired or replaced inside. Hate to lose it. Art

I have the exact same plasma in this video. Mine has been turning itself on and off randomly ever since I got it, I thought it may be something to do with it being a plasma. Well about a month ago it turned itself on in the middle of the night.. It started changing channels and turning the volume up by itself. My problem is that the IR sensor is blinking like crazy, and the TV is automatically changing settings as if buttons are being pressed. The touch sensitive controls stopped working too.. Could this be an easy fix? And ideas?

Great video! My Samsung PN42A450P1DZXA has the single vertical line just like the one shown in your video. Finding your video confirms my suspicion that it's a logic control problem and not the plasma screen. TV works, I just have the single vertical line 3 inches from the right side. I'm anxious to try a new Logic Control Board and see it fixes the issue. Fingers crossed!

I've been using my Samsung PN42A450P1DZXA with that same vertical modulating line shown in the video. I tried replacing the control board as you showed, but the line remained. Everything else works as it should. I'm suspicious of the main board, finally found one, but haven't swapped it out. Recently, that single modulating green line had a visitor. Another single red vertical modulating line appeared about 4 inches towards center. And now it's Christmas and another green vertical modulating line appears at just about center. I still don't believe it could be the panel. Appreciate any input. I like this plasma too much to give it up! Thanks in advance TampaTec for any input.

I know this is a very old post, but my Samsung Plasma PN51F8500 has the same vertical line going down the center of the screen. You mention a CONTROL BOARD in your video, but I need more information than that. I'm not seeing anything on ShopJimmy that looks like the Control Board you replaced on your video. Panasonic TC-P50X1 Plamsa Tv turn's on and works fine for about 5 minutes and then starts to flicker until it starts to deteriorate to black however the Tv menu shows up fine when push on the remote??

Before when the tv had a green vertical line did the tv function normal otherwise such as menu display etc? I fix electronics for a rent to own company and a few of your videos have helped me along the way. Right now I have a 2012 450 model samsung 51" plasma with a similar vertical line but it does not turn off. It functions ok other than the line. I assumed a bad panel...I will try that board tomorrow thanks

LG Plasma 60Pz550.Started with a green horizontal line on top half of screen.Now when turned on screen backlight flickers and then stays on with a 1" long blue line in top left corner with no picture .I was able to pull up the volume on screen dail in the opposite bottom right corner but will get a ghost image of it on top half and the lower 4inches of screen.Stays on for a few minutes and then shuts off.Thanks.

@TampaTec I have a 2014 Samsung Plasma TV (PN51F5500) that has developed a one pixel wide solid steady green vertical line that goes from top to bottom on the right side of my screen. It does not flicker and it's there no matter the input, coax, hdmi, etc. I've done a bunch of troubleshooting from voltage checks, to putting pressure or wiggling on the screen flex cables, to inspecting and cleaning board to board ribbon cables, and nothing shows problems or makes any difference to the screen, except for one thing. When it comes to the two ribbon cables that go from the tcon board to the bottom buffer boards, if I disconnect the left side ribbon cable, so only the right side of the screen gets image, then the vertical line becomes a solid steady blue instead of green. Then when I reconnect the left cable and disconnect the right cable, so only the left side of the screen has image, instead of it being a flawless picture, it has four vertical lines in the picture. Three of those lines are only one pixel wide, and the fourth looks to be two or three pixels wide. The wider line is a purply/black color, two are black, and one is green. Those four vertical lines are closer to the center of the screen and are all spaced about an inch or two apart, but are not equally spaced. When I reconnect the right cable (so both tcon ribbon cables are connected), everything goes back to as it was before disconnecting any cables, with the screen being flawless except for that green vertical line on the right side of the screen. I should also mention that about a week ago the tv did a firmware update (2230->2240). I didn't notice any problems between then and now, other than maybe what I would call a bit of slow motion here and there when specifically playing PS4 games, but that very well may be due to just the console and not the tv. I did speak to Samsung about this and they say there's no problem with the firmware and that's definitely not the problem. They also confirmed that the firmware can only be updated and never reverted for some reason. If I assumed there's not possibly a bug in the updated firmware, then it would seem to me that the likely cause is either tied to the screen itself (including the IC chips on the directly soldered flex cables) or some fault with the main processor board (because the tcon is built into it on this tv). If it were the processor board, then it would cover both a potential hardware or firmware problem with it. The processor board is still costly enough that I can't just wing it and hope it works, but if I can be relatively sure that's the problem, if it is, I will spend the money to keep the plasma going. I'm curious as to what you think? I know a solid steady colored line typically means a screen issue, but I can get the line color to change by disconnecting one ribbon cable, plus the opposite side of the screen shows lines as well with the other ribbon cable disconnected. It makes me question whether or not it is the screen that is actually the problem. Hopefully your experience can give me better guidance as to how to move forward.

What if you have multiple vertical lines of various width that are about 4 inches wide and that fade in and out on the left side of television but has on black vertical line that is about 4 inch in width on the right side of the television.

Hi Tampatec, I Have a 42" Viore Plasma tv with no picture,no screen priming. the power light stays on for about 10-15 minutes before shutting down. all the voltages check out ok (vs,va,stby,24v to Inverter) the Y-sustain board had 1 blown fuse, I replaced but still no picture.

I have a PN64D8000 Sammy TV that has developed some verical lines about 4-5" from the left edge of the screen. The lines are colored and seem to be getting more numerous over time. The buttons and image aside from from these lines work beautifully and the power stays on as well. I replaced the logic board and nothing has changed. I am really hoping I can fix this as I cannot afford another TV in the meantime. Any other ideas as to what it could be? Thank you in advance!

What would red diagonal lines be? It Starts happening sometimes then the picture fades and protection kicks in. I use to leave it off for a few and it would recover. Now it’s doing it right away. Thanks for any response 🙏 God Bless.

I'm trying to repair my Samsung PS50B550T4 WXXC Already give shot to connector cleaning and also ordered new board from E bay (42/50UF1_LM) but I still have same issue - the picture has vertical colorful lines. They're same distance between (around 5 cm apart) and they has different colors (Like red, pink, yellow) Some of them are more visible and some of them are barely noticeable.
