it does work guys. iv done this method myself. do exactly what your shown in the video. simple. iv recovered 27 consoles in the past 2 weeks using the same method. if it doesnt work then your doing it wrong. double check everything INCLUDING the folders on your flash drive.
Thanks for this video man. Very well explained. I have a PS3 Slim 160GB, and I keep con getting the 8002f147, even after following this tutorial. My PS3 ask for firmware 4.11 or later, but I've tried it and it doesn't work. I think it needs 3.30 (where it used to be). Do you know where can I find it? I've looked all over internet with no luck. I had the same problem. Blue-ray disk broken, does not attract disk. My model is CECH-3004B. After some research i ound that the problem with the update crashing is because of the dead or faulty rom. update kept giving error just after 50% . tried 2/3 times via usb in save mode and nothing worked. So i finally after little more research opened the console, disconnected 3ribbon cables under power supply and the wide ribbon under the blue-ray disk. Note that you first have to remove psu, by removing the 2 screws ,to be able to disconnect blue-ray disk. Once BD removed, i let the console sit for few min with powercable plugged out. after few min Iplugged it back, press the powerbutton sequence to boot into safe mode just like before and the update completed 100% on first try and my ps3 is working again like it used to. Try it. Maybe it will work for you too. I panicked for nothing. Took me 15min worth of research and less then 30min to fix it. I was either lucky or it was a very easy fix. i will be jb the console now. Dont care to play from disk. hope this helps someone f
Be patient, that part takes a while. just leave it for about an hour or so. If it doesn't work try switching the usb port or redownloading the firmware.
i cant go to the service menu after doing the operation or long pressing the thing it wont take me to the factory reset thing it would show me previous update is canceleed attempting to update

5:52 I did that, and I tried to download cfw and broke it up and now whenever I try to start my ps it keeps installing and fail every single time I tried to format chnage the hdd still smas issue
I had a go at that too and bought a new cable also but it didn't work for me as the seller or previous owner clearly tried to replace the bluray drive without considering the fact that the bluray drive and motherboard are paired with each other.
It's not the bluray or the ribbon you can take the drive out and still use the ps3 this error is caused by a bad update. then begins the loop trying to re install the update try putting the console in safe mode or recover mode and hit restore system and that should fix this i have had this error a few times and this fixed it every time.
@skulllace go to amazon or ebay, then buy a 2.5 hdd usb caddy, basically this turns your ps3 hdd into a portable hdd to connect to the computer so you can format it
You should mention that this method only works on CFW and also will make you unable to play games requiring bluray disk inserted (through multiman, unless the emulator of it works now). A better method would be to purchase any of the several dongles available, I personally bought a Minimus Atmega32 for £4. Then with that, do the remarry process which you can find with a Google search.
8002F14E can easily be fixed even if you are stuck in a software update loop. I just got a CECHP01 model that was in this loop and of course it didn't have a blu ray drive in it which sucks but anyways what I did was used a pcb board from a broken bluray drive that was in a slim (CECH2001a) model. I had to use this kind of model pcb because the ribbon is one of the smaller ones rather than the really big ones that's in the older fat ps3 models. Anyways as soon as I hooked it up I managed to see a blue light which is a sign that the pcb is working correctly and it restarted the software update and wouldn't you know it I was able to get into the xmb! this system is actually still on OFW well atleast for now I am about to hook up my e3 flasher hehehe CFW HERE I COME!!!! Now just to let people know error code 8002F14E is a error because the blu ray drive isn't hooked up. I know this error very well cause on cfw you can even get this if you didn't disable the Blu-ray drive checks in the cfw you used. By default this check is always on and cant be disabled. This doesn't mean you cant get around it though!

In my case the clip was not broken, I just did not asseble it correctly: When I pushed the ribbon cable a bit under the clip and pushed it down with some ressistance - contact was establihed again and the error was gone
My fat PS3 ceche01 with error 8002f2f0 not start the system and all the recovery mode options of the same error, and option 4 says that the internal storage has not found what could be? Thanks

Yo I was on a cfw based on rogero and I went to put it to a different firmware and now my ps3 is in this update loop, If I wiped the Hardrive clean of everything on it would it be ok because I won't to be able to play games and RTM on them?
hey how would u format the hdd on pc. Do i imitate it first, then right click and select a random number to petition. last format? is that how u did yours?
if its one of the error codes above then probably, if its different error code i would recommend trying out my method, if it fails so what, if it works a ps3 which you could use or sell
Can you help me? I put the update on a flash drive and formatted the hard disk as you said. it works fine allowing me to enter recovery mode. However, when I press on update, it continues to read "checking....please wait" and never finds the update, thanks in advance
if your bluray drive still works then you should use an official update of cfw If you have no bluray drive or one that wasn't originally for your ps3 then you have to use the bypass firmware
Hey there, try reformatting the harddrive, then put it in the ps3 and go into recovery mode with a memory stick in the machine with the firmware on it and it should work
i have too a 8002F147 error code and... can i just create a ps3/update folders with PS3UPDAT.PUP inside on the computer and brig it tho the ps? or... must i format it?
Read the instructions i left and format your ps3, then try to go to recovery mode, it should work and you should also have a memory stick with a firmware file on it inside the ps3
you can do this by formatting the hard drive with the ps3. the problem is getting the firmware now with the bd bypass. i can't find a link with a working download of that firmware. please share it if you have it.
@kenneth3127 i think this is a widely spread problem because it also happened to my ps3 160gb slim so Sony should fix this up and i still got warranty on my ps3 so they can probably fix my ps3 what about you
my friend ps3 having this same issue, 8002F14E, however it doesn't have the blu ray drive inside the system. I also tried formatting the system and it stopped 75%. any solution?
i done everything you said installed ok, than the ps3 searched for update (decline or accept) i eccepted and it run through but still got that error code 8002F147. Any Idears what im doing wrong ?? Cheers in advance...
@mustafa092 you have to format the harddrive on windows then plug it back in and restart the update using recovery mode, Sorry for the late reply, iwas away at school for a few weeks
i did the last step, and my question is: Should the new CFW file be in PS3 folder or the new folder ? theres still a update in my PS3 folder on C drive.
Hey, so I took out the HDD after I got the restore loop error f14e, reformatted it, put it back in the ps3, plugged in a thumbdrive with the right update software and names, everything seemed ok as it reformatted it. It started updating again, got done with one, went on to a second one, and same error again -_-, is there a way I can just put the damn updated files into the firmware myself instead of letting it update automatically?

Ive updated the link but it only gives instructions on how to create your own Bluray bypass firmware. It is not difficult to do and since all the old links are dead, this is the only option
well i have a few Q's. I tried to put a CFW on my os3 wich failed and now i get into this update loop. can i fix it by doing this? and my ps3 is a PAL system (europe gets fucked by gaming industry) and i dont know if the cfw was ment for ntsc. does this matter? if you say its coompletely ruined i dont care beceause i have 3 more ps3's :) (just explorin')
@hacker536 Hello there. I think the error code comes from having a non-working or no bluray drive. However if you do have a blu ray the blu ray bypass should work the same as the official one

I "fixed" my broken ribbon cable by using cardboard like this guy: watch?v=d0DdcT58UZM Now my PS3 is working, it took me a few tries but I didn't need to format the HDD, which is what I was going to try next.
Can someone help me? When i go to recovery mode and choose "system update" then it loads it 100% from the usb stick and the the screen goes black but the ps3 is still on... Please some one help me with this im getis really frustrated
