Had an issue with my premier 1 electric fence grounding out. After troubleshooting it, this is how I fixed it.
Pretty simple fix but easy to overlook. Hope this can help someone else out and keep the chickens safe.

Brilliant! I spent 40 minutes trying to track down the cause of my grounding issue before resorting to the Googles. This fixed my problem, thank you so much for making this video.

My premier fence also showed a2.5 on the meter. Watched this video and both my end posts had the same problem bottom wire had slipped down and ground out on the spike. Moved wire back to proper spot and now have a 8.0 on the meter thank you so much for this tip my 43 meat birds are now safe again

Wow... excellent tip! I never thought to look at the end posts to see if the hot wires had slipped down. WE also need better grounding connection clips.

I can't thank you enough for this video. I was growing frustrated with my fencing never getting a good shock the past month or so....little did I know this was the problem. All fixed now, I really appreciate it!

Yikes! I needed this video at 1 a.m., when I found the Premier 1 fencing around my coop was sparking in the night! I considered panic, but recalled seeing this video some time ago. So glad you did this. Now, I can sleep well! Thanks!

That was my exact grounding issue. Thanks a million for pointing that out. Just wish I had seen this before replacing all the connecting wires and installing a new ground rod. Oh, well.

Good tip! I love our Premier 1 Fencing as well (going on two years using it for pigs) but you do need to keep an eye on things like that. Hasn't happened often to me and it is really nice you can adjust the bottom strands height so you can have it low for when the animals are small and then adjust it up a bit when the animals are bigger. FWIW, my fencing did keep a pack of coyotes out one night. I suddenly heard painful yipping around 11:30pm and by the time I made it out there with a firearm the coyotes were well on their way leaving the area. Spooked my pigs but the fence (and they!) were fine.

The manufacturer should be able to come up with a fix for that. Maybe some Goop or similar adhesive will work?

Thanks so much for this video!!! I had this exact problem, and it was puzzling me for weeks until I found your video. All I had to do was slide the conductor back over the insulator and I jumped back to 8k volts. Glad it was so easy in the end. :)

Thank you so much for posting this! We just added two new dairy goats and while initially they were hesitant of the shock, they eventually discovered the low shock wasn't too bad and escaped (our other goats respect the fence itself and don't even really need it charged). I needed higher voltage and couldn't figure out why i wasn't getting it. Turns out this was the issue.

A simple fix on your end poles is place to zip ties at the bottoms, the zip tie catch grips protrude enough to keep your bottom stand loop from going down and touching the metal stake post.

Awesome looking garden in the background. Ours has been gone for several months now due to the heat. Man i cant wait till i can sleep with the windows open again. Its just to hot right now. Good point on the fence ive had that same issue looks like they would fix it where it wouldnt slide down beyond a certian point. I would love to try the poultry net with our chickens to see how it would do. We only have the one for larger animals.

We love using for our chickens. The only issue we have is using it with clicks and young chickens in general. They seem to slip through and not care.

It looks like it happens when your boot pushes down the spike. I was waiting for it to happen when you put it back in the ground. I would secure that bottom loop with some electrical tape, then you won't have to worry about it. Great short video!!

Sleeping with the windows open? Gotta love it. Maybe by the end of October or first of November here in Central Mississippi. Good info on the fence. Most of the time if I have a problem with my fence, it’s a ground problem. Have you picked that corn yet? Tim @ Hidden Meadow Farm

Great tip... Maybe if you Cris crossed a couple of wire ties at the bottom that would stop it

I'm definitely going to try this out. My fence arcs badly sometimes. If I move the black clip alomg the bottom,it stops. Should the fence always make a clicking/poppimg sound? I like my fence. I want to love it.

I have 2 poultry fences from Premier1, and only one of them had this problem, but it had it at both ends. It completely ruins the fence, and I bet a lot of people don't even notice it. Premier1 should have a QA check for this issue and not let fences ship like this.
