Howdy! My name is Camille and I have a passion for gentling wild mustangs. Wild horses and burros are overpopulated in the western United States, so to keep population numbers from rising, the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) periodically gathers wild mustang and offers them for adoption to eligible homes. I train mustangs to make them suitable for domestic lives and to show the world how amazing these underdogs can be. Subscribe to follow along with my mustang journey!

I don't usually comment on videos and adore your work with all your horses but he seems slightly lame on his front left. The way his head drops in the trot when he presses down on his front left leg. Again hope he feels better soon and best of luck for you both :)

Newer viewer, and I subscribed because I can already tell you know your stuff. Okay, here's what I see, my 40+ years of horses, all breeds, both English and Western. Horse looks sound at walk, maybe stiff left inside at trot, minimal though. Left lope is very evident horse resistant to comfortably moving out. I know you've mentioned a vet cleared him, but sometimes a vet can't catch everything. It looks like this horse just might need a good equine chiropractor to adjust him. He moves very well to the right and if it was something seriously wrong bone wise, it would be more obvious. He finally did find the left lead, and his kickouts didn't look like they were because of habit, more like pain. Honestly he just looks slightly stiff and doesn't have the relaxation going on the left side, head extremely high, etc. If the owner wants to get this horse right, a couple chiropractor visits, (cheaper than vet, x-rays, nerve blocks, joint injections) I think it would do this horse wonders. Nice training though..

@@CamillesMustangs That's great to hear, I figured you probably would seek one, but some horse people aren't familiar with them. Gee, I have OTTB's that had chiropractors, massage therapists, and hydro treatments in huge pools. Horses are like pro athletes, they sometimes need a bit extra.. Good luck with him, I'm sure you'll fix the issue!

Roy is my horse and he was cleared for his restart from his team of doctors at Texas equine… we trust his doctors and our trainer he also has a Dutch chiro team That all my horses receive care from when they travel from the Netherlands to the UAE… he receives routine specialized barefoot trims to his anatomy and all my horses receive routine vet check ups here in the UAE… for what he loves to do, the vets are completely comfortable (USA & UAE licensed vets) in supporting his quality of life care and activity level… 😊

I found a barefoot trimmers, did more harm than good on my horse. Not impressed. He’s flat footed and always footsore until I found a better trimmer. And some flat footed or tender soled horses just need to wear shoes or boots cuz they are wussies.

Hey Camille, I like your channel and watching you train horses! Thank you for sharing all that footage with us and giving us the opportunity to learn about your perspective/ideas on horse training. I want to share with you what I am seeing in this video, please dont take offense in it. This is my perspective on what I see in the video. Please get that horse checked up once again because he is clearly lame. You asking him to pick up the left lead for the lope seems to be a problem for him which is why he is bucking. To me it doesnt look like he is naughty or unwilling but rather he is saying "hey I am in pain and do not want to put that weight on my leg".
@juliagray207
@juliagray207 2 года назад
Agreed. Everything about that horse's body language screams "pain" to me. Could be arthritis, tendon issues, navic, also looks uncomfortable along the back--could have KS. Obviously it is impossible to know without imaging and a thorough work up, which I would want to do before asking him to go into training. But if it is a physical issue, no amount of training is going to correct it, it may just get him to shut down and express less pain responses.

Agreed. I really like your video's and I think you do very good work with horses and people, so this is definitely not a comment to take you down. However I'd definitely ask another vet for a second opinion in this case. Horse is obviously lame and shows lots of discomfort, tail switching (lots of it..), kicking, braced through his whole body... all of this clearly shows pain and I am surprised he got cleared by a vet. Maybe without weight on his back he shows less discomfort and a vet might have overlooked the issue. If the vet cleared him while he was ridden and he was moving and behaving the way he does in this video, I'd ask another vet to check him. I've had it happen several times, that I felt a horse had physical issues and had it cleared by one vet, then asked for a second opinion of another vet (cause it didn't feel right), then the other vet didn't clear the horse at all. Vets are just humans and can make mistakes or oversee issues (like everyone). Anyways, good luck and keep up the good work!

Great Job!!! I love your videos. It looks like to me, I could be wrong, but he was limping a bit on the one lead at the trot, maybe that is why he is kicking out at the lope? My horse did this once, because he didn't want to put the pressure on his one side. It look like he was bobbing on the one side. Left lead, he gets sticky and kicks out, maybe arthritis?? Because he seam very responsive on the right and going great with you otherwise.

If you find you are still having issues down the road, I just wanted to put Wobblers on your radar for this horse. He is showing neurological signs when he turns in circles as well as other movements. Sadly my OTTB was found to be a wobbler after many different vet visits (most vets said foot sore or saw nothing wrong). He was never 'lame' but failed an in-depth neurological exam with movements just like Roy 😢

The vet may have cleared him and seen him sound at the time of exam, but according to this video, he is definitely off. He is trotting, very stiff and bobbing his head. It’s quite obvious he is hurting. It may have been something that happened since the vet check or a flare up or whatever…. Please show this to your vet. It could be something as simple as a stone bruise. Or if his horse has a history of lameness, maybe a flareup.

This horse is lame. Not just footsore but actually lame, I’m not riding him, so I don’t know but he really seems like he’s trying to do what you want. Some horses don’t tolerate pain like others do and it comes out in cranky behaviors. I think he’d become a lot more willing once he’s feeling better.

The more I watch this the worse it gets. This horse is LAME. He's off in his hind for sure, and probably even the front, and you're forcing him into a trot and canter, and ignoring all the signs of his discomfort. He literally is unsound. Completely ignorant to the fact that he can't physically perform what you're asking, and you only see improvement because he's just pushing through his discomfort. Blows my mind that you think this is him misbehaving, when it's so clearly discomfort.
