Sup dude, I follow this guy on his Ram channel. "He is by far the best Flip-Flop wearing mechanic on the west coast" Lol. Keep up the great videos dude!!
Sadly it wont change much, i put jba shorties on a ram once and ran the same time. you’ll get more on the top end if you change to an carb style air cleaner, 5.9s fall on their ass after 4k, the air cleaner will help your truck keep pulling all the way to redline
I have a 97 dakota slt 4x4 V8 short bed single cab. Its a very fun truck to drive. Also the awd 01 durango rt.love some older dodge trucks! I need to fix a leak on my dakota passenger side gotta do the same thing its stock manifolds though.
😮great information I have to change my gaskets in my 3.9v6 on passenger side which is like the 5.9 just little brother. 5.9 and 3.9v6 shares engine parts👍 Also changed my water pump looked original or previous owner Used Copper ultra rtv on the water pump by itself😑 Is copper safe on water pumps? Have you ever changed the freeze plug before. Reason I asked I just replaced my water pump thermostat with housing and truck still leaking coolant as I add coolant in upper radiator hose. Im thinking its the hose to thermostat because autozone sold me a hose thats like half inch too short. With some finesse 💪&cursing stretched hose to got it to fit. Ended up not using oe spring clamp at thermostat went with newer hose clamp. My said it looks like the freeze plug. He told just change them all and change both valve cover gaskets and passenger side manifold gasket. There was little seepage from thermostat. Coolant leaking from a bolt near the crank next water pump. The new water pump isnt leaking but coming from somewhere else. I think its that thermostat again from new hose but he says no its not thermostat.
I have the exact dodge but mines a 2000 SLT. I've been watching every video and doing what you did. My headers were glowing red so u bought new manifold gaskets and they still leaked so I bought the reflex they were cheaper and no leak! But still they glow intermittently enough to burn my wires and a hoke in the bottom of my air filter box.:(
Love the channel man it's good stuff. I always liked these trucks so when I saw you get one for cheap I figured I could too. Found one for cheap that had some issues like a bad water pump and exhaust leaks. Nothing I cant handled. Turns out the truck I got has been around the block and back. Spent a few years in the wrong hands I'm thinking also. The headers on this thing have been rubbing the control arm for some time now. They didn't even bother to put the bolt in the collector that is on that side. Trying to decide what it's worth to fix. Used manifolds for now or just clearance the header with a hammer? I need to do all the exhaust gaskets anyway because it leaks into the cab pretty bad right now. I've never had headers on a vehicle before so is that bad shaping them around things or will they most likely break before I get the clearance ? And I'm only asking because I see you reply alot. Thanks man!!
Stupid question but honestly dont know. When you installed the headers did you have to tune the truck at all or are they a direct replacement not requiring any tuning? I have a 12 mustang GT with headers and that required a full exhaust tune (due to being first mod) and just got a 98 Ram 1500 5.2L and it is in need of new manifolds but wouldnt mind going with the gibsons but trying to get all my ducks in a row before pulling the trigger. Thanks!
