Thank you so much! I was told when the faucet was installed that the faucet could become damaged if I removed the water restrictor. After years of living with the low flow my wife expressed her frustration about it for probably the hundredth time. So I found your video. It took two minutes to remove the restrictor and no the faucet was not damaged by removing the water restrictor. Shame on me for listening to a random person and living with this for years. And what a difference in the flow. The water is now flowing beautifully. Thanks again!
We have been using this faucet for over a year, and we almost called a plumber to fix our low flow. Not only did I find the low flow reducer, I found calcium and gunk on the reducer! We went from 15% max flow, to blasting water pressure! Thank you so much, for taking the time to do this video.
I am 67 years old. My mother, who is 92 years old, and I have been living with low water pressure for months. We have looked at other RU-vid channels regarding low water pressure, but have had no luck fixing our faucet, until your youtube channel. We both have no experience in fixing anything. We also have the same Moen faucet. In no time, maybe 3 minutes, we fixed it. Thank you. We sure learned from your instructions, even pulling out the tube while working on it.
Omg. Same! I was worried about the complexities of replacing my ikea faucet. Same general concept as this. Unscrewed the spray head, took out the little green regulator, BAM! I've been living with this for 5+ years. 90 seconds later, fixed!!
Good job, I just purchased a new $300+ Kohler pull down kitchen faucet and have already removed the JOKE water restrictor on it before I installed it. I would like to add that on the newer faucets especially the pull downs the Restrictor is not located in the spray head like the one shown above, they have moved them to whats known as the Mixing/Check Valve which is located under the sink on the line that goes to the spray head. To remove and inspect it "Turn Off Both" the Hot & Cold water, then locate the Check Valve on the Braided Spray Head line, then unscrew it using two wrenches, once you have it uncoupled you will see ether a Gray or Blue plastic Disk with Little Holes in it which is the Water Restrictor, using a small pin or tweezers remove the restrictor, then reassemble the valve, BUT DO NOT FORGET to reinsert the Restrictor, because if you don't you will have ""Full Unrestricted Water Flow"" out of your faucet, OR you can enlarge the TINY Holes in the Plastic Disk by using a Drill Bit and then replace it. These restrictors are also installed on Shower Heads, so if your suffering from low water coming out of your shower you can unscrew the Head and look for the dreaded Gray or Blue disk with the little Restricting holes in them and follow the same instructions.
After 2 months of low water pressure compared to the previous Moen faucet, I did your solution, and it worked !!!!!!! Thanks for posting..........You are the man !!!!!!!!!
Normally I sort thru these silly issues without to much trouble. Nowadays I rely more on the RU-vid videos to solve problems. This video was one that proves how simple things can be sometimes. Cheers.
I could not for the life of me figure out how to separate the handle from the cord in hopes of finding the aerator. Your video was ON POINT! Thank you so much for showing me how to do it. I had a kinked up rubber ring that I removed and the water pressure is much better now...and no leaks! Thanks again!
I recommend NOT to remove the restrictor but improve it. On top of the restrictor is a small screen that catches crud that will eventually clog the spray head. Moen part number 141025 is a white 2.2gpm restrictor that’s a 50% increase over the original 1.5gpm black restrictor. The replacement screen/restrictor was going to take ~1 week to arrive if ordered online so I used a toothpick to pop out the small screen that sits on top of the restrictor and then used a drill bit to determine the diameter of the 3 holes in the restrictor, used a drill bit double the diameter of the holes and drilled them out, reinstalled the screen and o-ring, and then reinstalled the restrictor/screen. I considered simply adding 2 or 3 additional holes the same size instead of enlarging the holes that were already there but decided to enlarge the 3 holes that were there instead.
Whoa! THANK YOU. I just installed that exact model of Moen faucet and the flow is pathetic. I was very careful to run it with just the hose first, to flush the valves and lines out before attaching the handpiece, but it made no difference. This is a great fix. I actually removed that small plastic insert and drilled those 3 holes out a lot larger, and then put the part back in. If you remove that whole insert and just toss it, you lose the screen there and that will let junk get up into the handle, which can cause clogs nearer the head where it will be hard to clean.
i have the exact model installed new 20 months ago. The pressure wasn't strong but I thought that was it . 3 days ago, the water pressure was even lower , i googled a lot and i found this video. Now not only did I solve the recent low pressure, I even got bigger flow then what it used to be! Thank you
Thank you! We were ready to buy another new faucet, but learned that ALL new faucets come with a restrictor to save water. Your video saved us a lot of money! Well done!
Thank you so much for this! I've been saying for ages that our water pressure is much lower than it used to be. I heard about water pressure regulation, searched RU-vid, and found this video. It helped me fix everything in two minutes flat!
I love you! What would we do without youtube! We are having some remodeling done, and I remove these from the shower and facets before the installation guy comes. (Thanks to videos like these) My husband is none the wiser, but wonders why there is so much water pressure. :-) I agree with others; I leave the water on longer when the pressure is low. I am very aware of water conservation and don't waste water. We have a bucket in our shower to collect water as it is heating up. These devices are not the solution in my opinion. Thanks for the video!
I agree. If low water pressure is appropriate for the task, I can just not raise the handle as far. Otherwise, if I want more water pressure, this gives me the option.
This worked for my Moen Edwyn kitchen faucet. The low water pressure made it very difficult to rinse debris out of my deep sink. Thank you for the video!
thank you a million times over.. brand new $250 Moen Brantford Oil-rubbed Bronze Kitchen Faucet & I was miserable with it. took the adapter out (which was full of stuff btw) and now it will squirt into the dining room
This was awesome!!! The water completely stopped coming out of my faucet, and now I know that the problem wasn't anywhere but the faucet head. Thank you!!
Not only did you help me get better water pressure but it fixed the water leak at the handle from trying to shove all that water thru them 3 little holes .
I was googling for the reason my brand new faucet had flow problems. This video turned up. Thank you so much for posting! I did exactly as instructed (including accidentally letting the hose slip down into the faucet, LoL) and now I've actually got enough water to fill my coffee maker in under 2 minutes, do dishes, or anything.
Thank you for your video, our maintenance in the building replaced our faucet and was very poor pressure and “couldn’t figure out why” so I came on here and your video helped fix my issue!
Hey Jeff - it's Gary - the installer. Just got your message and researched this video. Glad you're back in business, and I learned something new today !
@@jungleheat hey Gary, I couldn’t believe it was the first video that came up. Then I couldn’t believe it actually worked. I was so glad that you didn’t have to come back, especially if it was something simple that took me 2 minutes.
Can’t thank you enough! Was thinking cartridge was bad and had trouble removing it when I found this, screen full of junk from well and galvanized pipes, works better than new!
Thanks for this video and help! I was so desperate for the lower water preasure that I was even thinking on hire a plumber to get him changing the pipe or installing a new kitchen faucet so definitely you saved me a lot of money! 👍
Thanks for posting this... saved me from poking through all the connections etc. to find the restrictor. I found that the restrictor also keeps the backflow preventer seated, so I drilled it out to keep it as a spacer. When the drill bit popped through it also pushed the plastic screen out.. I was able to pop the screen back in, which should help keep debris out of the faucet head. Probably could have pushed the screen out before drilling by pushing a small drill bit through the little holes, but I thought it was all one molding.
Thank you for your insight information . I have just put new faucet and had low water pressure. tried everything noting worked, came across your video and tried your method. Worked perfectly. just you have to find where your water low pressure rubber is. thanks a mill bro
Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge. My faucet is from American Standard, but your advice helped regardless. Some black plastic pieces kept prevented the water from flowing out properly. Your video helped me discover the problem and fix it.
You may be a lifesaver. We just had to change out our faucet and had this exact same thing happen. The sprayer function is worthless the pressure is so low I doubt it's more than half what the old faucet was. I'm going to show this to my husband!
Thank you so much for making this video. My wife has been nagging me for almost two years about low water pressure in kitchen. I was about to purchase a new Moen today but you saved me the time and trouble. Cheers!!!!
Thanks for posting! We are on a well and generally have lower water pressure. When we had this faucet installed the water pressure was reduced to a very low volume. Lived with that for almost a year when I ran across your posting. Five minutes later - the water pressure was just outstanding! Thanks again! 👍 Moen really should put some type of notice in their documentation.
Wow! That's was so simple! my husband and I replaced ours about a month ago and I've been miserable with the low pressure. You helped me fix this is ONE minute! Thank you!
Thanks dude. Did a search on this and your video came up. I have the same exact model and it was just as simple as you showed. I put the O ring back in and now works almost as good as my 20 year old faucet that it replaced. Sweet, wife is happy too
This definitely made an improvement in the water pressure in my new Moen pull-down Annabelle faucet. I was considering getting a plumber to change the pex water line to 3/4"... now I don't have to. Thanks ever so much for the clear and concise video!! You ROCK!!
At first I was just trying to figure out how to take the faucet apart (it was too tight!!!), but this video turned out even more helpful than I first thought! Thank you, I was thinking it was a plumbing issue that couldn’t be fixed. So happy!
Thank you for posting this video! My fairly new Moen faucet was suffering low pressure for several weeks. Thanks to your video, I simply unscrewed the faucet head (I was about to unwisely use a wrench) and discovered some debris that was clogging the flow of water! In 2 minutes I managed to fix the issue! Now the faucet is back to normal! :)
Great Video! I have a different Moen model. My flow was extremely low. I removed the debris and the reducer and problem solved.Wife stopped complaining (about that issue) :P
Thank you for sharing this! I just got a new MOEN faucet and immediately noticed the pressure difference, despite it having a “power clean” feature. It was so easy to remove and improved our pressure significantly! Thanks!!
Thank you!!! I wasted so much time replacing my new faucet, thinking it was a pressure problem from my water main in my house. Your advise worked. You rock!!
Thanks for this tip. I'm handy myself, but didn't think of REMOVING the restrictor instead of just replacing it. This remedy worked for my older Kohler faucet, and gave us a strong efficient spray, not the loopy barely one. Thanks again.
Thank you so much! Have a very high end 2016 Moen faucet that aggravated to no end with the low water pressure. This fix took less than a minute and I'm dancing with joy!
Thanks! Great tip that I also do at every new shower I install. HATE "water savers"!!! They waste a lot of water and time! I looked in the head of our new Essie pull-out faucet but thought it looked like one solid peice! Your tip gave me the confidence to pop that little plastic devil out of there!
OMG......!!!!! Done, done and done. Honestly, thank you so much. Such a simple fix to a problem we'd been encountering for a long time. Even went so far as to change our pressure regulator on the pressure tank. Dang. Water fight tonight!!
Thank you. I have the same model and your solution fixed my problem. What is strange, however, prior to using your solution the initially acceptable flow decreased gradually over a 2-3 months. In any case, thanks again for the solution.
Thanks for the great tip. I'd been suffering with the same model Moen for nearly a year. Fixed now. (Also not convinced these "water-saving" reducers save any water as we had to run it twice as long to clean things up and to get hot water to the faucet.)
I recommend you reinstall the restrictor but improve it because there’s a small screen on top of the Moen restrictor that catches crud that will eventually clog the head. Moen part number 141025 is a white 2.2gpm restrictor that’s ~50% increase over the factory 1.5gpm black restrictor. The replacement screen/restrictor was going to take ~1 week to arrive if ordered online so I used a toothpick to pop out the screen that sits on top of the restrictor and used a drill bit to enlarge the 3 holes in the original restrictor, reinstalled the screen and o-ring, and then reinstalled the restrictor/screen.
Thanks, my sink went slow after turning on my sprinklers outside, probably dislodged some rust on the well and it ended up in my kitchen sink. Fixed now thanks
Dude! You totally solved my problem. i just recently had a new Moen faucet installed and the flow was horrible. Did exactly what you indicated (I have a single handle model) and it now works perfectly! Thanks for your helpful video!! Btw - my flow regulator thingee had debris in it.. I just removed the whole damn thing and now it's perfect! Thanks again!!
I recommend you reinstall the restrictor but improve it because there’s a small screen on top of the Moen restrictor that catches crud that will eventually clog the head. Moen part number 141025 is a white 2.2gpm restrictor that’s ~50% increase over the factory 1.5gpm black restrictor. The head will take a long time to clog because it's much larger than the in-line restrictor/screen. Thanks for this... probably saved me $80! So easy and effective. I happened to have bought the exact same Moen model and was sitting waiting for the help-line to pickup and googled the problem. You popped up! Cheers, Paul [Victoria BC}
Thanks for the video, my restriction piece was actually clogged with small pieces of rubber after a recent water main break. Removed the restriction device and now awesome volume.
You can also replace the existing 1.5 GPM filter/flow limiter with a Moen Replacement part no 141025. That's a 2.2 GPM filter, which gives you the increased flow without sacrificing the filter function.
THANK YOU! We have been struggling for months with our water pressure on our Moen faucet and after watching your video, I was able to discover the problem. Ours had a filter in it that had debris ( I did not see a reducer, so I removed nothing ) and cleaned it and VOILA! Thanks again~:0)
Great Video, i just installed a Moen fawcett, same type, but diff model. Water flow was terrible, I opened up the head and found a piece of teflon tape blocking the holes. I removed the tape, put it back together, and Wah-lah! worked great. Thanks again, i shouldve checked it first. SMH!
The low pressure from my new Moen Brecklyn faucet (very similar to your Moen Banbury) was disappointing and less than a week after installation it had already decreased even more. I was ecstatic when I came across your video and the easy fix you shared. I did notice a good amount of debris had already collected in the restrictor/screen which I decided to just leave out completely as you suggested rather than cleaning and replacing it. I put the o-ring back in though and there are no leaks after screwing the hose back into the faucet head. This made quite a difference in the water pressure! Only time will tell if the accumulation of debris will reoccur as quickly as it did before removing the restrictor. In any event, thank you very much for your helpful video!
Wow. Thanks. I now have enough pressure to do dishes properly. I did find that after removing the faucet and turning the water on, i had amazing water pressure- enough to wash my small pet! Don't need that all the time but thought I would share.
thank you so much. I happen to have to same faucet and even soaked the head in vinegar and in my mind it was better but probably wasn't. Great video. You saved me $44.95 for a new head.
Oh man, thank you for this video! I was so annoyed with the water pressure of my new moen faucet and this was a super easy fix. Now I can actually clean dishes! Thank you!
Thanks, I bought a new, less expensive Moen faucet, and the water pressure kind of lagged. I simply unscrewed the aerator and pulled out the small green screen covering the water restrictor, and screwed the aerator back on. The flow is now much better.
Awesome I was worried something was wrong with our well pump. 10 Seconds flat it is fixed and the garbage disposal is no longer struggling from lack of water volume
wow, thanks alot man! i have the same faucet, and you totally saved me from spending a bunch of money. very straightforward fix, and my faucet works better than ever!
thank you, thank you, thank you!!!! there are no words to express the joy we now have with our new pressure...no pun intended. research is important thanks for the info.
Thank you! You just saved me so much money and this is actually my first RU-vid comment ever. Haha. Thanks and thanks and thanks again! What you’re doing matters!!
Thank you for your video! I do not have a Mohen Kitchen Sink but it helpef me a great deal to know what was wrong with my new kitchen sink. Thanks a lot from one happy kitchen sink person.
Not sure if it's been mentioned previously, BUT, there is a small screen that is in the flow reduction piece. You can also remove that screen, widen the holes in the reducer, and reinstall the screen to keep debris out of the faucet head and clogging up the spray ports etc.
