Talk about spooky Crys; I've just been looking at moulding putty for a small chunk of drawer beading. Moulding Putty etc, is so expensive using wood filler with hardener and my hot glue gun will be so cost effective. Crys not only are you a brilliant artist and teacher; you are always so practical too; and create the less expensive fix for everyone. So impressed and thank you so much 🥰😊

At last a video with something that I have on hand. Silicone putty is not easily come by in our country. Thank you!😊 we don't have bondo in our country but we do have Pratley Putty which is a proudly South African product that went to the moon! It also doesnt smell at all, which is a bonus!

you can even do small sections at a time if you are more comfortable, but Bondo is really hard so I think it will work :)

Brilliant fix! I've used automotive Bondo on cars and before it completely hardens I use a rasp or file to shape or remove any unwanted excess. Much like grating cheese lol.

Yes!!! Lol car bondo is what I always used but the have a wood bondo but let’s be honest they are all awesome!!

Brilliant! I was planning to try this very technique on a 100 year old vanity with two pieces of missing trim, and then thankfully found both pieces in a baggie inside a drawer! Still haven’t had a chance to try this...

Pure GENIUS! I have never used it for this process, but boy oh boy that's awesome. Do you think hot glue can be used as an applique on furniture to add some interest if it needs a little something or would it peel off too easily? Does the bondo still smell once it dries?

Bondo will start losing the smell the harder it gets and once you go over it with paint you won't smell it anymore :) Yes you can use hot glue for appliqués as well I have done it, if they are too stiff you can just put them in hot water or use a heat gun to heat them, also you can use quick and thick to adhere :)

Awesome idea. Have you ever used sculpey . Its a white clay you shape and bake. Its so hard that you can drill it , sand it. I ask cuz I have to do the same kind of repair on a bit larger spot. Just wondering which is better. Oh sculpey is at Walmart $4-5.

This is so helpful, thank you! I am ready to buy a glue gun as I am all new to this. Is the full-size glue gun better than the mini and do you feel there is a better quality glue gun? I don't have any Dixie Bell waxes yet but I have mineral oil which is what pledge is made out of. So I am thinking it should work, or so I hope. I am even cheaper than you are. lol

I have a beautiful old dresser and half of the trim on bottom is missing as well as back legs. Would this work for such a much bigger piece of trim and for legs or what would you suggest on a budget ? I was going to pay someone to cut a similar piece of trim and make new legs but so time consuming and costly.

On this same theme, I bought a vintage nursery wardrobe from Marketplace, regrettably I didn’t do a through check of the condition until I had it home, whereupon I discovered a couple of broken drawer fronts. Would you suppose Bondo, (or similar, I'm in Australia) would be a strong enough fix?

Hi, I’m in Aus to. Yes a two part product such as Bondo works great for edges etc that may get knocked a bit. It is easy to sand/file to shape as well.
