Great video. Had that very problem today and already had the zinsser peel stop at home, but used 123 instead. Will be taking the peeling parts back further and using the peel stop zinsser instead.

I used Peel Stop on my shower wall that was peeling. I applied 2 coats of Peel Stop and let dry overnight. Then wiped the wall surface with dry microfiber cloth and painted using sherwin-williams paint. I was a little disappointed because the paint did not seem to stick very well to the peel stop. I was told you dont need primer for applying latex to it. Anyway, when pulling the tape off the shower molding, it peeled the paint away in a couple of spots. Didn't expect that to happen. But I hope the wall will not peel in the future after working on it a day and a half. By the way, I did the entire wall surface with 220 medium grip sand sponge and clean all debris, before applying Peel Stop. Hope this wall stays fixed!!

How coincidental .... l have this issue and spent all afternoon deep down in the rabbit hole looking at lots of other YT vids that were so more complex and tbh I was having second thoughts of doing it myself. Got the same problem on my artex ceiling. The paint roller seems to have pulled some of it off in a large patch. Although it's recommended not to sand or drill my ceiling, i can atleast try your other methods.

Great video. Is it worth using this on the entire wall over the paint or only the patchy areas? Can you explain why this peeling happens if mist coat was applied correctly?

Thankyou very much, the most likely cause of the problem is that the mist cost wasent watered down enough. I only use the peel stop were needed.

Hi, thank you for the video! We have condensation on the window and around it, so it's wet. Nowadays we don't use the heating so it's dried now, and the paint is peeling, flaking off.. I am thinking to use zinsser mould and water resistant paint. But before what do you advise? Should I use the anti peeling layer too? What about the fine filler? Nay of those which will take wet surfaces if we have the issue again? Or should I try which will work good when it's condensation again? Thanks so much

It might need doing yearly, if the condensation happens every year. Now its dry I would scrape, sand then a couple of coats peel stop, then 2 coats of zinsser bin, to obliterate any water marks, then a fine fill if needed, then sand and give 2 coats of paint of your choice. Then keep an eye on it next winter to see how it holds up.

Hi Steve, loved your video, i need advice, just had damp proof done, 1 meter high new plaster and like the fool i am forgot to do a mist coat & rolled on a thin layer of matt emulsion as an undercoat..its not flakey at the moment as ive only just done it. How do i remedy this? Can i use Peel Stop over the emulsion then start over?

You might get away with it, all you can do is carry on and hope for the best, see what happens with it over time . if it starts peeling then deal with it. If you need to sand inbetween coats dont rough the paint up, just lightly sand, you dont want to tear the paint up and create edges that might start to lift the paint, hope that makes sense, message me if you have any problems.

Can I paint the peel stop straight on to vinyl silk paint? The silk paint peels off but the paint under makes my paint peel and bubble so wondered if I can get away with sealing without scraping first?

If the paint under the vinyl silk causing the problem then you will need to scrape. just be care not to scrape of more than needed. follow the video and you should be fine.

yes indeed.just fill cleanly, then sand gently, so you dont damage the plasterboard.

Hi, can I ask, do you need to add fine filler after the peel stop? can you not just paint a layer to match up to the other paint, before adding another coat? Why use the peel stop if you are going to plaster over it anyway?

You can just paint, but there may be a ridge from were paint has been scrapped, you need to use peel stop to help stick edges down filler wont stick edges down.

Neat paint, when its been fine filled if you are painting new plaster or heavy filling then i will water the paint down. the peelstop does a good job of sealing areas of bare plaster and heavy bits of filling aswell.

What about for smallers patches of peeling, is the filling still required? I thought maybe scraping, sanding then primer+paint would be enough. Is the filler a must-do for the perfect finish? Thanks
