window-replacem... Rob at Markey Home Remodeling demonstrates the easy correct way to fix a double hung vinyl window that popped out of its frame or chute.
That was a wonderful demonstration. It would be even better if you could give us a close up of how the shoe "looks" especially after it's been properly oriented.
A neighbor of mine found herself with this exact same situation. Calling me in a panic hoping I could fix the problem, so there I was without any ideas myself. We’re both seniors and whenever I have questions and need help, Utube is my go to. My friend didn’t think I had a prayer let alone finding the solution. After typing in a general description, your video popped up first. Your instructions are on point, and I had her window back in and working in a minute, right after this video played out. Thanks for sharing your knowledge! My friend was amazed, and I looked like a hero and a “Mrs knowitall”!!
I followed your instructions for putting the window in, but the pin somehow does not engage into the shoe. When I open the window, one shoe comes up with the window properly, but the other shoe is stuck. It's like the pin didn't properly seat and rotate the shoe to unlock it. I visually inspected the pin and the shoe and everything looks ok, but I can't get it to work right. Any ideas?
After watching this demonstration I was able to install my window back into channels.70 but can still learn a new trick!!! Excellent instructions Thank you so much. .
Thank you so much!!! You saved a marriage lol! Just washed my double hung windows and did not bring the window up properly and it went off track - now I can fix it before my husband gets home - he will never know!! LOL
That one tidbit of info … lifting the window 5 to 6 inches is gold! For the life of me searching on how to unstick those latches took me over a hour hour. You need to do a video on this single issue. Thanks for your channel 🤩
After watching these I was able to fix my window with ease!!!! This is the best video haha you get right to the point and don’t repeat a single word 20xs before getting your point across. You’re the boss, apple sauce!
Thank you for great instructions. We messed up two windows by not leaving enough room at the bottom. With outside temperatures in the 30s, Your video instructions provided us with a much needed fix.
Your video instruction was perfect. As you showed, I managed to pop out the lower window because I didn't raise it high enough. Not knowing how to put it back in I became really frustrated and almost resorted to replacing the whole window. However with your instructions I was able to quickly put the window back into the shoe and all is well. Thank you very much.
You are the man and helping us regular folks work towards handyman mastery. It such a satisfying feeling when you find the exact video, with the exact demonstration done so perfectly. God bless you and RU-vid lol
Oh my god thank youuuuu!!!! this literally works. I was not looking forward to dad getting home and being upset about it and possibly not knowing the fix. I was already thinking of a new window fee or window repair fee lmao. Now I fixed it all on my own and it was all thanks to this!! Yay!
If you were a Boy Scout, I would award you the Life Saving merit badge for this video! I reinstalled the window sash just before it is supposed to rain here in Oklahoma! Thanks!
Thanks, now i have learned that im not crazy and they are supposed to slide AND I learned that my window pins that fit into the shoe are literally like 1cm too short. The lack of proper fitting causes it to come off track almost immediately and SLAM that thing goes flying up. Any ideas on how to extend the metal pin?
Awesome, this really helped us!!! If you ever redo it or add a note, you might note you turn the mechanism outward to release it and inward to resecure it (it's not hard to see in the video but it's a bit subtle).
My brand new Windows have one corner on all of the bottom sashes where the tilt latches don't snap back into the frame without an excessive amount of force. What can this mean and what is the fix?
Great but what if you have windows that don't have the simple release at the top? I can't find a brand label on any of the windows (vinyl double hung).
That's the wrong window I need a double pane upright window to put in the frame the whole thing I have the window I have the frame I need to know how to put it back in
Thank you so much, Jim. Last time it happened it cost me $100 - they sent two men! Thank you for the clear instructions. The window is wide and over a sink, so awkward to clean. Will remember 5 inches high in the future. I have subscribed and will like any videos RU-vid suggests from your channel.
Oh, my gosh. Thank you so much! My lower window popped out of the tracks while I was washing it, and the (balance system?) thingies were at uneven levels. One closed and one open. And I couldn't get them to move! And I couldn't quite figure out how to fix it--but your video explained how everything worked so I was able to move them to the same level and get the window back into the tracks. Gosh, what a relief. Thank you so much!!!
This helped big time today temp falling below freezing and draft can be felt from the window. Only thing wife was helping me put it back in place and layed window on seal without holding it while I looked for a screwdriver and it fell and broke the inner glass. 🤦🏿♂️ Thank God its double glassed. Still was able to put it in place for now and seal cold out.
This was a huge help. Mine came out and I didn't know what to do. I'm not diy handy at all. After calling everyone, to no avail, I was able to find a screwdriver and fix it myself! Finally...... I CAN do something. Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks so much for this! Our bedroom window was not going up or down and we couldn't figure it out, this was the second video I clicked on(the first was for a different style of window.) After watching I was able to identify the problem and get the window moving again. I appreciate you very much!
I didn’t realize the force that the sash would shoot back up while I was pressing down on the screwdriver. You may want to update your video more strongly emphasizing that point. The sash flew right out of the grip of the screwdriver and broke the plastic piece at the top breaking it.
I am here because it's 27 degrees outside and I just popped my window out doing exactly what you described. Now I know better. I tried and tried to put it back in, cold and feeling defeated, I went to RU-vid and put the window back in within minutes. Thank you for the very helpful block of instruction.
Thank you. You just saved my bacon. We've got cold weather coming in, my husband took the window apart and cleaned it, and couldn't get it back together. Thanks to your directions, I was able to fix it.
Thank you for making this video. I have this problem today and have scheduled an appointment to have someone come fix this problem. It took me less than a minute to fix it myself after watching your demonstration. Thank you so much.
I literally just nodded cuz I did that exact thing wrong lol Thank you for the demonstration. Woulda been nice to get the close up of the inside of the window but not too hard to figure out.
Add me to the list of thankful viewers. I couldn't close the window after washing and spent 30 minutes getting nowhere. This video helped me fix the window in 10 minutes.
Oh man this video was sooo helpful. It was the first one that popped up. Usually I have to scroll through many long winded ones. Thanks for getting right to the point.
Jim, you are the best. I was in a panic until I watched your video, and then bingo, the window went back together easily. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Thank you. I was cleaning my tilt in windows and it popped out of it. The slider piece was wedged and would not move. Finally got it moved up but the metal pin would not go in - it had a rectangle and it took us a while to realize we had to have the window horizontal to get the shapes right! A rectangle will not go into a square until you rotate it - basic toddler stuff. Thank you for helping me not panic and remain calm. I'm a new home owner who has severe anxiety about home repair (Why I will never know..).
