How to Fix PS4, PS5, & Switch Controller Stick Drift with DS4 Windows on PC

Hello, does this calibration method only apply to your PC or other consoles?

this is only on pc while the DS4 App is running.

In the profiles. Where you can setup different keybindings. Select the one your using and edit it. You can then click on any of the buttons in the picture, and either bind it to something else, or completely disable it if you want.

You could change the Axis type in the settings profile. I understand that helps with some controllers.

That sounds more of a bug with tabbing out with whatever game/settings you play and use. Not much I can suggest to fix that. When I have similar problems in Outer Wilds I end up just restarting the game.

Only way to know for sure is to test it in a game

These settings are saved to your computer. If your having this issue on the console thats a whole different set of settings. often inside individual games.

mbe its already drifting back when u use the ps5, Sony just crank up the deadzone so youll never fingured out

There are guides on how to do like physical repair on your joysticks that include things like blowing the dust out of them. I can't vouch for any of them since I've never had to do that

All of these settings are saved on your PC, so your PS4 controller will work like normal on any other device. Just note that if you pair it with Bluetooth you might have to hard reset it in order to pair it with your PS4 again.

I keep having this problem with any contoller that I use for the PC. But it seems like there isn't anyone talking about it, or showing how to fix it?

Same on COD Cold War. It doesn't do it all the time just once in awhile enough to piss you off. I don't think it's stick drift because i have 2 PS4 controllers and they both do it. The first one i bought about 3 weeks ago. I went to gamestop and the guy there said i guarantee it's stick drift. I said how do i prevent it and he said it's basically just a bad controller luck of the lottery. So i bought another one. The second day with brand new controller, same thing so i'm calling B.S. on stick drift being the problem. I think it's a bluetooth issue with windows but i haven't completely narrowed it down yet. I also bought a bluetooth adapter and disabled my onboard PC bluetooth and it does it with the adapater as well so it's not the bluetooth itself. My next step is using a usb cable plugged in but i'm waiting on a longer cable. If that doesn't work then i'm buying a ps5 controller because i had no issues with my old one before it broke. I bought the PS4 controller because i like the feel of them better over PS5. PS5 controllers feel fat to me i like the slim feel of the DS4 and the bumper and trigger buttons aren't as squishy as PS5. But if it's too old of technology to work on windows 10 them i'm out. Back to a PS5 controller i guess and i'll have to get used to it.

No if you need to tweak the deadzone on console you do that through the games control settings. I believe theirs also a system setting that does it too.

You might check the rocket League settings to see if they've got a stick drift setting for dead zones

You probably had ur anti dead zones low

hmmmm. Im not sure. Ive not run into that. Maybe its a calibration thing? Im not sure if you can even do that with DS4

@@ChupacabraTutorials no cuz it works perfectly fine when i connect my controller by USB but when I use the ds4 app it acts like that when realistically the analog sticks are fine, I also noticed that it's doing the same thing when I tried my mouse, the cursor keeps going to the side of my screen and the analog sticks doing the same thing only it's not visible like the cursor is.

I really don't know it kind of depends on the game. you'll have to do a few test runs with it and you might need to fiddle with some settings to get it just right

Sounds like its more of a specific bug with GTA. If you're playing GTA through steam. You could try using the steam controller drivers rather than DS4, and see if that helps. Otherwise the only thing you might try is going into DS4 Settings Profile. and finding your way to the extra settings in the tab on the right side. Where you can reduce the input lag of your controller by boosting the bluetooth refresh rate, and tell it not to report back statistics from your controller to DS4.

@@ChupacabraTutorials Thank you for your answer. I don't play through Steam and i use it wired instead of bluetooth. But I'm gonna try some settings to see what happens. It works fine with my xbox controllers. So i guess it's the program itself.

that might be too much drift to correct for, and you may need a new controller.

@@ChupacabraTutorials in other programs like Betterjoy there's no drift (I'm using the joy cons fyi)

It's not a perfect fix but for most games that have stick drift correction built into them in the settings. It's just a matter of trial and error till you find some settings that help fix the problem. The only proper solution is to just get a different controller that doesn't have stick drift in the long term
