Silicone? Is this better than contact cement or weatherstrip adhesive? I would think the 3M weatherstrip adhesive products, or other brands, would be the way to go?
Hi thanks for commenting, you could try other products definitely and they may work just as well. I found though when I tried other stuff for my Cmax that it didn't work. These cars and focuses tend to have probs with rubber seal adhesion, not sure why. I see other cmax and focus with rubber hanging out from usually under the door. The only thing that's worked for me is silicone. Of course try other things first if you think more appropriate 👍
@@MunDad Thanks; I was just wondering if you had tried the usual rubber adhesives and if they have an issue. My friend has a Focus, and my go-to for all weatherstripping is a contact type adhesive. i was wondering if you had tried a contact type adhesive, and if they don't stick of this rubber for some reason... [I file these little tidbits of knowledge away in my brain for future repairs]
@@troubleshooter1975 Hi, yes I tried other stuff but it didn't seem to work effectively for me. I think the prob with my car was that the rubber seal had come away under the door, so I struggled to get stuff to stick properly, it just kept hanging down. Some of the contact adhesive like 3m I think have a 24 hour cure period too. I think if the rubber seal comes away at the top of the door you could try standard adhesive first for cosmetic reasons although, the only thing that worked for me is silicone. I know it sounds crazy but I repaired mine I think over two years ago and its still fine now so deffo works 💪 👍
