i seriously can not thank you enough for this video. i thought i was going to be screwed. lol and i did it by accident in the dark. ill never make that mistake again. THANK YOU! !!
+mixflip , +Max lee (Zedomax) Actually the casing of bullets it's designed that way due to the mechanical principles of the required seal with the gun barrel, the mechanism of the extractor and thus the magazine's design sorta developed to adapt to the ammor design. However there had been caseless gun designs on which putting the ammo backwards was possible. The point im trying to make is, there are failproof designs and there are others that rely on the knowledge and awareness of the user. On this times we have gotten used to cellphones being reliable, easy to use and fool proff within it's own operation and even beyond it's operation (anti scratch glass, impact resistant, bend resistant) and thus we have adapted our behaviour arround that reliability and thus' reduced the awareness, attention and level of knowledge we feel confortable with having when operationg such devices. in contrast Miss-operating a car would carry to more severe consecuences and thus our awareness, knowledge level and attention uses to be higher, it's more "vital". As such, it can be perseved as an stupid mistake made by stupid people, and felt unfair to blame the company that made the device for the "flaw" however due to that reliability we have been acoustomed to, a "safety feature" should be priority when developing mobile devices given the sociologic behaviour arround them. (truly a fascinating thing, should make a paper about it)
legendario13 the funny thing is people are stupid and they will make a mistake, I've had about a dozen people who emailed me in the last few weeks who have broke their phone from inserting it backwards. It's still a design flaw, they should have made it child proof.
You are a life saver. I was so dumb that I inserted the pen upside down. Then I stumbled upon your video and Voilà! Thank you again. You are an angel in disguise.
It's quite interesting that there are so many of these videos on how to repair the stuck S-Pen in Galaxy Note 5. I wonder how many people have broken their phones by forcefully removing the pen. Also I wonder how it impacts functionality of the phone- does it make the pen useless? Does it do more than just pen
anyone that goes to EDC and knows about the bracelets, this is similar to how this works. by that, I mean using a straw to push through the teeth of the bracelets to release/open it more when you accidentally tighten it too much. with this, you're basically using the lamination or whatever to push through the lock I guess and slide the pen out without the lock blocking it like the teeth on the edc bracelets would. so you could also use a straw for this method, it's the same concept and it would be a lot sturdier
thank you! i ended up putting my stylus in without looking and didnt realize it was backwards! I used your method and it worked!! Think i broke the sensor, but thats okay ♡ thank you
Unfortunately, believe it or not, things like this are considered a design flaw. Part of engineering is making it idiot proof. I work in engineering and its one of the things we have to consider when designing tooling for the idiots where I work. If you've ever actually had to bolt something to something else and you noticed that the bolt holes are not symmetrical, it is exactly for this reason. Engineers design things with asymmetrical bolt patterns so as the assembler does not bolt things together in the wrong orientation. They should have made the clicky portion slightly larger and counterbored the bottom so that it would fit flush but if it was inserted backwards it would merely go in an 1/8th of an inch and stop. That is what I would do for a redesign. No matter, I'm glad to see that there is a simple trick to get it out if you do end up getting it stuck.
Just a suggestion.. take the film, hold both ends and rub it on a corner of a desk or table. It will make it curl. Also, cut and round the corner off the entry point so the corner don't catch on anything.
thanks man life saver! i was gonna yank it out but figured that someone might have encoutered this before and find some way to save the phone, woosh thank you genius who found the way to do it!
As a preventative measure, you can use a fine, modeling file and file a notch in either side of the clicking end so the sensor levers can no longer catch it.
had to do this like 100 times but it finally worked! I used plastic from a old binder notebook and pulled the pen little by little with my teeth instead of my fingers,
Worked as a magic... Thanks man. Oh yeah had to do two three times and it just bounced out almost at the point it stops going in, i tried going in and out several times and that's when it just popped out.. Tested the pen function after that and works like nothing happened. Kudos!!!!'
Thanks alot man, it works! For everyone else who got their SPen stuck in there, i used a screen protector from one of my old phones and had it cut just like the OP did, have good patience and you'll get it out in no time. :)
Hi We could also a use a straw for better traction. Coz for people the aligning the paper would be a problem. Using a straw works better for a lot of people because the curve is already there. Use a medium sized straw. Hope it helps.
Oh my god oh my god thanl you sooo much. My dad's company gave him a note 5 and he put his two phones in the washroom and i went in before him and played around with his Samsung imstead of his iphone and i just stupidly jammed it in the wrong way and my dad was looking for it. I got scared, and smuggled it into my room. I watched a couple of other videos but they all required to get to the motherboard and i dont have the equipment ,i came across this one and tried it but i got through the first lock and then my dad knocked on the door coz he thoight it was me , and i just bit on the plastic and yanked that sucker out. My dad thinks that i was messing with him and told me off , but id much rather tell him that compared to the fact that i almost broke hos company's phone 😬 Sorry dad
I accidentally did this while sleepy...just used a plastic straw I cut in half lengthwise. I find the paper and acetate too flimsy and at a point they both seemed to crinkle up and not insert. The straw is sturdier and worked faster...and I was not having to worry that part of it would break off in there.
This video is a life saver. Accidentally Inserted backward, I was so worried about the air view sensor clip. Luckily nothing happened to the sensor trying this trick :)
Please do not take a chance with paper as it can tear and you might have some piece stuck in there. Plastic film is best, thickest film you can fit in smoothly. Also, another ugly prevention method is to grind off clicky end part so that you'll only mid section, atleast there won't be any part of a pen that'll get caught now. Just a thought.
I don't understand people who are arguing that this isn't a design flaw. Make something, make it not break when it is put in the wrong way. THAT IS WHAT DESIGN SHOULD BE. It should be considered, it's such an easy thing to do, it's like your phone self-destructing when you accidentally hold it upside down and then people replying saying "duhhh just don't hold it upside down" ????. Placing a stylus the wrong way wrong into the Note shouldn't be something I should be worried about, I should be like "oh let me put it the right way". If it's not a flaw let me see you be happy with the Note 6 having the exact same issue because why should they change it if isn't a flaw? If it isn't something that needs to be changed? Samsung fanboys ffs
Got my Note 5 yesterday, and for some stupid reason, I inserted the pen backwards, just to see what happens, and yes, I broke the sensor (So I thought) after I yanked the pen out like an idiot. After a night of regret, I inserted the pen backwards again today, thinking to myself "what's the worst that could happen?".. So I stuck it back in, slowly, until I felt a small vibration, then I pulled it back out...and my sensor is working again! So maybe my sensor didn't break, but just got out of its position. Feel free to try it out if your pen is stuck and you yanked it out. It may or may not work.
Depends on make and model of the gun and magazine but I won't get I to that. The fact that it's not designed to go in backwards doesn't make it a design flaw.
You can still use your S pen even if the sensor is broken. go Settings -> S Pen Settings -> Scroll down to see S Pen Power Saver and disable it. now you can take it out and use it as normal
Scary video glad you did it instead of me. Needless to say I favorited that video and subscribed; just in case on a drunk night I put it in backwards. And yes folks even smart people make mistakes... we call them accidents.
I know a guy who works for Samsung. I showed him this same video and he then told me that this would be an out of warranty repair because it is considered physical damage to the device itself; especially if you do damage the sensor that is built inside the device. He also told me that if you put your pen in backwards an attempt to take apart your device on your own that will also void out your warranty with Samsung! So then here is a thought! Don't put your pen in backwards.
I had gotten my Note 5 the second day the phone released from AT&T and the next day at night, I was sitting in my couch with nothing to do so I was admiring the beauty of the phone. I had the pen in my hand and wondered if it would fit backwards. It did. And I yanked it out. The pen then had trouble going back into the phone and the LED lights of the menu buttons stopped working. I went in on Monday to AT&T and told them they gave me a defective model and walked out the door with a new one :3 Never going through that heartache again (hopefully)
All Samsung has to do is make the bottom part(the click end) a bit bigger or fatter, the old Palm Pilot phones had this and it was impossible to put in the stylus in backwards.
omg it worked and im writing by it right now!!!!! it didnt even took of me more than 5 min pheeew thank youuu . i was really cracking up as i got my mobile 5 hours ago and i did this stupid mistake by fault!!!
Max Lee: I'm glad it worked and will help others in the future, ufortunately I posted the solution to late for you(dissasembly already started). Btw, I don't own a Note 5 but will sure get one just to remember me of this soution :-).
i mean u can prevent this from happening by making the clicker base a bit bigger by having a slightly larger disc, this way it wont go in randomly? just saying my thoughts~
I didn't actually put it in backward, my s pen is in correctly but the clicking isn't normal. My guess is that there is stuff in the space under the clicker thingy that made the clicking go weird.
