How to Fix System Image Restore Errors in Windows 8.1 and Windows 77 1

The error I’m getting is “windows cannot restote a system image to a computer that has different firmware. The system image was created on a computer using BIOS and this computer isnusing EFI”, it’s frustrating because I just want to get windows onto my new hard drive.

I just had the same problem, as I was trying to restore an uefi boot SSD image onto a new empty SSD. For me, the solution was to create a 100mb primary active partition with offset 1024, using diskpart. Hopefully this will help someone.

The video really helped me to understand how to do this. But for some reason I'm still getting the "system image restore failed" I am using UEFI bootable USB and I am restoring the image from a 1TB hard drive. I have made sure that the internal drive is set to the system disk. There is a basic version of windows 10 installed on the drive and it should work to my understanding. I have done this process on other desktops and it worked with no problems. So not sure why this desktop is the exception and its not working. Hope someone can help??

Good video, I've everything on my laptop bios, and hard drive BBS doesn't exits. I did the diskpart and check the system and it's on Disk 0 and the system image is on disk 1 and yet still have the same problem.

For me I had to swap the drives around to have the correct drive as the selected drive! But there is a new error telling me that I need a larger hard drive! So I will try one when I get a chance!

Could you please help me? I got the error message from the video, but there are no other disks besides the new Kingston disk I installed. Commands just say " there is no system disk to be selected". I'm completely out of my depth and nearly in tears.

disk o is the one on which you boot or hdd where is the backup system?

I try to install windows 10 or 7 OS with iso bootable pen drive in clean neat Seagate internal hard disk after formatting it but it takes really very long time to finish up that too with crashes and slow process how do i solve it..its literally eating up valuable time and hours waiting to install but fails in the end...even image recovery fails.

Fix my issues. new laptop - Had Raid turned on from from Dell. switched it to AHIC. list disk helped also to show what was going on.... good vid.

other issue is you try use recorvery from biger disc to smaler and windows recorvery system can't do that

Well this works only if you can change what the bios calls the system drive my bios does not let me as its a laptop from 2013 running on a bios from 2012 cant upgrade its version. And so hopefully i can get it to work by making my backup drive an external usb hard drive if not i will be pissed at windows for being so damn shit when it comes to backing up and using the backup when on older systems
