I’ll add myself to the “Wait, I thought I was the only one with that infuriating nasal click!” club. The most frustrating part about it is that the de-clicker won’t remove it (technically it will but the setting is so aggressive that it destroys the rest of the audio). I’ll have to try the Ice Breaker Peppermint Cubes gum trick. Also, I’ll be practicing the “breathe through the ending of the phrase” in the booth today to see if it helps me. This is the first video of yours that I’ve seen. Great stuff! I’ll be back to see what other secrets your videos reveal. 🍻

Thank you for your video and tips ❤I checked that gum mentioned. It contains Xylitol which is a great anti-bacterial and anti-cavity sugar substitute. It is probably the reason why it helps. It is also super effective with mouth smell, as mostly the smell (if not from stomach issues) comes from mouth bacteria produced by carbohydrate food.

i have the same issues and my secret weapon is a sip of a light diet soda! I have my bottle of water to keep hydrated and that diet clear soda and just take a sip of the soda every 5-10 minutes and I'm golden. I figure it's the artificial sweeteners keeping my mouth moist or something - the same thing is probably happening with your gum.

Thanks for the tips, there is no such gum in Poland as I know, I'll try with Wrigley's. ;) You started the movie by drinking coffee - my experience with coffee is that it dries out the entire mouth, the cheeks are less stretchy. Of course, with longer recordings coffee is useful because of the fatigue, but then I drink a lot of water, even more than during the recording session. For me it works well to eat an apple, even halves before recording. I wash it down with water. The salivary glands then provide adequate hydration themselves. So, the résumé: the most universal is water and of course... the musical illustration under which you record - it will effectively drown out all those little shooting devils! ;D All the best! Filip

Hey, thanks for the comment. Yes, drinking coffee is counterproductive to fixing mouth noise. I was actually drinking it so I would have more mouth noise for the start of the video. Water and apples can help, many VO's swear by it. Good luck with the wrigleys, and thanks for watching!

Interesting tip about the gum. I believe it is sweetened with Xylitol, so if you have a dog or cat, be very careful. It is highly toxic to them - even worse then chocolate. And it doesn't take much to do lethal damage. 😥

@@creatorsvillage Currently I have found that being hydrated *seems to help with the ear click...? Maybe? Not 100% sure on that one. If it gets really bad I may sometimes put on some closed back headphones to keep the sound from getting into the mic. I also offset the mic to my left a little bit so my right ear isn't as on-axis.

@theoutsiderjess4869

I do vocal warm ups before I record but my mouth would go dry anyway as I had a problem with my teeth and needed braces on the top row of my teeth and before the braces alot of my words would come out wrong for example If I'm trying to sasy sound it would come out like Souns or something like that so I would spend hours re-recording and agitating my mouth and some one who has sickle cell that was not a very good combo

@DennisvanLeeuwen

WOW ! You are the first person I meet that has the noseclick as well. I just noticed this. Everytime I say a word like SKI or KNEE I can hear the click. It is not coming from my jaw or mouth but actually in my ear. I have had an ENT look at it, and using the scope she says she sees what is happening but there is not much that can be done about it. During the night I get a click when I breath thru my noise. This is really annoying me. Do you feel other people can hear your nasal clicks? Does the gum remove the nasal click as well?
@creatorsvillage
@creatorsvillage 2 года назад
I don't think anyone else notices, but it's really annoying when i'm working. Yes, the gum helps a bit. But I really manage it by breathing through the ends of my words a bit, and I changed my microphone. The 416 really picks it up, but my KSM 32 isn't as sensitive. Also, izotope elements has a great de-clicker plug in that catches any that make it through.
