Thank you for your easy to understand slow pace and great camera shots. One suggestion... everyone always skips over lua script updates. It would have been very helpful if you paused at the scripts updates and mentioned that that is how to update just the new luas. Nick

@@RCVideoReviews What was confusing me was the channel order, the radio being in mode 1 when I fly mode 2, all my settings were mis matched. Different channel order between OpenTX and multi protocol module. It may be worth making a video explaining how this all needs to be set up and matched? Thanks so much for all your help.

Thanks mate that's good info....the FlySky AFHDS 2A update looks interesting. And my FlySky CVT01 voltage telemetry sensor turned up today; yes it might look bulky in the photos you see in the ads but its incredibly tiny and compact...dimensions are 30mm x 12mm x 6mm or for non-metric folk is 1 1/4" x 1/4" x 1/2".....a very tidy size and at $5 AU (or $3.60 USD) and free postage I reckon it's worth a try.

great videos just very fast-paced. I got the firmware on my tx and internal modular updated but the write to sd part I must have screwed up. it didn't work so all images, sounds, models, are gone. i backed them up but have no clue how to put them back on the tx sd card.

Your videos make learning for the beginner to OpenTx or in my case EdgeTx very easy. I just did a module update and all is well but I don't know what all the different abbreviations are for the DSM protocol. I currently have all Spektrum radios so I'm focusing on those for now. Can you tell me what 2 1 F, 2 2F, X 1F, X2F, AUTO, & R 1 F for the DSM protocol? Thanks again for all your help and I will be ordering some shirts next - your one of the few that has long sleeve T-shirts!!!!

I’m Spektrum illiterate. The only times I’ve used DSM I just select auto and the rx sorts things out with the rx when I bind. Feel free to hop on my discord server and ask though. Plenty of Spektrum users there.

I got confused regarding the 2 firmware areas!!! So I followed the other one, then the radio complained of "update firmware recommended" (text flashing), I did this one and it then works fine. I do have problems with creating model images, to the right specification (192x114 in png format) but do not show in the radio, some do, some dont. (weird!!) anyway, thanks for a great videos on a very complex, and not that easy to understand radio!!

After days of trying this finally worked on my 16S. Ty. When i went to my firmware on the SD card there was another file there. Open-tx 16s-en-2.3.11-otx.bin. Was there something i was supposed to do with that file like flash transmitter or something. J

Maybe a silly question: Has changing the software in the internal multiprotocol module influence on the properties of the transmitter that gave the transmitter there conformity of compliance from july 2020

I don't have any way to definitively answer that question. If you want to dig in, head over to the MPM project page on Github and either check the source code or ping the developer pascal. My *guess* is that the developer would not change EIRP levels. Not to say a user couldn't. I have a video on how to compile your own MPM.

No, the 4-in-1 chip is hardware and software. You can't add 4-in-1 functionality with just software.

I don't believe the CC2500 supports FlySky. FrSky/Futaba.

I think your videos are great. I just updated my TX16s by copying this. It tells me the version is now the 2.3.9(3). When I go to Tools, all protocol options(FRSky, Graupner, etc) have disappeared. All I see is 01 Spectrum (INT). Where did they go? How can I get them back? Can you help please?

Updating the MPM firmware shouldn't do anything to your sd card contents where those tools are located. Odd. Anyway, go here: www.open-tx.org/downloads Find your firmware revision, download the sd card contents for your firmware and unzip to your SD card. That should replace any missing tools scripts.

@@boydriver2978 The radio is telling you with the operating firmware you use that you need to update your MPM firmware. They are not the same thing. This exact video shows you the process.

RCVR, can you please help me. I have this TX. I've updated everything, firmware, multi-module, bound and rebound my models....etc. I've just switched to this from spectrum and love it. All my models have spectrum receivers (planes/helis). When I do a physical range check I can put the TX in low power and walk 100 meters away from the model with not problem and still have control. But if I click the "range" option and monitor the RSSI it drops to 0-30 15ft away from every model I have and gives critical alerts and telemetry lost, but I still have control of the model over 100 meters away. What is going on?

Well, "constant development" doesn't quite apply to OpenTX right now. The EdgeTX fork is moving forward though.

That video was made almost a year and a half back. When it was posted, OpenTX development was just beginning to slow down. And yes, I've been compiling my own nightly Edge binaries for a few months now. They are definitely on top of things when it comes to progress.

I asked Radiomaster concerning the Conformity of Compliance when updating the internal multiprotocol update.: “As far as we know not” was the reply. I ask the team now for an statement from the developers of the internal multiprotocol module.

It makes sense to me they would say that. They sold it compliant. If the user does something that makes it non compliant they wouldn’t want to be in the middle of that question. You can always leave the firmware alone and remain compliant with the initial attestation.

Hi, I purchased this radio Radiomaster TX16S, in the hope to continue flying 6 models which are using the old Frsky D8R-II Plus receiver, but bad surprise !!!, this internal module version 1.3.1.36 AETR dont have the option "D8Cloned" !!, but I saw in other video that the old internal module version V1.3.1.24 AETR has the option "Frsky - D8Cloned" , how colud be possible that newest and last version dont appear anymore "D8Cloned" ? ... I will really appreciate any idea or suggestion... should I back the internal module firmware to the old one ? thank you !!! and greetings from Sweden !!

@@RCVideoReviews Ok here’s the sit rep - I use a TX16S . Most of my builds I use crossfire. Before I switched to crossfire I was a frsky guy. I have 3builds with x series receivers and 4 w/ crossfire .I recently I purchased a bind and fly with a xm+. I Can’t bind to the XM plus.. Instead of downloading new firmware to the xm+ can I not just download the firmware I’m currently using on my TX16S to the new xm+? That way I can bind to my existing quads ? Maybe I’m not thinking about this correct , if I download the firmware from the site and install on the new xm+ at that point will I no longer be able to bind to my older quads ? I’m so lost on these FRSKY receivers with firmware issues I know it’s not complicated I just get so aggravated fooling with frsky , I apologize if I’ve been disrespectful or anything I like your channel a lot & will be becoming a Patreon , I really appreciate you taking the time to answering my questions.. To be clear my question is can I download the existing firmware on my TX16S to my new xm+ receiver and bind that way ? If I do that my old receivers and my new xm+ would all be the same .. Or will I be forced to upgrade all my receivers? I have no complaints with the firmware I’m currently using…Again thank you … 🙏

That looks to be an R9 ACCESS based receiver. So it's no on both counts. ACESS is encrypted and you need an R9 module on TX16s to fly R9 receiver.

I had problems with this download. I intially tried to do it with my Macbook air, but it wouldn't unzip the file. Went to a windows based computer and it worked as it should. For some reason my Macbook wouldn't open the bin file.

The bin isn't zipped. It's just a binary. It goes on the radio as is. Only the Lua scripts update is an archive and needs to be unzipped.

RC Video Reviews well for some reason the lua worked fine. The binary one wouldn’t work on my MacBook. Not sure.

My TX16S showed I needed a module update, when I try to download the binary for the firmware update it says I need an APP to open it. So do I need an APP? First time this has happened. Didn't have any issue with the multi lua scripts. But as it is, I cant bind to any new receivers.

You don't open the .bin file, you put it on your sd card and flash it from the radio.

I noticed tx16s in user interface / value / pressing int. / Rud / Long press / List of options, I do not have the last value which is the transmission level of the device, which can appear in the top line next to the battery and volume logo. Maybe you can tell me if you have the option in your device?

@@oded_10 My last value is TMR3. I don't believe that has anything to do with MPM firmware, I believe those options are governed by OpenTx and they will change depending on telemetry sensors available.

Hi,I understand there is an option where you can hard set fine tune for various makes of receivers in a config-h file. This would be be handy if using an external module in different transmitter. I found the file on the site but have no idea on how to configure it, if your able to explain how to do that would very helpful

Alan, You have to pull down the source code from Github and compile the firmware. Here are instructions for setting up a compiler environment: github.com/processing/processing/wiki/Build-Instructions Looks like you need the Arduino IDE to compile the source: github.com/pascallanger/DIY-Multiprotocol-TX-Module/blob/master/docs/Compiling_STM32.md Personally, I prefer linux. On linux you can add the Github repo and clone it to your local hd from the command line. If you install the developer environment in your linux distro, the IDE compiler should work with what pascallanger put up right out of the box. This is the config.h file you can edit using your own values. github.com/pascallanger/DIY-Multiprotocol-TX-Module/blob/master/Multiprotocol/_Config.h

I actually just went through the process and it was super simple. Follow the instructions closely and it works. The only error I found was on compiling the binary, with all options enabled in config_h, it came out to be 101% in size. I commented out two protocols and it compiled successfully at 99% in size. My compile produced 1.3.1.59 which is even newer than the release copy. multi-stm-1.3.1.59.bin

I found what you want to do: /** CC2500 Fine Frequency Tuning **/ //For optimal performance the CC2500 RF module used by the CORONA, FrSkyD, FrSkyV, FrSkyX, Hitec, HoTT, SFHSS and Redpine protocols needs to be tuned for each protocol. //Initial tuning should be done via the radio menu with a genuine CORONA/FrSky/Hitec/HoTT/Futaba/Redpine receiver. //Once a good tuning value is found it can be set here and will override the radio's 'option' setting for all existing and new models which use that protocol. //For more information: github.com/pascallanger/DIY-Multiprotocol-TX-Module/tree/master/docs/Frequency_Tuning.md //Uncomment the lines below (remove the "//") and set an appropriate value (replace the "0") to enable. Valid range is -127 to +127. Any value entered in the subsequent lines other than 0 results in a hard coded tuning value which would travel with the module from radio to radio.

My TX16s radio came from China with the FCC firmware. I'm in EU so I would like to flash the internal module with the EU firmware. I searched on the website you mentioned but couldn't find that option (EU or Non-EU). I only found the latest stable version (1.3.1.69).

There is no EU specific MPM firmware to my knowledge. Look at this page: github.com/pascallanger/DIY-Multiprotocol-TX-Module/blob/master/Protocols_Details.md It looks like the protocol specifies EU compliance. @@RCVideoReviews When I go to model setup in my TX16s, under "Internal RF", "Mode" I can select D8, D16 or LR12 (intofpv.com/t-how-to-tell-what-firmware-i-have-on-my-frsky-taranis). Also when I flashed my Frsky X8R receiver with firmware X8R_ACCST_2.1.0_LBT, I could't bind it to TX. This led me to the conclusion that TX has the international (FCC) firmware. Since I'm in EU and in order to comply with the EU regulations, I was expecting there was a EU LBT firmware version for the internal TX module. But I can't find it.

@@jribeiro2009 I don't think there is an EU LBT firmware. Did you read the protocol page? It specifies EU_16 and EU_8 for FrSky X protocol. Under FrSkyX2 I see LBT(EU).

@@jribeiro2009 You probably need to verify the firmware on the Rx. I kind of skimmed over some information about that some time ago, but I seem to remember reading the Rx had to be downgraded to 1.2 or something. Anyway, I'm sure once you have a firmware on the Rx that works with the MPM you'll be ok, but with that LBT(EU) in the MPM firmware, I would be looking at the Rx not the MPM for an update.

I literally don’t have the firmware folder when i go to the sd card page or in my sad card contents… wtf

Sometimes zip files omit empty directories. Just make one in the root of the sd card.

@@RCVideoReviews thanks i got it working. I tried flashing in dfu mode but i kept getting an error saying dfu.util or something like that and wouldn’t work so i had to flash through the remote

Please hell me. My tx16s is stuck in emergency mode. I tried re flashing firmware. The open tx is good but when i select the multi module bin file radio is saying not a valid firmware file. I already downloaded a new multi module bin file but no luck. And not sure why it suddenly went on emergency mode

I feel like you've left something out...What aren't you telling me? 1) Did it ever work correctly? 2) What changed before it started doing this? 3) Did you modify your SD card? 4) You say opentx is good...how do you know that? 5) Are you using any external modules?

@@RCVideoReviews 1) Yes it is working properly before this, i've been using it for a week now. But this morning i just heard it cycling on and off while in its box. I turn it off but turned on again in emergency mode 2) No changes. I havent changed anything aside from turning on internal rf and binding with my eachine us65pro when i first opened it. Aside from that no changes nor mods. 3) No changes in sd card too 4) for the opentx it is just my observation since no button is responding and only the bootloader is working i tried flashing opentx from the available firmware and it was successful but for the multi module it says not valid firmware file. We can exclude this one as i think that is not the right way to flash multi i think it should be done in the system firmware as i need to select internal or external while in the bootloader theres no option and only the opentx can be flashed from there. 5) not using any external module. Before the emergency mode I am in internal rf>multi>Frsky>D8. So now i wonder is my power button broken? Ive searched online and for some it happened when battery was accidentally remove while the radio is on it will come back in emergency mode and i found mine cycling on and off before the emergency mode.

Did you remove the battery and reconnect? Is the battery 100% confirmed fully charged? I wouldn't jump to power button if you can move the trim switches in and power it up to flash. You said you were able to flash a new firmware in bootloader so that means you turned it on right? Does it still cycle on and off or can you just hit the power button and see emergency mode?

@@RCVideoReviews yes i tried removing and reconnectig batteries and use other sets of 18650 too but still the same. Another problem is when in emergency mode no matter how long you press the power button to turn if off once released it will come back on and again it emergency mode. It will not shut off with the battery connected. Just a moment ago after pressing power button repeatedly i was able to get to the welcome to open tx screen so i check everything inside and all is normal i was able to flash the multi module firmware v1.3.1.65. Thinking everything is good i put back in its bix and prepare to sleep but after 5mins i heard it saying welcome to opentx 😂😱 then power it off and back to the same issue emergency mode. I ended up removing battery and go back to sleep for at least 2hours before my shift. Then i will back after work to find out what is causing it.

SO, new to OpenTX. this has been so frustrating its a joke. No Real instruction, no one video all over the internet even comes close to even follow along. Very sorry I ever spent the money for this radio. Been flying R.C for many years long before "Bind and Fly". Im gonna enjoy tossing this new radio into my burn barrel this spring. The part thats gonna hurt is watch $200.00+ go up in smoke.
